  1. I try to buy some gluten free items in the organic/health food part of my Kroger. They have a pretty good selection and will try to get anything you make them aware of. I am wondering how do you keep your spouse and child from eating your gluten free items.... My husband has gone along with all the gluten free cooking I have been doing and helped himself...
  2. I am from Beaumont... but that's a good hour from Conroe...
  3. 2boys4me, Orbit makes a cinnamon gum that is nearly identical to the old soft cinnamon Dentyne. I know, my mom and I have been chewing the old Dentyne, and switched to Orbit about 6 months ago. It's just as good. I believe I read somewhere the powdery white stuff is not a gluten product. I want to say I read it was cornstarch or something else benign.
  4. My husband and I both got the pneumonia vaccine this past fall. Last spring we both came down with a horrible case of pneumonia. The doctor was ready to put both of us in the hospital. We were miserable and decided even if the vaccine lessens the severity of pneumonia in the future, we'll take it. We both have asthma, and tend to catch every respiratory illness...
  5. I was diagnosed with asthma when I was 7 years old (now 29). I don't take meds for it on a regular basis. My asthma flares up when I am exposed to mold spores, extreme amounts of dust or pollen. I am allergic to almost all trees, grasses and weeds, as well as molds, penicillins, cephalosporins, xylocaine and phenergan. I also tested positive for a chocolate...
  6. Well, I know that Minute Maid Park in Houston won't let you bring your own food or drink in.... but I don't know about other parks. I know at Minute Maid, on the club level, there is a salad bar, and a saute/stir fry station where they would probably be happy to wash the saute pan and utensils before your additions. Other than that, I am stumped. I guess...
  7. My GP referred me to this gastroenterologist that he felt would be good to diagnose me, and it turns out he was right. Dr. Stagg read all my medical and family medical history in advance to get familiar, asked me some more questions, and listened to me explain my reactions to eating things like cake, beer, etc. When I got through talking he said, "We...
  8. I've had no increase in UTI, hubby definitely can't feel it, and I say go for it putting it in a few days early to prove your point. My doctor told me the hormones are released at the normal rate for 35 days, then fade greatly after that point. He instructed me to wear it for every 33-35 days then change it out. I don't have a period because of that....
  9. I got on Nuvaring for 3 reasons: because of the chronic diarrhea/vomiting, because I bleed like a stuck pig during that time of the month (I use Nuvaring continuously because of the extreme bleeding), and I was forgetting to take my pills for anywhere for 1-4 days at a time (could brain fog have contributed to that?). I love the Nuvaring. It has been the...
  10. I bought some Kroger brand "Old Fashioned Grits" yesterday. They did not have wheat or any other gluten containing item on the label.
  11. Diarrhea & Fatigue are my two most annoying...
  12. Does anyone know how I can make roux for gumbo and etoufee, now that I'm giving up wheat flour? I am cajun and live in southeast texas (as close to Louisiana as you can get with not actually being there), so gumbo and etoufee are important to me. Will Bob's Mill all purpose gluten free blend work, or is something else a better bet? Will the gluten free flours...
