  1. My son's bloodwork was positive but we did the biopsy too. Honestly, we didn't know any different. We just did what the GI doc suggested. The biopsy was inconclusive and if I had to choose again I don't know if I would do it. My son has diabetes so it was a little more complicated for us. His sugar levels dropped like a rock during the procedure and it took...
  2. I'm sorry, I should have clarified. My daughter is going to be 4 in a couple of weeks. The baby in the pic is our youngest son. Everything was fine until she got sick over the winter break. She had a couple of infections, went on a antihistimine/decongestant, and went downhill from there. It started with constipation. Now she takes a daily laxative and...
  3. My daughter was tested for celiac a couple weeks ago due to family history and some symptoms she was having. To my surprise, her results were negative. She now has been given the diagnosis of IBS. I've read on the boards that testing in kids under 5 is unreliable. Is this true and why does this happen? My son has a very clear cut diagnosis of celiac...
  4. We're big fans of Tinkyada here. It cooks up so nicely and doesn't become a gluey mess if overcooked. It tastes like regular pasta, even my autistic son can't tell the difference. I can't help with the sauce though, I make my own.
  5. I got a lot of great ideas, thanks everyone!
  6. Sorry to hear about the teeth I don't know how old your son is but my son got his first filling at age 3. At that time we didn't realize that the celiac could cause dental issues so we got a lecture about tooth brushing. He's 6 now and still gets cavities all the time. He must have about 8 fillings, the dentist said his teeth aren't even the right texture...
  7. Hello My son will be entering the 1st grade next year and I'm already stressing about lunch. What do you usually pack for your children? My son likes sandwiches but the bread doesn't seem to hold up so well. Of course that could be because I'm not doing a great job with baking it. I'm just trying to think of other kid friendly stuff that I can send....
  8. That's wonderful! What a great school
  9. Threefly, is that you? It's Amyd from the other board. I've seen your posts about DB but don't have any advice for you. I hope you get the answers you need soon!
  10. I'm so sorry. I hope your daughter gets the help she needs and that she recovers soon. I will keep your family in my thoughts.
  11. Hi Amie. My son was diagnosed 3 years ago. At that time the whole family was tested and came back negative. We were all tested again this past December, again with negative results. I just had my dd tested for the 3rd time Monday. She's starting to have some issues that I felt resembled Celiac- stomach pains, constipation, lack of growth, no appetite...
  12. Sorry it took me so long to get back. The vendor was Food- Tek, Inc. They have a website that lists their products www. foodtek.com In addition to the cake in three flavors they also have cornbread, brownies, icings, bread, and waffle mix- all microwavable. The kits come with a mold to place the batter in and a measuring cup. You can also buy refill...
  13. Thank you! I may have them screened every year, I'll just have it added to their yearly physical.
  14. This was our first time going and we were really impressed! The vendors were great and everyone in general was so helpfull. We really liked the vendor that was selling the microwaveable products. We picked up the chocolate cake for our son and he loved it. It's super easy too- just add water to the mix and pop it in for 1 minute. The cake was really tasty...
  15. Hello everyone. Next monday my daughter is going to see my son's GI to have a celiac panel done. We were all tested when my son was first diagnosed and came back negative. However, my daughter has been having some issues lately that make me want to have her retested- stomach pains, constipation, not gaining weight, etc. My question is- how often should...
  16. Have you tried baby rice cereal? My little ones were always able to tolerate that. My 9 month old also enjoys eating yogurt and scrambled egg yolks. You may want to ask your ped about the egg yolks, different doctors say different things. Applesauce is a big hit here also. I hope that helps a bit.
  17. I also think you should have your children tested. If the ped won't do it, take them to your GI. They don't have to be having symptoms to have celiac. I've had all my kids tested and am in the process of retesting my daughter due to some issues she's having. As for the behavioral aspect, it's certainly possible. Age 4 is a difficult age, they want to...
  18. I would get them tested. All my children have been tested, even the baby and he's 9 months old. I know that blood draws are difficult for little ones but it's pain that is over quickly. I'd prefer the 5 mins of upset vs months, possibly years of damage that could be done if it's not found. Good luck.
  19. Hi Fiddle, thanks for the suggestions. I don't know any breastfeeding mama's right now but that was a clever idea. My son's digestion seems pretty good right now, no diarrhea or anything. The dietitian says that he should be eating 2000 cals a day and right now he's averaging about 1400. Thanks for the help.
  20. Thank you all for the suggestions you've made. I really appreciate the help. My son does have many other allergies but not to dairy or nuts. The smoothie/milkshake idea is a great one, I bet he'd really like those. I will also look for the coconut oil, right now we use olive. I'm making him double strength milk for now and have increased his butter intake...
  21. My 6yr old son is having a hard time gaining any weight. In the last two years he's only gained 1 pound. We kept a food diary and submitted it to the nutritionist, she wants us to increase his daily caloric intake by 600 calories. Does anyone else have very thin children or kids that have a hard time keeping the weight on? What types of things do you feed...
  22. Thanks for sharing!
  23. My son was diagnosed just after his 3rd birthday. Some of his symptoms were no growth ( height or weight), stomach pains after every meal, diarrhea. Since our son has diabetes, his endo sent us to the GI doc right away. I hope you get some answers soon. Good luck.
  24. My son has both celiac and diabetes. His dentist feels that his enamel problems are caused by both of those medical issues. We're hoping that his adult teeth aren't as affected.
