ARCHIVED Interpreting Enterolab
Clark Bent as Stupor-Man replied to lushgreen's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My enterolab results were similar.. I also had elevated numbers for both gluten tests and the casein test.. I did have one celiac gene however.. on a separate note, I see that you were diagnosed reactive hypoglycemia from an OGTT... do you happen to know your numbers offhand throughout the testing period? I was diagnosed reactive hypoglycemia from a test... -
ARCHIVED College Celiacs Not Time To Cook
Clark Bent as Stupor-Man replied to breadlover's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
if you only have to avoid gluten and are alright with dairy, soy, and other foods, then you have plenty of options... if you don't have a mini-fridge in your room, I would get one.. most, if not all colleges let you have them in the dorm rooms... also, you can probably get an exception made for you for other accomodations as well.. my sister is jewish... -
ARCHIVED Calling All People...
Clark Bent as Stupor-Man replied to AmandaD's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't know how low I am, but I just found out this week from my nutritionist that I tested low for vitamin D. She is having me take 2,000 IU once a day. It's some concentrated liquid dropper formula. I haven't taken it yet but will probably start on Monday. -
ARCHIVED Does Anybody Know Anything About Dr. Pastore
Clark Bent as Stupor-Man posted a topic in Doctors
I got a recommendation to check him out from a friend of my parents. Apparently, he is a celiac himself and his spending years of trying to figure out what was wrong with himself lead him to this field. Anybody have any experiences with him or know anyone who has seen him? -
I don't know if I've ever actually reacted to the cologne and doubt that I have. I don't have any skin contact reactions from anything so I'm not worried about that. I'm just not recovering as fast as I feel I should be (or want to be at the very least) and am trying to pinpoint what it is that keeps me going up and down. It could be a host of things,...

The tallowate is gluten-free. My concern is the dairy aspect because I'm also intolerant to casein. As I said, I haven't found much to support the statement's validity, but I wasn't sure if anyone else had any knowledge about it. You can really get sick from just inhaling a cologne if it has wheat in it? I would think that my body shouldn't be that...

ARCHIVED A Couple General Questions About Products
Clark Bent as Stupor-Man posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
First, is it necessary to replace cologne if it has wheat in it? I didn't expect my cologne to actually have wheat in the first place, but I've confirmed from the company that it does. Is there a chance that I could get glutened from using the cologne? Second, does anyone know anything regarding sodium tallowate (or just tallow), and if it can negatively... -
ARCHIVED Im So Confused About Allergies
Clark Bent as Stupor-Man replied to Moongirl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I don't know, I might be in the minority here, but I don't think the elimination diet is that good of a method. At least I haven't found it to be currently for myself. The first elimination diet (which I only stayed on for 1 - 2 weeks) I went on under direction from a nutritionist last December had me consuming oatmeal, eggs, tomatoes/peppers, and even... -
ARCHIVED Annie Dressings And Ians Chicken Nuggets...
Clark Bent as Stupor-Man replied to Moongirl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I just tried the chicken nuggets recently... they're alright, not bad, worth trying.. as nini said, make sure you get the box that's allergen free (only has corn I think) because they have a couple that look similar but have wheat as for annie's dressings, I've tried a couple of them... only the ones with basic ingredient lists without any allergens at... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free At 6 Flags Great Adventure Nj
Clark Bent as Stupor-Man replied to blueeyedmanda's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
I live within a half hour of the park. Used to have season tickets every year when I was younger. I haven't been there in years though. I agree with the above sentiments. I would bring your own food in a cooler. As everyone has said, the food was expensive, and although I had gone there years before knowing what gluten was, I wouldn't think most places... -
ARCHIVED Passover
Clark Bent as Stupor-Man replied to Fiddle-Faddle's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
My mother and sister are both Jewish and keep my parents' house kosher for passover. My sister's also on a gluten-free diet, and I know they picked up a bunch of stuff for passover. I believe Jennie's macaroons are gluten-free. Rokeach has gefilte fish that states "gluten free" on it. I think there's gluten-free matzoh as well but can't recall the brand... -
ARCHIVED Rice Chips
Clark Bent as Stupor-Man replied to lisaemu's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have a bag here at work for the "sea salt" flavor and sure enough, "organic masa corn flour" is the 3rd ingredient. -
ARCHIVED Wheatgrass? Is It Wheat?
Clark Bent as Stupor-Man replied to Robix's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I was told by a nutrionist at a local vitamins/food market that it doesn't contain gluten, but I don't plan on trying it anytime soon... -
ARCHIVED Rice Chips
Clark Bent as Stupor-Man replied to lisaemu's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm nearly positive that there is some corn starch used in the sea salt ones as well (blue bag right?).. rice is the primary ingredient but I think corn is listed on the ingredient list... I've only tried the sea salt ones because they have the most basic ingredient list.. and yes, they are good, but I go through each bag too fast.. a couple co-workers... -
ARCHIVED Sick For 3 Years And Now I Know Why....
Clark Bent as Stupor-Man replied to amethystium-sky's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
at this point, I'd recommend reading as much info as possible and consulting with any resource you have (doctor who diagnosed you, friends/family if any are gluten-free, the internet, etc.)... you should get new pots and pans and certain other kitchen items, new toaster, etc.. you should also check your personal products, most importantly those that come... -
ARCHIVED Negative Blood And Entero Lab Results?
Clark Bent as Stupor-Man replied to erin24's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I was in the same position as you a month or 2 ago. I had a blood test done for gluten antibodies right at the start of the year, and that came back negative. There were 2 antibody levels that had been tested, and neither of them were even in the high part of the normal range. My primary doctor had dismissed celiac disease before the blood test (apparently... -
ARCHIVED Got My Enterolab Results Back
Clark Bent as Stupor-Man replied to Clark Bent as Stupor-Man's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
thanks.. yeah, I actually take this as good news... except the casein of course.. if my test results had come back negative for gluten I was planning on eating a bowl of spaghetti and seeing what happened.. but now all my reservations about buying new pots and pans and whatnot are gone.. good to have a concrete diagnosis -
ARCHIVED Got My Enterolab Results Back
Clark Bent as Stupor-Man posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Looks like I hit the jackpot... casein and gluten apparently.. I was hoping I was just lactose intolerant and could have dairy again in the future... I was also curious what my numbers would look like after eliminating gluten 1-2 months before testing but it certainly didn't seem to matter much.. Fecal Antigliadin IgA 151.5 (Normal Range <... -
ARCHIVED General Suggestions Needed
Clark Bent as Stupor-Man posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have been entirely gluten-free for just about 2 months now. For the past month and a half, I have also been pretty much avoiding all soy, dairy, artificial flavors, corn, white potatoes, eggs, etc. with extremely few exceptions. I know I am hypoglycemic and eat a ridiculously high protein diet and have been for years. I self-diagnosed myself a couple... -
ARCHIVED Little Red Bumps
Clark Bent as Stupor-Man replied to averyevansmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I could be reaching here but it could be pityriasis rosea. I had this a couple years ago, and there are some similarities. It starts with one larger patch, and then numerous smaller rashes appear. The cause of pityriasis rosea is unknown. It lasts for 1 - 3 months and will go away on its own and typically never come back again. I would recommend going... -
the products are from a local health food market, Dean's. I think there are only 2 store locations. With any foods I buy currently, I don't buy them unless they say gluten-free (or are just veggies/fruits or meats). But I bought these vitamins when I didn't know as much about gluten and didn't put much thought into it until this week. I'm leaning towards...

I had to stop taking vitamins for a little over a week due to some tests I was getting done. I started taking vitamins again on Monday and have felt off since Monday night with various symptoms. I'm trying to pinpoint what could have caused the reaction, but vitamins are clearly one of the possible culprits, considering the majority of my diet is very constant...

ARCHIVED Speech Problems - Following Through With Sentences
Clark Bent as Stupor-Man replied to Lisa's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
My brain fog's down as much as it's probably going to be today so I might as well add a reply now. I'm still trying to identify what food intolerances I have, but it seems that the brain fog becomes much worse for a couple days after I react to something. I still get weak and out of it at times if I don't eat frequently enough on normal days and that... -
ARCHIVED The Financial Aspect
Clark Bent as Stupor-Man replied to au natural's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm probably spending less money but that's just because I used to eat out all the time. And yeah, I guess I'm also saving some money on not refilling prescriptions the past couple months. -
ARCHIVED Who's Hypoglycemic?
Clark Bent as Stupor-Man replied to zip2play's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I'm still trying to pinpoint things and am awaiting enterolab results but I never eat a meal or even snack with mostly carbs, especially in the morning.... in the past couple years, I've tried pancakes, donuts, waffles, a handful of things in the morning and rarely react positively... I'm not sure how much better I do later in the day with the same type of...
