  1. I know...when I was first checking their website, too, it was very unhelpful...a lot about playing online games and stuff, if I recall correctly . Anyway, yes, altoids are gluten-free....stay away from altoid gum and stuff, but the regular altoid mints that come in the tin box are gluten-free
  2. Well, depending on how many samples were taken, it might be slightly inaccurate, so if he hasn't had the blood test, don't rule it out...if so, it's very dubious that he has celiac.
  3. I don't think 2 weeks is long enough to rule out celiac....I definitely have it --postiive bloodand biopsy, but I'm still getting sick 8 months in. I'd probably get a blood test or enterolab or an endoscopy or something to make sure, since it's a commitment to do this for 8 months if you don't know if it's even the problem. Remember that for blood/endo...
  4. Thanks, Carrie....I'll definitely check out those links later (I have to get ready for school now) . Karen.....it was helpful to hear your experience--even if it's for a different purpose--because it seems safer in my eyes if I know that you've taken it and been fine.
  5. if you've ever had a doc. try to prescribe a med. that has gluten....there's a solution. There's a pharmacy in NJ, "Belvidrere Pharmacy" that makes medications for people who need lactose-free, gluten-free, or whatever-free versions of medicines. You just need your doc. to call--they ship in the states, too... Belvidere Pharmacy 349 Somerset Street...
  6. Hi, As I've mentioned in another post somewhere, the dr. would like me to try a medication that isn't FDA approved, but used in Canada, the UK, and much of Europe. Before using it, however, I'd like to find out if anyone's heard of it or used it and I'll do some research. The doctor says he's been using it on patients for over a decade, but whenever you...
  7. Natural flavors could still contain gluten--after all, isn't wheat natural? You need to call the manufacturer, as Richard said.
  8. Yes...my problem is in my stomach, now that my intestines have healed. We think that the food isn't digested fast enough and so it sits there and builds up and then I get sick. It's difficult to want to eat when you know that it could make you sick
  9. Lol .....it shows that she cares, though, and is doing everything she can to keep your daughter safe.
  10. I've been keeping a journal...I just made a table in Microsoft Word.....with the days of the week. I made a lot of copies and just write in what I eat every day...including vitamins and medications. Additionally, in the margin below each day, I write anything unusual--such as stomach pains and if I'm sick, the times when I vomited. Finally, I highlight...
  11. Oh, sorry ...I didn't mean that you triggered celiac disease--just that stress can trigger it, so it has a pretty powerful effect. If you haven't had symptoms for awhile, though, I think it's more likely that it's makeup....what about lipstick? I've heard that they aren't all gluten-free, and if you licked your lips or got in your mouth some other way,...

    ARCHIVED Homeopathic Remedy

I doubt it, unless the alcohol is gluten-free. I don't know exactly how this works, but my mom sorta does. Homeopathy, I think, can either make you feel better right away or make you feel worse, but then ultimately build you up (my analogy is to working out--muscles get broken down, but ultimately built up). The other possibility is that it's not the right...
  13. I don't recall very clearly, but I think that it's risky to have barley grass. I thought I remembered from another topic that there are sticky seeds inside, which are bad, but once the crop has ripened or whatever, it's fine. However, since they harvest in bulk, there's a chance that while other plants are ripe or something, one of them is not and the seeds...
  14. Hi! I haven't been getting any better, either. I recently went back to the celiac dr. again, and I am also in the process of trying homeopathic remedies to heal...Open Original Shared Link: I was sick on Thursday and then Saturday with the usual symptoms, though I think that they were as a result of the homeopathic remedy in part. I haven...
  15. WOW! 102 first cousins... ...let's see, I have...seven cousins...
  16. Oh yeah, I was wrong--my dad's parents were tested, as well as my mom's.....so no grandparents have celiac disease, nobody else in my immediate family has celiac disease.....must be some great grandparent or great, great grandparent

    ARCHIVED Palm Pilot

I think you can download a food list...Clan Thompson or something like that...you buy it to download to your palm--they specifically mention the list as being for your palm on the site, last time I checked. Of course, you're probably better off getting all your lists for free (ingredients, etc.) or typing up your own and then downloading--just if you're...
  18. I don't like to talk about it at all.....with family I don't mind what people say or ask, but with friends or strangers, I'd rather it doesn't come up at all--unless I need to mention celiac for some reason. If it has to come up, I don't mind if people ask about symptoms or what the disease is (although it gets tiring once you explain it so often). ...
  19. The company, "Source of Life" makes chewable, animal-shaped vitamins that are gluten-free. The "Animal Parade" kind is gluten-free..
  20. NY Style!...... ....I have to try those... Feeling better today...thanks...I think it might have been the homeopathic remedy--I'm hoping, though, that with some more experimentation, I'll find the right one...maybe I could be healthy (well, healthy-feeling) by 2005!
  21. It definitely could be makeup, although stress is bad, as well. Actually, if you have the gene (but not yet, celiac disease), a very stressful event can trigger celiac. I'm not sure if it triggers celiac-like symptoms, but it's possible. Additionally, I believe there are some ties between stress and the intestines in general.
  22. Ooh, I'll have to save the links........good to have an antibiotic/med. list handy.
  23. Mariann, Can you let me know what you or your children think of the cereal? If Tiffany doesn't like them AND your family doesn't, I doubt that I would. Deb, my system worked exactly opposite to that. I actually had cravings for the foods that hurt me most. I was CRAZY about bagels and pizza in particular, but also macaroni and cheese, other pastas...
  24. I just don't feel it's worth the risk. If I can eat without wheat, rye, barley, malt, and all those foods they are found in, it's not too hard to eliminate oats, also. I don't think it's worth it because the chances of contamination are too great.
  25. Yes, they say that celiac is more common in those of European descent, particularly Northern European. To my knowledge, nobody else in my family has celiac. My grandparents on my mom's side have been tested, my family has been tested...but who knows about my dad's parents or my great-grandparents on both sides--I doubt they were checking for celiac disease...
