ARCHIVED Gluten And Dairy Free Protein Shake/weight Loss Shake
mylady4 replied to BamBam's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
GNC has some pretty good Soy protein powder. THe chocolate and strawberry are gluten and dairy free but the vanilla is not. I always add some friut to the shake and it makes it a bit better. Not as good as the whey protein shakes but I do feel better drinking them instead of the dairy ones. Nicole -
ARCHIVED Sacroiliac Joint Inflamation
mylady4 replied to confusedks's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Your age might make a difference. I had all sorts of problems when I was 17. That is when the sciatic nerve bothered me the most because I think I was just finishing growing and the pelvis was ever expanding to prepare my body for future motherhood (my hips just kept getting wider). I was seeing a chiripractor at the time as well because I had some scoliosis... -
ARCHIVED Sacroiliac Joint Inflamation
mylady4 replied to confusedks's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
There is a difference between the sacroiliac joint and the sciatic nerve. The joint is a smaller joint in the pevis/lower back that joins your pelvis to your spine. This joint provides your body with the sliding motion it needs for walking. The sciatic nerve is located in the lower lumbar region and usually involves the legs and the pinching of the nerve... -
For those of you who have both Celiac and Crohn's, what were/are your symptoms? The past couple months things have definitely changed in me. I have Celiac and have been controlling it very well the past year and a half so I know I have not been getting glutened plus this feels way different then when I get glutened. Now I have episodes where my intestines...

ARCHIVED Elizabeth Haselbeck Said She Has Celiac!
mylady4 replied to TBOX's topic in Publications & Publicity
I think that more attention is given to Autism then Celiac because Celiac is a treatable and managable condition and Autism is not as managable and is not treatable. I have Celiac and I can live with it and it does not cause too many problems. I also have a daughter with Autism and CP and it is much much harder to manage that. There is a lot that we cannot... -
ARCHIVED Temporary Cessation Of All Sugars, Including Fruit
mylady4 replied to BRUMI1968's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have been yeast and sugar free for about 3 weeks and have lost 9 pounds. I follow the candida control diet plan and it seems to be working. It is alot more restrictive then wheat free. It means eating so many vegetables and quality protien and limited carbs, no fruit and nothing with sugar in it. I gained 13 pounds after going gluten free and I did not... -
ARCHIVED Help! New Celiac Gaining Weight, Depressed!
mylady4 replied to melie's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I am with all of you as well. I went totally gluten free in March of 2006 (started earlier but had to eat gluten again for the biopsy). I also had some hip problems so I had to stop working out. In a period of about 2-3 months I gained 13 pounds and I was so so depressed. I used to weight 255 pounds and had managed through diet and exercise to get down to... -
I think that I might have candida and I am about willing to try the elimination diet. I know that it will be hard, harder then going wheat free, which was not that big of a deal since I had done Atkins for 2 years. I have a couple of questions for those who have done the diet and here it goes. 1. How long did you stay on it? 2. How restrictive where...

ARCHIVED Need Pre-school Snack Ideas!
mylady4 replied to e&j0304's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I have a daughter that is in 2nd grade and has special needs (not celiac yet) and I am sending treats for Christmas. I am going to be making sugar free jello jigglers and cutting them out in holiday shapes. I am starting to watch the sugar consumption pretty closely with the house and I figured around Christmas they will be getting enough sugar and it is... -
I so agree with tarnalberry and stretch, stretch, stretch. I used a treadmill and a bike in the summer to lose 75 pounds. Where I got into trouble is when I started running on it (bad bad idea). I can jog outside but not on a treadmill. I am also battling Sacroiliac joint inflammation and that sucks. It is a great way to start just to do not push yourself...

Maybe we will run into each other at the celiac booth. We live about an hour away in Wisconsin and will be dropping my youngest off at respite care after I work all night. Hope everyone has a good gluten free day. Nicole

I had mine about two years ago as a present for losing 75 pounds. I got a custom designed calla lily on my chest halfway between my shoulder and breast. It was my wedding flower and it is in a place where I can easily show it but nobody knows it is there unless I wear spaghetti straps or if I show it. Most of the time you cannot see it even while wearing...

Thanks so much for the information. That may be the first place we go. I found that they sell fruit on a stick, corn on the cob and kababs which all should be safe. I would like a special treat that day though. Maybe the peanut nut roll will be safe. Nicole

ARCHIVED Frustrated...i Dont' Care Anymore
mylady4 replied to Natlay's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Have you tried protein shakes? Protein in these are easier to digest then other forms but they do contain milk but they might help. There are so many of them out there that you are sure to find one you like. Myoplex by EAS is pretty good, especially frozen berries or bananas in it. I can tell by your postings that you just want to scream that you are not... -
I am going to the Minnesota state fair on Friday and I am wondering if there are any placed to eat that specialize in wheat free foods? I know that I can have the corn on the cob (very tasty) and pork chops and chicken on a stick but is there anything I should treat myself with? I had a scone last year and it was oh so good but that is out of the question...

ARCHIVED What Does The Iga # Mean In The Bloodwork?
mylady4 replied to azmom3's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I had one of the levels at 26.9 (?). My doctor said it was borderline but go ahead and try eliminating wheat. She then scheduled a biopsy and the GI said that I had to eat wheat until the test. I eat so much wheat products those couple of weeks I felt like I was going to explode. The biopsy showed no villia damage (but some other stuff). When I went back... -
ARCHIVED How Long Do Fibromyalgia Symptoms Last After Being Glutened?
mylady4 replied to Sarah8793's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Boy, this post hits close to home. My hips feel like they are on fire alot of the time. I did have brucitis in them a while ago but that is now gone. This pain is deeper and seems to be worse on some days then other. I have been pretty good about not eating wheat or gluten, that has not been that big of a deal. I am curious about the lectins and salicylates... -
ARCHIVED Does Anyone Have Any Solid Info On The Incidence Of False Negatives?
mylady4 replied to frenchiemama's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I also had neg biopsy. I think that was because I did not have that many problems for that long to do any damage, about 1 year and getting worse. I had not been eating wheat that often to begin with and before that hardly ever since I was following the atkins plan. I did have slightly elevated blood work levels, 29.8 I think. I went a couple months gluten... -
ARCHIVED Shift Work - What Works Best For Gluten Free
mylady4 replied to funinthesun's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
What is walk a bit? I also work nights, not 12 hours, but at night plus go to school. Before getting celiac 2 years ago I lost 75 pounds while working nights. First, plan out all of your meals. I usually eat the same thing (tuna and rice cake and a peice of fruit for 1st break) and make the same thing for lunch a couple of days. There is no way I am going... -
ARCHIVED Should I Ask My Gi Doc To Redo The Blood Tests?
mylady4 replied to Helena's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
What will you gain by doing a biopsy? Since the only cure is a gluten free diet and you are doing that anyway why go back to feeling miserable. I had a biopsy earlier this year and it did not show any damage. I think that because I never normally ate alot of gluten and I did not have symptoms that long I luckly did not do any damage so nothing show up. My... -
For those of you trying to lose weight, do not be discouraged. I did lose 75 pounds in about 20 months. It has since stopped due to the health issues that I am working out. I followed a lower carb program and walking and biking. I would bike on a trail anywhere from 8-15 miles a day (depending on what type of day I was having). I did not coast but was contantly...

ARCHIVED Intestinal Damage And Severe Obesity
mylady4 replied to a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
How many here have not had a positive biopsy but a positive blood test? My blood test was 29.6 before going off gluten and 12.3 after. That was all the proof my doctor needed, plus I was feeling better. When I had the biopsy it did not show any damage. I think that was because I was never a big gluten eater (been loosing wieght through hard work for two years... -
Turtle, I am so with you on this one. I too gained weight after being diagnosed with celiac. I got hit with a double whammy, I also had to stop working out because I was running too much on the treadmill and got brucitis in my hips (very painful). Up until two years ago I had lost 75 pounds and was just 20-25 pounds from goal. Two years ago everything stopped...

ARCHIVED Healthy Choice Frozen Dinners
mylady4 replied to msserena's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I had emailed them about this and they said I should email them about specific meals. I almost jumped for joy when I found two that did not say they contained wheat. I use to eat them alot before celiac. I get so tired of trying to cook for myslef all of the time. I am not highly sensitive to I am not too worried about cross-contamination at this time. We... -
ARCHIVED Activated Charcoal As A Sleep Remedy For Insomniac Celiacs
mylady4 replied to kendira's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I never even thought of this using for acidental glutening, DUH. When I first started having problems about 1 1/2 years ago (before I knew what it was) I went to GNC and told the guy about my gas problems (I had just switched from atkins to BFL) and he sugessted to try activated charcoal and it did work for a while. I am so going to try it again. It makes...
