ARCHIVED Flavored Coffee
celiac3270 replied to Mya's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
With flavored coffees, you need to call. Dunkin Donuts, on its site, has a nutritional information section. If you click on a product, it will show you whether each of the major allergens is in it. It has wheat, but not the other forms of gluten (rye, barley). I e-mailed them this: Hi, I have a question regarding Dunkin Donuts products in general... -
ARCHIVED Sholland Gf List
celiac3270 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yep...it's another list. People are always asking about this one and...now it's updated for this year: Open Original Shared Link Remember always to verify that the products on here are gluten-free, as manufacturers are constantly changing ingredients to add gluten--[cough]malt-o-meal. -

ARCHIVED First Trip To Grocery With Jacob
celiac3270 replied to JacobsMom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
A few tips for grocery shopping: Buy stuff by Kraft -- If there is any gluten in the product, it must be mentioned, based on the rigorous labeling policy they've adopted. If the modified food starch has wheat in it, it will say so like this: modified food starch (wheat). So, if there's ever a questionable ingredient, you know it's gluten-free with Kraft... -
Modified food starch doesn't make it automatically bad--just questionable. But with Kraft, if the modified food starch has gluten in it, they will say so. See this article put out by Kraft--you need Adobe to read it and it takes a little while to open, but it's worth it. Basically, any gluten would be put in parentheses. For example: modified food starch...

I know...it's all very confusing. I think I will e-mail and post the response... -
ARCHIVED Gliadin Antibody (iga)
celiac3270 replied to LeeV's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
The normal range for the IgA is less than 18....at 19, you're....iffy about having celiac. You're right outside the normal range--and may or may not have it. But you're correct--you should be tested if anyone in your family has celiac disease. Has your doctor run any other tests? Having a positive AGA IgA makes you less likely to have celiac disease,... -
ARCHIVED Once A Celiac...?
celiac3270 replied to notsurewhat2think's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Celiac will NEVER go away. If you had it as a baby--you still have it now and will always have it. Did your mother suspect you were celiac or actually know? If you haven't been on a gluten-free diet, you can easily test for celiac with blood tests. Another option is Open Original Shared Link. Even if you feel healthy, though, your intestines are still... -
Cool, thanks for sharing the data!

ARCHIVED Mourning Corn Pops?
celiac3270 replied to Ruth's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yes-- I like Rice and Shine--and it is made by Arrowhead Mills Conflicting information about malt-o-meal: -
Regular Pringles are not, so I doubt the fat-free is. Cool whip is made by Kraft--just read labels to determine if fat free is gluten-free. Don't know about the Skinny Cow or Jolly Time things... Jello is made by Kraft--again, read labels.

ARCHIVED Article: Terrible Disease Found To Be Common
celiac3270 replied to angel-jd1's topic in Publications & Publicity
I know! This is the type of article I would print out for people who don't understand, but are interested in learning more--or for regular doctors who don't know about celiac--or for confused relatives....... -
ARCHIVED Article: Terrible Disease Found To Be Common
celiac3270 replied to angel-jd1's topic in Publications & Publicity
These two articles were from yesterday...not very good, but interesting to compare them to such a good article: Open Original Shared Link -- this article said that people in Celiacs, the body treats gluton, a protein found in wheat like poison.....no reference to barley, rye.... Open Original Shared Link -- Can't really blame this person for not... -
ARCHIVED Article: Terrible Disease Found To Be Common
celiac3270 replied to angel-jd1's topic in Publications & Publicity
That is a very good article--describes some general symptoms--some not so common ones--how common it really is and why it was never diagnosed...and its tie to osteoporosis, anemia, IBS...you're right--it's one of the better articles we've seen. -
ARCHIVED St. Ives
celiac3270 replied to Mya's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Strange...they tell you what has gluten, but not what doesn't! Thank you for sharing, all the same -
ARCHIVED One More Quick Question....do I Need New Pans?
celiac3270 replied to a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Yes ....I usually write with a Sharpie on the lid or label: GLUTEN FREE or gluten-free or celiac3270'S...although one time, on a peanut butter lid I wrote "celiac3270's...All Mine!!! Hahaha!!" [the hahaha is an evil laugh]....yeah...that was in one of my weird moments And a new toaster is ESSENTIAL. If you buy nothing else new, buy a new toaster. -
My mom always says that to me, too! "This too shall pass."

ARCHIVED Cigarette Smoke?
celiac3270 replied to minibabe's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Also, if it gets in your mouth or into your body through your nose, it's no longer topical. You breathe it in or it gets in your mouth, it gets swallowed with other food or your saliva, and it gets through your digestive system to the small intestine......and the reaction takes place. It won't have a reaction on the skin, though, unless you have Dermatitis... -
ARCHIVED School Lunch
celiac3270 replied to jcgirl's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
You can take it out of the box and dump the noodles (or give them to a non-celiac member of your family ), but Kraft also had a shaker can thing--with blue labeling--it might be in your grocery store in the popcorn section since it's not only meant for the noodles, but for putting on top of popcorn or potatoes--haven't tried either of those suggestions.... -
ARCHIVED School Lunch
celiac3270 replied to jcgirl's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Oh, that's great! What does the principal's daughter do about lunch? If she heats things up at school, surely your son can, as well...besides which, it's nice to have someone who can provide you with face-to-face support. -
ARCHIVED Article From Kraft On Their Gluten Labeling Policy
celiac3270 replied to celiac3270's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I know, I love Kraft. It sounds like FritoLays is trying to do something for celiacs...it's a big step that they now write "naturally free of gluten" on some of their products. Let's hope the other companies compete for our business. -
ARCHIVED One More Quick Question....do I Need New Pans?
celiac3270 replied to a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Oh, that reminded me....separate condiments are good...it's too easy to forget that you can't double-dip on the jelly/butter/peanut butter with a knife that's already touched regular bread....
