I am and each year have to go in for the six or 8 hours orange soda test. Those of you that have been tested for it know what I am talking about here. I manage it through diet, but have found it a little more difficult with celiac to maintain correct sugar levels. I keep getting the shakes and "dumb brain" slow downs. Deborah

ARCHIVED Gluten Free CruiseTimber4est replied to Timber4est's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease The site has now resolved to our server, you can visit Open Original Shared Link to view what is there so far. I have made the community board where we can move the cruise topics into there. I do and love it! That and Ta chi and yoga as well. If you have comast, in the on demand section they offer many workouts for Pilates. You can do them every day and never do the same routine in the month.

ARCHIVED Gluten Free CruiseTimber4est replied to Timber4est's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease Armeta, your husband can talk golf, over beer, with my husband in the sports bar! That would make them both happy. I think but am not certain that this ship has virtural golf. Also, I purchased the domain name Open Original Shared Link What I have completed so far is on that site. I loaded some stuff up last night to it, but it is far from complete...

Small things make such the difference these days. Being several weeks into my new eating style, most foods remain on my “not” list. I haven’t focused on sweets or treats, I have been trying to learn how to make pastas and main dishes so that I didn’t have to survive on carrot sticks or salads. I was really down in the dumps yesterday when my royalty...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free CruiseTimber4est replied to Timber4est's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease Latest news: My sister in law has experience in group cruises of groups of 25 cabins and no more, she felt that this could get much larger and felt that there was no way she could serve our needs as we would need them served. Thus, I contacted Sherri, she is a professional travel agent who does all the travel plans for our store. She will now be heading...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free CruiseTimber4est replied to Timber4est's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease grrrr. Holland won't speak with me, I have to be a travel agent and they want only 1 travel agent. So I made a bunch of phone calls and found travel agents who were International or who were U.S. and Canada only, but they were not both. So I called to speak with them about a small group and spent two hours on the phone playing circle tag with "I need to...

I hope you all don't mind, but I would like to register www.celiacfreedomcruise.com Freedom for one short week to not worry about getting glutened so...

Pizza Crust 2 tsp dry active yeast 1 egg 2 Tbsp oil 1/2 tsp vinegar 1 cup warm water 1. Place dry mix in heavy duty mixer bowl. Stir in yeast. 2. ARCHIVED Gluten Free CruiseTimber4est replied to Timber4est's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease Prices on a 7-day cruise. Prices listed are with airfare from my airport (considered one of the most expensive in the U.S.). Keep in mind this is without a group discount. Holland offers only one 7 day (6 nights) cruise in April and it has no stops, you get on in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and get off in Ft. Lauderdale. The price for 2 people per cabin...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free CruiseTimber4est replied to Timber4est's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease Floridanative, Yes, for budgets a 7 day cruise would work out better, but I wanted to price out the 10 dau cruise because a 7 day cruise would cost less :-) A promotional goods company? No, are a Gold Award, high end Sporting Goods company (the kind with tile and fireplaces) and have to order everything from luggague manufacturers, clothing manufacturers...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free CruiseTimber4est replied to Timber4est's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease I started thinking about a group cruise last week to tell you the truth. I figured Richard Simmons used to have his own "sweating to the 50's" or what ever he called his cruises. As I was researching all last week on a cruise for my family, I had done a great deal of work already. Truth be known, way to much work. But yeah, I thought, if I have to do...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free CruiseTimber4est replied to Timber4est's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease I am working out some ideas for logos, once you guys pick a logo you like the most, please post it in here. I will try to complete 15 or so today, so don't vote until I put Sample Logos at the top in bold words. Once you decide on a logo, this is what goes on t-shirts and stuff. I can put together your top 3 choices in a complete kit to include envelopes...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free CruiseTimber4est replied to Timber4est's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease Cruises of the Eastern Caribbean (quotes for 2 & 3 Passengers per room) Obtained quotes for April 2007 as no quotes for April 2008 available. Both quotes are for the least expensive cabin available. My thinking is that we might get the prices reduced for “group savings”. As you can see, the price drops dramatically for the 3rd person in the roo...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free CruiseTimber4est replied to Timber4est's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease Yes, Holland is known to pamper and when comparing star ratings, Celebrity ranks in at 4.5-5 stars while Holland ranks in at 6-7 star. I would be more than happy to get "average" quotes on both Celebrity and Holland. That way we can keep budgets in mind for the "average" person interested in the cruise. I am currently doing my homework on Holland as...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free CruiseTimber4est replied to Timber4est's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease Woot, in looking over the Celebrity website, for groups of 100 or more they take care of everything, including gluten-free requests to all the off shore events with meals. Here is what you get with 100 or more people (I will call tomorrow and find out the exact details like the deposit to reserve the ship, how many people and what cruises they would offer...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free CruiseTimber4est replied to Timber4est's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease Still working out some logo ideas, but wondered, how does sound? Celiac Freedom Cruise 2008 All logo graphics and of course the text is easily changed, but just trying to brain storm here :-) Sounds like most would prefer April? Most economical from what I can find is the Caribbean. Eastern hits St. Thomas, and places like that. Western hits...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free CruiseTimber4est replied to Timber4est's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease LOL on April, my husbands birthday is the 12th and mine the 25th --he said April as well. But April is more expensive (guess is this is the best for everyone --we would need more corporate sponsorship). Hehehe On that note, I contacted my sister-in-law, as a travel agent, she gets to go on so many cruises all the time. She stated that Celebrity is...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free CruiseTimber4est replied to Timber4est's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease A poll, I haven't done that on this site either, but I would need to know three very important things for polls. 1. What region? In other words, where the cruise goes. (My thinking is Eastern Caribbean and 7-11 nights in length) 2. Length of cruise (4 day, 7 day 10-11 day) 3. Time of year. In examining the choices a late fall/winter cruise...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free CruiseTimber4est replied to Timber4est's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease Woot, I got an email from a company I contacted last week (it was lost in my spam folder) and they are willing to do a sponsor of a cruise of $10,000 towards our total price AND provide a special registered dietician from their company to give workshops on a cruise if we have one of at least 100 people. They also indicated that they would pay an additional...

ARCHIVED Vinegar?Timber4est replied to julie5914's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Heinz apple cider vinegar is not gluten-free according to their website. I have found many vinegars that are not really gluten-free so make sure you hit the corporate websites prior to using vinegars. I havent found a apple cider vinegar yet that was gluten-free in the standard store. Deborah

ARCHIVED Not Being Able To WorkoutTimber4est replied to lemonade's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease There were many days I simply couldn't work out. In the height of my liver issues, the pain was more than I could muster the strength to even roll myself out of bed. I discovered Ti Chi and several other really easy work outs in the "on demand" section of my cable provider. I did those exercises from my bed, after a few weeks, I had more energy and could...

ARCHIVED Hypermobile Joints - Ehlers DanlosTimber4est replied to ravenwoodglass's topic in Related Issues & Disorders Well, I have always had hypermobile joints and this in and of itself has caused a few injuries. My daughter, who was diagnosed with Celiac friday also has hypermobile joints like me. Caused by Celiac? No clue, could just be another trait you passed down. On a gluten free diet, I don't have nearly the swelling I did, but I am not long into the gluten...
