Can biopsy come back negative?
Wheatwacked replied to MiaBia's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Here is a clearly written explaintion of the genes in Celiac Celiac Disease Genetic Testing. My son had it at weaning. I had an acute attack at 63, but once on a gluten free, vitamin and mineral rich diet I counted 19 lifelong issues that cleared. See Scott's article link below. While it seems very hypochondriac to do in the case of celiac disease it... -

Those were just diversions to keep you eating wheat which they add to these foods because wheat makes you want to eat more. Wheat is addictive. You stopped eating fried. Did you get better? You stopped eating bbq. Did it help anything? Gave up Chinese and beer. Any better? Use Tamari instead of Soy Sauce. I don't like beer but was addicted... -
Pre-Diagnosis, a few questions
Wheatwacked replied to JOZ's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I like cherry flavored magnesium citrate. 1 or 2 ounces in a glass of water tastes like lemonade to me. makes orange juice instead of water taste interesting. 10 ounce bottle about >$2. Each ounce has 390 mg of magnesium. The RDA is 310 (female, 18-30) . As a laxative the dose is 6.5 to 10 ounces. Start low, work your way up over a few days. What...- 8 replies

After 3 month GFD I increased my vitamin D to 10,000 iu a day. On day 4 I looked at the bottle and exclaimed; "This truly is sunshine in a bottle" Somewhere around that time I started inviting people to my 130th birthday party in 2081. You'll have good days and better days then bad days. These are the foods I eat: cottage cheese, meat, vegatables...

Pre-Diagnosis, a few questions
Wheatwacked replied to JOZ's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It is likely you have had malnutrion from unrecognized Celiac Disease most of your life, not uncommon with celiac disease. Of the more than 200 symptoms associated with Celiac Disease I counted 19 that improved for me just from GFD and vitamin replenishment. This is the perfect time to get the full panel of Celiac tests and vitamins from your primary...- 8 replies

Supplements
Wheatwacked replied to Grandma Mary's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Some of the B vitamins, B3 Niacin, B6 Pyridoxine, and Folic Acid (B9) and vitamin E have upper limits on supplements but no upper limit to food sourced. Synthetic A, E and Folic Acid have been linked to stomach, prostate and lung cancer in some intervention trials. "While their benefits are generally unclear, beta-carotene supplements do seem to... -
Newly diagnosed - Very anxious
Wheatwacked replied to sadfaceemoji's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Here is the list of what I eat. They are all gluten free with little chance of cross contamination. To increase muscle mass eat more protein and less carbs. Cottage Cheese Oranges Waternellon Meat Bananas Vegatables Meal planning for athletes "A growing body of research indicates that protein intakes well... -
Celiac just diagnosed
Wheatwacked replied to versace114's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
A short time gluten free and you will start getting better. Next step is to replenish your vitamins and minerals. Some are low because of malabsorption (the reason for Carti) but some could be diet. Recovery is do-able. In 2013 I could not stand long enough to watch a single cup coffee brewer do its job. -
Celiac just diagnosed

Make sure you are getting Choline. Either eggs and meat or pills. Apparently no one sells choline in parenteral feeding choices. They do in Europe. "choline deficiency appears to activate cellular apoptosis." https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19874943/ -
How long have you had low D? Taking the prescribed 400 iu a day they typically prescribe is simply a cruel joke on you. Vitamin D is not just about Rickets. It is a major player in the autoimmune world. Low D could be your answer, Fix that and look for more. My son is a lifeguard, spends his whole day in the sun and was diagnosed low D (less than 29 ng/ml...

What kind of problems? On GFD with appropriate nutrition you should be getter better while your friends not on GFD will get sicker. Are you eating enough vitamins in your food. Are you on prescribed medications. Many problems are simply nutrition but get misdiagnosed and treated with drugs that cause other problems. Choline is one that deficiency will cause...

New possible Celiac?
Wheatwacked replied to Dy89's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
"a person who is abnormally anxious about their health." I think almost everyone of us either has been told that flat out or slowly began to believe it over the years. Try to get your vitamin D blood level tested and homocysteine along with the tests @trentssuggested. High homocysteine is a indicator of inflammation. My son has celiac Disease and... -

More Than Gluten Intolerance

This may help you feel less alone -
Hi @Skellig welcomt to the forum. Given your dramatic improvement on GFD you either have Celiac Disease or Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity. 1% of the world is diagnosed Celiac, 10% have NCGS. NCGS is diagnosed by eliminating Celiac and then showing improverment on GFD. What do you suppose your doctors reaction would be if you told her that even Irish...

Low Ferritin
Wheatwacked replied to Angela1287's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I had plantar fasciitis before the neurapathy. Rolling a tennis ball helps. Shallow knee bends under a hot shower running down the back. The goal is to relaxe and stretch the foot, calves and lower back. My sister in law went to a foot doctor and she vibrated it loose with some kind of impact hammer. Reminds me of the old days when the treatment for Carpal... -

The movie "Joan of Arc" had a really good scene where the Pope was suffering from gout. -
"Researchers are examining whether harbouring some parasites in the gut may hold answers to painful health issues such as coeliac disease." https://www.coeliac.org.au/s/about-us/research/hookworm-research Also from Coeliac Australia. Low Ferritin
Wheatwacked replied to Angela1287's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I had that, and it is not gout. The only thing that worked for the gout was the prednisone which is how I discovered the prednisone was the only thing that worked for the fibromyalgia. Back then, pre GFD, I would wake from because I stopped breathing and once awake had to pee urgently but I couldn't walk to the bathroom because of the aforementioned foot... -

Wheatwacked replied to Angela1287's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I may be alone in this, but I consider the vitamins and minerals pills I take as just another food source. That is different from other supplement pills like DHEA, St Johns Wort, etc that are basically non pharmaceuticlal drugs. Willow Bark tea instead of aspirin for example. For testing if it is a fasting test I stop the vitamin and minerals along with... -
They all are a result of too much pressure in the gastrointestinal tube pressing on a weak muscle area. A giant burp with nowhere to go. Different names for different location. A hiatal hernia occurs when the upper part of your stomach bulges through the large muscle separating your abdomen and chest (diaphragm) An umbilical hernia creates a...

Your improvement on GFD would indicate that gluten does affect you. Because of its addictive qualities gluten causes DENIAL. With Celiac ruled out it still leaves NonCeliac Gluten/wheat Sensitivity, for which the only diagnosis is rule out Celiac and show improvement on GFD. Your may still be getting gluten in ways you don't realize. Soy Sauce is more than...
