  1. I can't vouch from personal experience, but there is a local group here that I just joined that eats out together on a monthly basis and publishes info about the places they ate on their message boards, including the gluten-free menus. Join the group at Open Original Shared Link, search for Celiac and use zip 30050. Go to the message boards and you will...
  2. Shell - this is the same problem that I seem to have. I'm still new to this and still trying to take it all in and accept it. I get myself feeling pretty good and normal again, and then I start to thinking I must be REALLY back to normal again, and I test myself with a little bit of gluten. I guess some can accept it right away and move on, but I am having...
  3. OMG - I've been consuming them by the bucketsful!!!

    ARCHIVED Can You Beat This

I'm sorry that this happened to you, and I wonder the same things. I wonder if when you have your records sent to another doctor if they call one another or send a note along telling the other doctor what they think of you as a patient. You know, like - watch out - this one thinks she has Celiac disease and won't stop till she gets a diagnosis - or something...
  5. I know many people here also have GERD/reflux. BUt what I don't know is if getting glutened would bring on flare-ups of reflux. I had finally gotten myself to feeling pretty well, then I ate a small piece of cake and a little bit of cheesecake with graham cracker crust. Well, that started me on a huge downhill slide. Although the reaction from the gluten...
  6. No problem. Good luck and keep trying. Hopefully someone will be able to help.
  7. I feel for you, felineaids, as I'm sure this is not easy for you. I don't have any recipes, only a couple more suggestions. Why not try to contact a research university with a good agricultural/food service program? If you have one nearby, all the better. Many universities pride themselves on their programs. Possibly one of the instructors might take...
  8. Wow, this thread caught my eye for some reason today because I was poking around again on the SpecialFoods site. The company makes and develops foods and flours from unusual sources for those who have an extremely restrictive diet due to severe allergies. Well, they also have a food program/special diet for Aspergers, Autism, Celiac, and gluten-free/CF...
  9. Thought I would also let you know that this company, Special foods, sells a number of unusual flours and includes recipes with the flours. The recipes are specially forumulated to avoid most allergens. I would also think that you could contact the owner. I get the impression she would be willing and able to help. Here is a description from them on their...
  10. Feline - How difficult for you! I'm so sorry you have such a rough time of it. When my intestinal issues began and it became evident I had suddenly developed food intolerances, like probably everyone here, I began surfing the net for information, ideas and suggestions. I came across one website devoted to providing special foods and rotation diets...
  11. Robix - Usually at the top of the pdf there is a button 'Select Text Tool' or something similar that changes the pointer and enables you to select & copy & paste. Looks good. Can't wait for the rest.
  12. I live in one of the northern suburbs of Atlanta. I'll have to check out meetup.com/celiac, as I think I might enjoy attending a dinner or two and meeting some folks!
  13. What a great and accurate description! I do not understand how gastroenterologists (and probably many other specialists too) can expect to do justice to a patient within a 10 minute appointment. So far the ones I've been to have been watching the clock and running for the door as soon as possible. It is very difficult to discuss your condition with them...
  14. Wow, that is certainly disheartening to hear! I'm with you, Lushgreen. I am one of the ones who wants to pursue diagnosis besides being repeatedly knocked to they ground by doctors. I feel that they/we/I should be able to find a cause and then deal with it. I also feel that diagnosis is critical to appropriate follow-up care, which is critical to my...
  15. Tiffany, Sorry for your troubles - you have been thrown into a bit of a tailspin over this, haven't you?! Don't let em get you down. You didn't do anything wrong. You just feel guilty because you probably don't normally do that, and the one time you do..., well, look what happens. The parking note was uncalled for and left by someone who is insensitive...
  16. Lisa, so sorry you are having such a rough time of things lately. And how difficult it must be to be dealing with it in a college dorm. Talk about having no comforts, wow. I'm sure it is not pleasant. My son is dealing with as yet undiagnosed intestinal issues at school too, and it is no fun. I'm a newbie at this like you are, and just wanted to tell...
  17. When all my food problems seemed to appear out of nowhere, that is one of the things that suddenly appeared. Suddenly I couldn't eat eggs. It's not an allergy (not IgE, anyway), and haven't been tested by enterolab. I also get very nauseous. I call it a sick liver feeling. And I get these strange, stabbing pains. It's hard doing without both gluten...
  18. <duh!> There's that too! <why didn't I think of that?>
  19. Thanks everybody for the suggestions. I keep vacillating between the spreadsheet and the small notebook. Each has benefits and drawbacks and I can't decide which I would use more. Probably the notebook, since I'm back and forth to work, but I could also just keep emailing a spreadsheet (which is much more organized and has neater handwriting )... If I...
  20. I think a food log is a good tool, both for personal investigation and to take to those doubting doctors. I kept one (sort of) for a brief period of time when doing my elimination diet tests of different foods. But I found it cumbersome to do, and abandoned it after some time. Several people on this forum have mentioned that they have kept a food log...
  21. Cool! Thanks for sharing.
  22. Welcome. I'm still pretty new here myself, and I've got to say, this forum is fabulous! To me it is a lifesaver because there are other people here that I can talk to, who know what it's like and understand what I am going through. Lots of people here with good information, and good hearts, who reach out and respond. It is so reassuring to be able to...
  23. I think the order you mentioned - pizza, then lasagna, then ravioli is right on! Please, please make gluten-free products that are also egg-free. I find very few gluten-free desserts and breads that I can eat - all the good ones have egg in them. Good luck to you.
  24. Vincent - I did this very same thing only a couple of weeks ago. 1/2 a triscuit did me in. Then a few days later after that cleared out of my system, I had a nice dinner of pasta with marinara sauce and a slice of Italian bread. That also did me in. I had many other excellent suggestions from posters - such a cream of wheat cereal, although it tastes...
  25. Thanks guys, for your responses. Yes, I was posting out of frustration. The doc I went to see was another on my plan - someone who advertised Celiac on physician website. I was trying to find a doc on my insurance plan first - before resorting to other (self-funded) avenues like Immunolabs & Enterolabs. I'm keeping them in my back pocket for now until...
