The major names of the prescriptions are: Ultrase, Pancrease, Zymase, (Lactaid is included in this list), Creon and more. If doctors are reluctant to give all celiacs these enzymes, alright...

  8. Hi All, Since my last entry on the Mess Board I emailed to Hain/Celestial regarding the gluten free question and I have yet to get a response. This is the second time I've emailed to them in the past say 8 weeks. 9. Jacque: I am on this message board because my husband has celiac disease. I do not have celiac disease, but I can tell you with much certainty that fresh and dried apricots bother my stomach/intestines too, so I stay away from them. I can also tell you that even though I don't have celiac disease I am lactose intolerant, so I do know what a celiac disease...

    ARCHIVED Doctors In New York

Hi All! Let me add my name to the list of those who are looking for a gastro who knows more than the average gastro about celiac disease. My husband newly diagnosed and it appears that the Dr. he has is only going "so far" with the problem. I feel like "Well, here's you diagnosis -- now live with it." is coming from the Dr. I'd like more direction:...
  11. Hi All! Why would celebrities keep Celiac Disease a secret? It's not like it's a communicable disease nor would it be something that would keep them from getting work. On the contrary, it would keep them in the news as a positive thing , i.e., helping to work towards the good of average Joe celiac person. It would put Celiac Disease in the national forefront...
  12. Hi All! My husband has been ill for past 27 yrs. During that time we knew he had something other than IBS, colitis, etc. but didn't know what. We also knew due to his symptoms that he had mal-absorption of some sort. Asked a prominent No. Jersey gastro (if I told my fellow New Jerseyians the name of this medical group, they would raise their eyes...
  13. we had same problem with Hain/Celestial. It seemed that the Cust Service Rep who was on phone had no clue as to what he was talking about. He was reading from a script that the cereal was made from gluten free ingredients. When pressed further, he could not comprehend "cross-contamination" question. Is this manufacturer just goin thru the motions...
  14. HI! my advice would be to go to the public library and review a book called Physician's Desk Reference & look up the possible anti depressants (in the index under anti depressants). Then write down the name of the prescription and the manufacturer (Example: Prozac made by XXXX). In the index is a list of manufacturers and their addresses and phone...
  15. Hi All Yes the Kitchen Aid would be the best...does anyone have any recommendations on a good hand-held brand I could use? I live in a very, very small apt here in the Northeast and would like to move to something bigger but rents are astronomical! Anyway, the Kitchen Aid is to heavy for me to lift in and out of my kitchen cabinets and I don't have...
  16. Being the wife of a "newbie of 11/03" I am always looking for receipes. My husband is so depressed he has no interest. He was depressed before the diagnosis, and Dr. said that he has probably had celiac disease from when he first got sick at age 27; he's now 53. All four gastros he's seen over the past 25 or so years said IBS, spastic colon, colitis...
