  1. The problem I've found with baking gluten-free challah is it definitely doesn't have that same consistency as regular gluten filled goodness challah. But if someone has a fantastic recipe, I'm willing to try it again. I've made Bette Hagemans, and it smells like challah but definitely isn't the real thing. Sigh...
  2. I'm starting to crave them, and Purim is in early March. I thought about using my regular recipe and using Bette Hageman's Featherlight Flour mix for flour. I still struggle with the xantham gum - when to add it/when not to/how much if I substitue the flour mix for regular gluten flour. I'd love a good hamentashen recipe if anyone has one. Cherry hamentashen...
  3. I'm heading down there in April to visit my mom in Boca area. I hope the new Pizza Fusion is open by then, as I eager to try it!!! If not, we're driving to Deerfield.
  4. I rec'd an email from Sepracor, the makers of Lunesta last week, stating Lunesta has been confirmed to be gluten-free.
  5. This is excellent news! I'm heading to Portland and Oceanside at the end of this month for five days and now know where I can eat in Portland. I found their locations on the Net but didn't see a website, so I could really check out their menu. Thanks for postin this info!
  6. We ate at Steuben's again last night and man, it is GOOD food. My partner had fried chicken which looked fantastic! I had gluten-free skirt steak and mashed potatoes - YUM. I even tried their fries and no problems. I highly recommend this place and it is definitely a new favorite of mine. GO SUPPORT THEM! THEY SUPPORT US!
  7. Sure thing about the recipe, Becky. They're definitely NOT matzah balls, but I had some chicken soup this morning for breakfast and it wasn't bad. They definitely weren't my Bubbeh's matzah balls! As for sharing the snow, believe it or not, I read on our local NBC affiliate website that there is some woman auctioning off snow on ebay!. Here's to a wonderful...
  8. Oh wow, if you could get the recipe, you'd be my hero! The snow is great - we got another 8 inches or so today alone! It's wonderful and so peaceful looking outside. Plus, I don't have to go out in the snow. Tomorrow I am going to make chicken soup and try gluten free matzah balls! I'll have to plan a work trip out to Troy area sometime this year though...
  9. Now if he would just send me the quinoa greek salad recipe! I've emailed him numerous times and am just giving up at this point. It was so good!!!
  10. Does anyone have a list or suggestions of places to eat in and around the Boca area? I'm heading down there in March or April to visit my mom, and I've googled for suggestions, but can't find any. Other then the typical PF Changs or Outback, anyone have any suggestions? Thanks so much!
  11. My partner's been known to go 5 times a day which I just don't get at all. I think it's from being constipated forever in life that I just can't fathom going 5 times?!?
  12. Hot lemonade. YUM! I never thought of that. Yummy and soothing.
  13. best bet - find a good local place, take your Triumph Dining card and your own bottle of Tamari. That's what I do. I've done it three or four times. Only once did I immediately get very gassy and that was the time I gave them LaChoy to use.
  14. If you'd share the recipe for the scalloped potatoes, that'd be great! They sound yummy.
  15. OMG - I tried one of my old gluten favorite recipes today substituting Bette Hagman's Featherlight Flour mix 1:1 for regular flour and I'm in HEAVEN!!!! And come on, with four sticks of butter between the frosting and batter, you KNOW it's gotta be good. These are more cake like then chewy, thick fudgy brownies. But they are good. Featherlight Flour...
  16. I'm with Jersey Angel - life is too short for us to do things we don't want to do. And life is sometimes hard for us having Celiac. So enjoy life, do what you want, and worry about yourself, you're your number 1 priority and not hurting someone's feelings who obviously has been rude to you. Be well.
  17. I miss Pepperidge Farm White Coconut Cake. Oh man, my partner and I used to get those, let them thaw, grab two forks and meet in the middle. All while standing at the counter. Sigh...the good ole days. But we're all healthier now - let's remember that fact!
  18. Hey Kim - I'm in Denver. I am not sure if the local Celiac chapter has a group up there or not - have you researched it? There are plenty of places to eat in Boulder that are safe if you're looking for places to eat. Gimme a shout sometime via email if you'd like.
  19. ditto to the reference's above. I was in Troy this Summer for work and I checked out Bel Cibo's. The food there looked amazing - HUGE burritos (made from rice paper wraps). I had the quinoa greek salad and scarfed it down it was so good. That was in July and I am still writing the chef and begging for the recipe. There's a PF Changs (or as I call it...
  20. I am going to order a new set today as I can't find mine anywhere. Can someone please scan in their card, both sides and email me both sides of the card? I would be so thankful for that help, as I ordered a new set this morning but doubt I will have it for dinner on Saturday. thank you!!!
  21. It's so nice when that one person goes out of their way for you. Last night I was telling my partner, that while I know he loves me and supports me, unless you are going through this, you really have NO idea what if feels like. Today is a huge day in our office, as Halloween is big here. Of course, my dept. brought a TON of snacks I can't eat, and I said...
  22. Call Costco's customer service from their website. They are great at answering these types of questions and usually get back to you within a day or two. My thoughts are the more we call, the more it encourages them to label stuff gluten-free, as it costs them for every incoming call.
  23. Call Costco's corporate number from their website, they'll tell you. They're great with this information. There have been times where they have to call me back, and when that happens, I usually hear back within 48 hours.
  24. I've eaten at the one in Cherry Creek and downtown Denver and it's been fine. They're a bit pricey for "casual" food, but the salads are yummy.
