  1. I, of course, have to reply to tell you about the Outback's located in Vegas! ) There are two on the "Strip" (is that the only place you plan on eating??) One in the 2nd level of the Mirage (I think)...and another on the south end... at 7380 S. Las Vegas Blvd. Check out their online gluten-free menu at www.outback.com ! Let me know if you need any...

    ARCHIVED Eating

I've got to say that my favorite lunch would be Mission corn tortillas with cheddar cheese melted on them and folded over - dipped in spicy ranch. Then to make it a little more healthy - I love purple grapes!! Mmm... that sounds good right now!!! (I'm just barely pregnant - haven't gone to the doctor yet - but guessing I'm about 4 weeks.) It's a fast...
  3. Has anyone used Spring Valley Prenatals before?? I never even thought about having gluten-free vitamins before reading a topic posted here awhile back. They have listed quite a few ingredients...like maltodextrin, dextrin, dextrose, etc. I'm not certain if any of those ingredients are bad? I'm not very sensitive to small amounts and my reactions vary...
  4. Thank you - that helped clear up a few things. So, if you're dairy allergic - what happens when you eat something with dairy in it? Does it do damage to your body?
  5. Thanks for your quick response - but I'm not sure of the answer you gave me. So - an intolerance is worse than an allergy? And we, as Celiacs, have an Intolerance rather than an allergy to gluten? I'm aware of what happens when it's eaten (I was diagnosed with Celiac before I was even 2 yrs old)....but I'm still not sure I understand the difference between...
  6. I've been meaning to ask this question for a while. If there IS a difference - what is it? What makes an allergy different from an intolerance? Which one is "worse"? Which one do we, as Celiacs, have a problem with? I really should know this - and possibly did at one point - but I can't seem to remember. Thanks for your help!
  7. I ate there a couple weeks ago with my family and had no noticable issues (however I'm not always very sensitive...sometimes I don't have any reaction at all). I dont' remember exactly what I had... but I think one of the items I had was shrimp scampi (the lemon butter sauce)....and like I said, I had no reaction. So, not sure if that was just my body not...
  8. I don't agree with all of those that were listed....but I'm just a really picky eater. I'll list a few that I think taste good (and I don't mean "normal"...because I've always had Celiac...so I don't really know what "normal" is). Tinkyada white rice spaghetti is THE BEST! (I don't care for the brown rice kinds...but most people like them.) I...
  9. Thanks, Patti!! I'm glad to hear they're still claiming to be gluten-free. It must have been something else I ate... or just a sour stomach. Thanks for the help!! Good luck finding them...they're yummy! They're in a purple bag...only in a large bag - not the small 50 cent sizes. I found them at a super walmart in the candy aisles. I have yet...
  10. Has anyone tried the new Dark M&M's??? I bought a bag a few days ago...and love them!! However, it's the only thing I've eaten that I figure is causing me to have "D" 3-4 times a day. I haven't been in a lot of pain or anything....so I'm not even sure it's a gluten reaction. Might just be a bug or something. I read the ingredients and it has Dextrin...
  11. Thanks you three for your suggestions! I'm not very good at eating healthy to begin with - so it's always a challenge to do better when pregnant. (I've always said that I can deal with not having flour - it's the sugar I'd really miss!) I have been making sure I take a prenatal vitamin everyday though...so the days I don't do so well on nutrition are...
  12. I was just wondering if anyone has seen a nutritionist while being pregnant....and what suggestions they gave you for your diet? With my daughter, I wasn't very healthy and didn't have much energy. Now we're talking of trying for a second baby (since our daughter turns two soon)....and I'm not wanting to feel that way again while pregnant. Any ideas of...
  13. I said this a few days ago... in relation to what was Not in the brownie. But lots of people still seemed to debate the fact that it has no flour....even though I answered it in that post. Sorry about my previous post... I was feeling really grumpy that day... I know it was a little rude. I'm sorry.
  14. Okay, did no one read my previous reply!?!? Seriously - there's no debate about it - There is NO flour what-so-ever in the Chocolate Thunder From Down Under brownie!!!! I work for Outback and have asked the ingredients of the brownie before!! They don't like to give out recipes - but if you called your local Outback and asked them what very few ingredients...
  15. The Thunder is 100% gluten-free.....however that doesn't make it free from CC - same as any other food you might eat in any restaurant. It has NO flour what-so-ever in it. They wouldn't change the recipe at one Outback and not another - the recipes are the same for every Outback (over 700 of them worldwide). About the kid's menu - they no longer do...
  16. Thanks for all the laughs!! Some I didn't quite understand - because I was too little when it all first happened. But I loved reading the whole list!! Here's one that wasn't quite mentioned: You know you're a Celiac when you rush to your car from the grocery store after finding out that Corn Pops added wheat starch to their ingredients - and you cried...
  17. It's so nice to see some LDS celiacs!! So exciting!! I've lived in Vegas for a year - but before that born and raised in Utah (WVC then St. George). I wish I could help with your mission topic...all I have to say is that you should definitely talk to your bishop about it if you really want to go when the time comes. My little brother gets home from...
  18. I know you've already made your stir fry dinner - but I made a really good one last week and thought I'd share my ideas with you for the future. I cooked my chicken in a regular pan in olive oil and added some season all salt just for a little flavor. I don't have a wok - so in a larger pan I cooked a mixture of veggies while my chicken was cooking. ...
  19. I live in Vegas (have only been here a year though). I'm not far from Mandalay Bay either!! I work at Outback Steakhouse that is just down the road from MB! (7380 S. Las Vegas Blvd.) There are sooo many places here that you can eat at!!! If you're willing to drive a little ways (or take a taxi) - you have lots of options! Within a few miles of MB ...
  20. Something I struggle with has not been mentioned yet. I am naturally a very picky eater. I HATE buying a new gluten-free food (that costs a fortune!) and finding it absolutely disgusting!! I've thrown away so many gluten-free foods - I couldn't even count!! I would love to learn - before buying - at least 10 other people's reactions to the product (and...
  21. So, after seeing that scale - it should tell you what causes all of the types of poop! If you're not "normal" - what can be done to get normal? Which type do you have if you're a celiac not eating properly? Etc.
  22. Actually - PF Changs is no longer a part of the OSI companies....but they still have a great gluten-free menu (ate there yesterday! yummy)!!
  23. Thanks for your concern! I was feeling better the next day. My symptoms (if any) don't last very long. My manager (boss) is actually a really good guy - just had a stupid moment at the time. I'm using this for my benefit though!! Almost everyone will have to work on Mother's Day. There are many reasons why I am not able to work that day - but he...
  24. Ignorant manager of the day!! I was working a lunch shift, at Outback, on Saturday...and the manager was having everyone try the new dishes that were being added to the menu (which are not listed on the "old" gluten-free menu). I insisted that I wasn't interested in trying the new dish (corn cakes, chicken and shrimp covered in a "wasabi" sauce). He...
  25. They're probably apprehensive because it's so hard to feed a toddler a balanced meal in the first place - if you take away things that contain gluten - it doesn't leave very many (toddler friendly) options. I've tried feeding my daughter gluten-free - and it's sooo hard (and I am gluten free!). She knows what she wants - and it doesn't include rice cakes...
