  1. Yes...that's what I had heard from multiple knowledgeable doctors. The biopsy is still the gold standard, but the tTG is the best serologic test we have right now--much, much better than the Anti-Gliadin IgA and IgG, and even better and less expensive than the EMA.
  2. Great, thanks! I just didn't want to do it behind your back or without permission, even though it's not a big deal.
  3. Pinned is a moderator certifying that it's a valid topic (i.e. not an advertisement for cheap prescription drugs, etc.) and that it's in the right place. That way bad topics stay in the back until removed.
  4. Hello, everyone, I've been trying to do more with celiac over the past few months...just didn't know what I could do (beyond the message boards, that is). Anyway, I'm going to write a few articles for the Westchester Celiac Sprue Support Group newsletter...I wrote a two page article on the GIG conference and Chris (the lady in charge of the support group...
  5. He can e-mail me if he wants to. There's a bit of an age difference, but not too much and I'd be happy to talk...no pressure, though, it's fine if he'd rather not.
  6. Dr. Green is the most knowledgeable in the field. Whether or not he is professional as a physician, I can't tell you.
  7. According to the Delphi list, yes, but the last entry was made so long ago that it has a verification date of: 00/00/0000 (means so long ago that you really shouldn't depend on it). I'd check again, but I'd bet it is.
  8. 8 days ago and then again 6 days ago. We called them a few months ahead of time for a gluten-free meal.
  9. It's not 100% accurate. I went on United and they have a gluten-free meal. A salad, gluten-free roll, etc. Unfortunately, on the flight back they gave me a rice krispie (in package) which, of course, is not gluten-free, but other htan that were gluten-free. I didn't eat the rice krispie.
  10. You have a great probability of celiac: 1/56 with any related symptoms have celiac, and you have sooo many related symptoms, that I don't see how you COULDN'T. IBS is often used as a label when the doctor doesn't really know what's wrong, but it's something GI related.
  11. You sound like the classic celiac to me. Most of that sounds celiac...the most important blood tests to get are the EMA and the tTG...the Anti-Gliadin tests are all but extinct with the much more specific and sensitive tests (in the form of the EMA and tTG). The GI can do the others...it won't hurt, but make sure the two mentioned are run. The others alone...
  12. Yay! Nice to see you. I also like Tiffany's avatar...bright colors are nicer here than duller, more neutral ones
  13. Updated June 24, 2005. Wow...I wondered if we would get to 100 and here we are nearly at 200! We're impressive! You might be celiac if... 1. The centerpiece on your dining room table is a bread machine. 2. Your bread looks like a moon rock and tastes like dried out Play Doh. 3. Your bread weighs more than any moon rock could possibly weigh...
  14. Oh, of course she can post. We were just surprised (positively) that someone of such a young age would taken such an active interest in this. It would be cool not to be among the youngest here
  15. Haha . I don't typically forget, in part because I rarely seal an envelope, and also because it tastes gross, so I generally avoided licking them, anyway.
  16. Ha...okay
  17. I'm confused. This article is dated yesterday, and yet, when I went to the radio station's website it showed nothing. A search revealed that this was sometime between January and March of this year.... darn. I thought this was something current. Agg...stupid, stupid news people who put stuff on a website 3-5 months later.....
  18. The Gluten-Free Mall Underwrites "Gut Reaction" Public Radio Documentary on Celiac Disease Summary: The Gluten-Free Mall underwrites a new Public Radio program on celiac disease called "Gut Reaction," a documentary that details the difficult real-life stories of people diagnosed with celiac disease. For_Immediate_Release: The Gluten-Free Mall...
  19. Lazy? I consider lazy: open gluten-free chicken broth (like Manischewitz), dump it into the pot with appropriate amount of water, wait five minutes or however long it takes, eat, collapse.
  20. Tiffany's or one you put in? Because Tiffany's looks fine to me--definitely on the larger end than the smaller end.
