  1. Have you considered pan-grilling them in bacon fat from gluten-free bacon?
  2. I can do it for you if you email it to me. PM me.
  3. A lot of people who put their baby or toddler on a gluten-free diet find that their stools become normal within a few days. You won't have to wait for months to find out if the gluten-free diet works on a child that age.
  4. I thought this was a serious post. So it was actually supposed to be a joke at the expense of those with alternative lifestyles?
  5. You need to read your sources carefully and consider where they are coming from. Is it from a pro-msg source (like an msg manufacturer or chemical group), a neutral source, or an anti-msg source. And what does the research actually state? Open Original Shared Link I looked at this report which was given above. 634 people agreed to participate in...
  6. My understanding is that commercial buttermilk is a product fermented from skim milk, using a culture that does not break down much of the lactose contained in the milk.
  7. I used to use the meat grinder a lot when I cooked for more than one person. It did get a crack in it, but it's on its second mixer and probably 30 years old, and the crack doesn't seem to affect it, so I can't complain. I don't like that wooden dowel you're supposed to cram the meat down the chute with though. It's not sanitary...maybe they've replaced it...
  8. Vitamin E (d-alpha tocopherol) made my hot flashes go away. They start to come back when I forget or run out.
  9. It's a huge amount of work cleaning up the seeds, and you'll probably find the quality is lower than the ones you buy already shelled in the natural food store, ready to roast.
  10. No need to ask, there's nothing to figure out. Either it's on topic - some topic - or it's all over the place. I had just been checking this thread out every month to see if it looks like it's on topic (anything to do with celiac). I read a page or two or three. Nope, just chit-chat, check in again in a month. This time I came in on the page where...
  11. Actually, I don't put everything in the blender. I put in the almonds and add the liquid gradually. It blends smoother that way than if you added all the liquid at once, in which case you'd have chunks floating around that never got blended in. It needs to be as thick as possible without getting bound up. I weigh them or measure them by volume first...
  12. I use the blender to grind them into a smooth batter with the liquid from the recipe.
  13. This thread is a blog of Rachel's self-discovery. No one who has not been reading every day can possibly "pick and choose", as clusters of health posts are lost in long pages of bonding posts. No offense was meant to Rachel, but she clearly sees it as a personal blog herself.
  14. You really need to get all the soy out of your diet for at least a couple of weeks to a month, every last bit of it, even if it means no processed food in that time. Then eat a big piece of tofu or drink a glass of soy milk and see what happens. PS, I have a recipe for homemade almond milk on my website. Do you eat many tree nuts? You could be sensitive...
  15. "Sadist" is when you like Carla's mouth to be on fire. You're a "masochist".
  16. Which parasite did you decide to have your child treated for? The treatments are different for each.
  17. It also doesn't take into account the difference between clinical gluten intolerance and subclinical.
  18. Sure, you rapidly lose a few pounds, and after that, your weight loss crawls. Some people lose weight when they switch to a gluten-free, scd, paleo diet. But it's not a guarantee.
  19. If you're starving, for sure you weren't eating enough calories. It sounds like you've definitely got a problem with milk, and in my opinion, the scd diet would be very difficult without that.
  20. This is true, there would be numerous threads, and all of the information would be available to anybody who wanted to read it. Now it is lost in the middle of this thread. Even if you were to change the title, it could never give any indication of what the whole thread is about.
  21. It's also true that toddlers, being really small, have fairly low caloric requirements between growth spurts. It is normal for it to appear that they are eating almost nothing.
  22. I've never heard anything about prescription drugs, but I heard the same thing about the vitamins. Somebody tested some popular (and expensive) brands and found that they didn't dissolve under conditions you might have expected them to.
  23. My gums stopped bothering me after I gave up gluten.
  24. Personally, I think it would be better if topics could be spun off into their own threads. I'm sure there are readers out there who are not aware that the major current topic in this thread is mercury amalgam poisoning, and would not think to look in a thread with a title about dairy consumption.
