I'd drink anything distilled that didn't have gluten added back in after the distillation process.
Ditto. This has been my policy, and other than the other effects of alcohol, I haven't had a problem. The only ones that make me nervous are things like whiskey, and the ones I would drink are gluten-free anyway.
Then again, I have the advantage of having an in-house chemical engineer with a vested interest in my health. Of course, his specialty is polymers, but in undergrad he worked on a distillation project for Gallo, so he knows a little about it. Enough for me to trust him.

Thank you! I'm going to order the clear (QVC carries it). My lips are looking older than I do
Just a warning: it stings for a few minutes after you put it on! It's not bad though, just spicy, and the effects are worth it
Oh, and warn your husband before you kiss him! He might not enjoy that much...men aren't into the pain is beauty thing

Chelsea--The DuWop Lip Venom--so it's safe? I emailed them and got no response. You said gold flecks--is that the regular one? The one I want to try is the one just called Lip Venom. Thanks!
They have 3 different kinds, they have the regular clear one, then they have one with gold flecks and one with silver I think. The ones with flecks are venom flash.
The lip venom (regular) is great, too!
It's safe. I found it on here somewhere where someone called them. Either way, no reaction

Thanks Kristy! Well, I won't rule the allergist completely out then. Is RAST standard, or do I need to ask for that too?
My DDs' doc ALREADY looks at me like I'm neurotic over my DDs' health. (So does my entire family, actually!) I'll keep on keeping on!
It does depend on the allergist. They can order bloodwork just like any other doctor, including a celiac panel. It just depends on whether or not the allergist thinks your nuts
It also depends on whether or not your allergist even deals in food allergies - many allergists don't, they only deal with environmental "here's a zyrtec, where's my check" allergies.
If you get a good one (in my case my allergist is a fossil who still uses old practices for exams and is AWESOME) then they are interested in systemic health. Technically, allergists should also be immunologists, but many forget or ignore that...

I thought "Rupert" was a girl doggy? Isn't it Ruperta?
You did an awesome job, though!

Also - what is MAC? I have been using CoverGirl for over 25 years and am a newbie to these other brands. HELP!!!
I love love love MAC!!! Depending on where you are, there may be either a mac store (rare) or a MAC counter in a dept store like dillards, foley's, etc. Otherwise you can order online. Their products are fabulous and they do a lot of good for the community. It's also VERY cool. Their VIVA GLAM line sale price goes 100% to local AIDS research (local to where the product is sold). It's awesome, a lot of celebrities use MAC.

Oops...
I didn't know my daughter was part of this message board...lol
I'm (Celia) is scheduled for a CBC blood panel.
It depends on what they're testing, and what time of day you go, what you've eaten, etc.
If they're doing a full panel with glucose levels, then it will show what your blood glucose was at the time of testing. I doubt that would show hypoglycemia, though. The medical test for that is a glucose tolerance test, and it involves drinking syrup and then waiting for you to crash, my dr wouldn't do it because it's cruel. The Vincent method of testing for hypoglycemia is also a good one, maybe he'll chime in.

I get hiccups all the time. Usually, when I start getting a lot of hiccuping episodes close together it means that I'm going to get stomach muscle spasms. These are extraordinarily painful so hiccups worry me...
Since I still don't know what causes the spasms (I get them stressed, not stressed, acidic food or no acidic food, gluten or not) so I don't know what causes the hiccups. There seems to be no rhyme or reason.

I believe they use benzene in the dry cleaning process.
I'd believe it! Benzene smells sweet, kind of like artificial banana flavoring. That's why they added it as a fragrance to things. Don't ask me when or where I smelled benzene...probably in one of DH's labs...
Except for the unconsciousness thing, I have the other symptoms, lol...maybe I've been inhaling to much of my bananas and avocados before eating them, lol. (I'm only half kidding on that, lol).Just remember not to directly sniff your bananas and avocados. Waft, people, WAFT!!

Food allergies are bad news and can get worse with each exposure. Your athsma attacks could turn into anaphalaxis. Not to scare you, it's just not something I'd screw around with.
It doesn't matter if you have celiac, does it? If your food allergies ever get better (and you should only test under the supervision of a doctor), then worry about celiacs. Your gluten intake is nil now, and isn't likely to change any time soon.

You are just full of good news!
I make a concerted effort
Bananas are rubber and carcinogenic! Milkshake, anyone?
Whats benzene??Benzene is a carcinogen, a material known to cause cancer. But seriously, the amount naturally occurring in bananas is way way way under any amount that would make a difference.
Before they knew any better, people used to put it in toothpaste (it smells good) and shampoo. Eek!

Thanks Chelsea--that was interesting. I don't see why they can't use another binding agent in a supposedly gluten-free food. It makes no sense to me
You'd think they could use chicory inulin or something instead if they wanted a highly modified, high fiber starch. Chicory is definitely gluten-free.
-
Fun fact:
Bananas also contain up to 20 micrograms of benzene!
No worries, you'd have to eat A LOT of bananas for it to do any harm. I wouldn't eat a banana while smoking a cigarette though

1: there are no stupid questions
2: Make sure you sanitize the hell out of it first (put it in the dishwasher?) and make sure it is very very dry
3: Not sure how well that could be absorbed, worth looking into...

Perhaps there is someone here who uses Tofutti products...I haven't. When I looked up their response on gluten, woo wee--its a long one! Read here: Open Original Shared Link
That is the longest non-readable CYA statement I've seen to date! That's a full on ramble!
I thought maltodextrin (fourth ingredient listed on label) was something we couldn't have...Please help...now I'm confused. Thanks!Maltodextrin looks suspicious but it's not. In North America, maltodextrin is made from corn.

This morning the forum was normal, now when I click on a topic there is the topic and then a weird box with the first part of a line of all the replies under it and when I click on one I can only see the first post and it... how do I see the whole thred again?
Did I accidentally change a setting somewhere?
help!
Hit the options tab at the top of the topic (It's in the upper righthand corner inside the blue bar) and change it to standard.
Sometimes it switches for no reason.

Aren't Arby's curly fries battered? That would account for why their homestyle fries would gluten someone.
I am actually feeling better today.I am in a little better of a mood though, we will see how long that lasts, I am going to attempt gluten free lasanga tonight (don't know how to spell it or cook it LOL)
yeah, the brain fog? still here.
And the layered pasta dish you don't know how to spell or make? It's spelled la-sag-na. Do you know how long it took me to remember how to spell it? Silly italians and their funny letter combinations
Here's the recipe I use (the sauce is awesome, and better than my normal sauce recipe!)

I rated it somewhere...I'll see if I can find it...if you look for it, the name rating it is ekenchels and it was written in January

You could beat her with some medical journals, but I doubt that would help. If she wants to get better, or wants to look for a solution, she'll be receptive.
All you can do is bring it up every once in a while (not enough to be obnoxious) and see if she bites.

I may have to check out the book also, but for the time being, a daily prilosec is much better than stomach cancer. I don't have GERD, I have erosive gastritis. I clearly make too much acid and my stomach tries to eat itself, and long term irritation like that can cause cancer. Going gluten-free didn't help, if anything it got worse. Right now, for me, prilosec is what I can do, even if it doesn't work all the time. Until a better solution (and a better gi doc) comes along, it's PPI's for me.
I had been dx'ed with GERD, and at the endo, the dr was surprised that my esophagus was totally normal. He biopsied the stomach lining and I "oozed" which apparently isn't good. He didn't test for celiac.

Well, here now we have a perfectly rounded, 100% normal person (whatever normal means). Amazing!
I think an AQ of 9 makes you a VERY social person (the opposite of me).
Congrats Chelsea--you're the normal oneNormal? Man... thats a concept I just dont understand... so hard to get my head around... whats it like?????*snif* I'd like to thank the academy...
I really thought I had to have ADD or something, but I guess my goldfish attention span really is the result of brainfog!
Erm, I guess being normal feels...normal? I'm also more systemizing and empathetic than the average population...what does that mean? At least I'm equal with the numbers at least...

I'm awesome
AQ - 9
EQ - 53
SQ - 52

Conspiracy theories aside, nobody is forcing you to buy anything from them.
I commend them for taking the fries of the gluten-free list. And for having a gluten-free list at all.

I posted a list of MAC products that are gluten-free earlier in this thread that someone called and got. They may not be free of all of the things you need to avoid, but many of their products are gluten-free.
