My original email and profile got hacked and I couldn't get into it anymore so I created this one. I noticed that this was 13 yrs old afterwards. Thats what I get for putting up a post at 3am. I was up because I'm having a reaction to something and that's why I got on this site. It's been a long night. I think it is the Skyline canned chili I ate. I wish...

Skyline Chili, gluten-free or not?
pdm1981 replied to pdm1981's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I agree 100% but in that disclaimer they said in a restaurant setting. They sell canned chili in the local stores so I would think that I should be okay. I've tried to make my own chili but the problem is that I suck. I'm a horrible cook. Gordon Ramsey would probably slap me in the face. Cincinnati style chili is different from most chili out there too. There... -
I live in Cincinnati. One thing we are known for is chili and a horrible football team. I was wondering if anyone had one of those gluten detectors and how they work because I would love to test them. They claim to be gluten-free and even state that in their restaurants there is a high probability for CC. I even wrote the company several times but no reply...

ARCHIVED Ancient grain gluten free pizza reaction
pdm1981 replied to jfhinoh's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I really miss Pizza. I've tried many different brands but never that good. I stick with the Freshetta gluten-free pizza. It has the CSA symbol on it meaning that it has gone through some of the strictest tests there are and can test down to 5ppm I think. It's about as close to the real deal that I've come across. -
ARCHIVED GENERAL MILLS gluten-free CHEX CEREALS
pdm1981 replied to BruceInselman's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Found it: "The Canadian Celiac Association (CCA) recommends that people with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity DO NOT consume the gluten-free labeled Cheerios products at this time because of concerns about the potential levels of gluten in boxes of these cereals...Based on the information provided to date, our scientific advisors are not convinced... -
ARCHIVED GENERAL MILLS gluten-free CHEX CEREALS
pdm1981 replied to BruceInselman's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I got very sick from the Cheerios but never the Chex. I posted something about this before and I'll try to dig it up. -
ARCHIVED Can anyone relate and help?
pdm1981 replied to Isabel Z's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You don't have Turner's Syndrome do you? My niece was diagnosed with celiac disease which later led to a diagnoses of Turner's. There is evidently some sort of connection between the two. They gave her shots of HGH to help her grow because she too was very short. -
Kim, I tried with those two doctors you mentioned and didn't have much luck at all. They are from the Ohio Liver and GI group. The local support group isn't local and the webpage hasn't been updated in 4 years and it seems that nobody with celiac disease wants to talk about things that help out here in Cinciny. I actually posted a similar plea for help some...

So i've been checking into food delivery services that are gluten-free because I'm sick and tired of trying to keep up with the products out there. There are 2 out there that have replied to all the questions out there and 1 I've tried. Premade Paleo is pretty self explanatory. It's based on the Paleo diet and claims to be 100% gluten-free in a dedicated...

ARCHIVED Gatorade and Powerade
pdm1981 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've read up on both of these and checked out their websites but still am on the fence about these 2 drinks. Are these drinks gluten free or has anyone had any issues with these? -

ARCHIVED Ice Creams
pdm1981 replied to pdm1981's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The only thing that worries me is the cross contamination risk in the plants. Around Cincinnati they have graeters. This is the best damn ice cream there is. If you look at their website though, every flavor is listed as gluten-free, even the cookie dough. I try to get in touch with them but never can get a response. Their Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip is... -

ARCHIVED Soft Drinks? What's the deal?
pdm1981 replied to pdm1981's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Looks like they have their own version of Dr.Pepper too. I think I saw it at Krogers but skipped over it cause the price. I'll give it a try. I never got around to trying the Veggie Elite but instead tried a protein powder made by BioChem. Not too bad and no reaction yet. -
ARCHIVED Soft Drinks? What's the deal?
pdm1981 replied to pdm1981's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I actually thought about getting a soda stream and putting my own fresh fruit juice in it. All it is though is soda water and juice though. -
ARCHIVED Cincinnati, Ohio and looking for a group
pdm1981 replied to pdm1981's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I actually found one but no matter how much I try to get in or in touch, no luck. They have their own webpage that hasn't been updated in 4 years, facebook page that gets updated, but all their meetings take place 1 hour north of Cincinnati. They even have their own blog page that requires approval to make posts that is active but never get approved. The... -
ARCHIVED Cincinnati, Ohio and looking for a group
pdm1981 posted a topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
My niece and I both have celiac disease and are searching for a group. One thing that I've learned is that people with celiac disease often keep to themselves about their diets or are reluctant to let any newcomers into their groups. Then you always have to watch out for the self diagnosed or fad diet gluten-free people out there. Anyone near by? -
ARCHIVED Soft Drinks? What's the deal?
pdm1981 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Which ones are really safe? I've been drinking Dr. Pepper with no problems but what about the others out there? For some reason I've been craving Ginger Ale and other soft drinks lately. I'm just tired of the same old same old. Depending on where you look, the caramel coloring is bad, of malterdextrin, or god only knows what. Everyone makes the claim but... -
It's hot out there and I was wondering if anyone out there knows of some great tasting ice creams or sorbets that are safe? I'm not a big fan of the coconut milks or soy milks stuff either. I just bought some of the Chloe's bars to give them a taste but I miss my Ice Cream! Any suggestions that won't make me regret eating it later?

ARCHIVED Dont get mad, but whats the big deal about 20 PPM?
pdm1981 replied to Washingtonmama's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
You would think that there is enough people out there, people with celiac disease, that we'd be able to push for a better standard than 20ppm. The problem is the FDA. Too much lobbying involved. It's no different than the fight people are having with Monsanto. I hear that there are several medications that are showing promise in Canada who I think also has... -
ARCHIVED Sugar and Mayo?
pdm1981 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've given up on all those processed gluten free foods out there and have stuck to eating a whole foods diet. I have noticed such a huge, massive, difference in my energy, mood, sleep, and well being. Needless to say I've been doing a lot of cooking but have been leaving sugar out because I don't know the safe brands. I tried using Stevia in the raw but keep... -
ARCHIVED What is a safe vinegar?
pdm1981 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I know that there is several types of safe ones out there like apple cider and red wine but what about regular vinegar? I remember I used to eat a cucumber and onion salad that was made with vinegar and would love to eat it again. If you know a good brand, let me know please. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Italian Sausage?
pdm1981 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hey Celiacs, is there a safe brand of italian sausage out there? Johnsonville says that they're gluten-free but has anyone given it a go and got away with it? I saw a couple of brands I looked up on the CSA site: Caninos, and Mulay's Sausage. The only problem is they're not available anywhere near me(Cincinnati). Anybody know of any safe national brands out... -
ARCHIVED Luna or Larabars? Which is safe?

montgomery inn bbq sauce
pdm1981 replied to pdm1981's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yes they sell it by the bottle and it's the best, if not one of the best bbq sauces out there. Its a big deal up here in Cincinnati area. I think I'll give it a try. You're from Austin right? I was stationed at Ft. Hood for 5 years. Some of the best bbq I ever had was at this little place on the road between Hood and Austin. What's the road, 95? You could...
