  1. You are expecting too much, too fast, and your diet is not helping you. Villi may technically take 3 days to heal but it takes much longer for the body to feel whole. With respect to the reflux, cut out the wine completely for a few weeks. Ditto on the cheese. As long as you eat things that are known to aggrevate reflux then do not expect the reflux...
  2. It is not gluten free. Avoid it. They used to list the barley enzyme / gluten warning on some of their boxes but I think they've stopped. It is the grandest scam out there. Depending on your sensitivity level you may not notice a problem with one intake or two. That is kind of how I am. However if I use this stuff in cereal every day for a week...
  3. If you go outside often then I suggest you purchase one of these: Open Original Shared Link
  4. There are a handful of lactose free food items out there that contain casein. You could go lactose/dairy/casein free for several days, then introduce the casein and see what happens
  5. Yeah I think cheese is out of the question. I'm gluten free/dairy free/soy free as well and I have not found such a thing in 5 years. Whole Foods carries one brand of rice based "cheese" singles that come in many different flavors including American, pepperjack etc. However I am pretty sure it contains trace amounts of either soy or lactose. And I think...
  6. Lundberg rice milk and pacific rice milk are both safe. Whole Foods usually carries one of these.
  7. Everyone is going to have their own opinion on this subject, but I just thought I'd chime in and say that I don't think Lactase tablets really work as they are supposed to in all cases. I suspect, and I am almost certain that this is the case as to me, that lactase + milk still leads to damage, or at least slows my healing process from gluten. I found...
  8. In manhattan.
  9. I've eaten here twice with no trouble
  10. soy free as well. look for them in your health food grocer's freezer aisle, in four flavors.
  11. When I have to attend events like this I just bring my own stuff. Set one of these up outside the wedding tent and grill up your owns burgers: http://hackedgadgets.com/wp-content/Hemi-Grill.webp No cross contamination worries, etc.
  12. Yeah none of the Puffin's cereals seem to be safe despite the labels.
  13. Depending on how sick you've been you might, for the moment, consider doing something like the caveman diet (meat, vegetables, fruit) for a while, to allow your stomach to heal. newbies inevitably gluten themselves by accident and it slows down the healing process.
  14. If it provides your family any comfort there is a "cure" in the works. Its a pill and I think the basic idea is similar to the lactase tablets. It's in stage II trials. Could be many many years before its ready though. Kid has to go on the diet for now.
  15. the vanilla and the chocolate are both really good. I prefer the chocolate. I suspect there may be some dairy or soy cross contamination issues, but glutenwise they seem as safe as advertised.
  16. Pacific Foods is out. Rice Dream is out.
  17. 6-8 months for me.
  18. Chopin Lubsosova (sp?)
  19. I had a type of ataxia before going gluten free. It took me about 6 mos on the diet before I felt like it was corrected/reversed. hope this helps.
  20. There's a Carrabas up there.
  21. Can anyone recommend one? Maybe one who has some familiarity with the demands of celiac patients?
  22. Peter Green at Columbia is the credited response, but he never has any appointment availability in under 2 months time. I've also seen James Marion on the upper east side. He has a private practice and doesn't take insurance. He's not really a celiac specialist, but he seems familiar enough with it, and he's a bright guy. His number is 212-861-20...
  23. Can someone confirm that this is gluten-free? thanks.
