  1. Question....(it might be a stupid one!) In GI-land what's the difference, if any, b/t negative lab results and inconclusive lab results? Are there people who actually get "0"s for all of their levels? Also, were there any other labs that should've been a part of this panel?? I know these areprobably really basic questions to many of you so I do...
  2. Thanks for the scientific explanation! I had no idea what it was or where it came from...now it makes sense! "Normal" isn't a bad thing!
  3. Gluten-free "stuff" is on the pricey side, but here are a few more suggestions.... Robert's American Gourmet--Tings Environkidz cereal--Gorilla Munch (these are peanut-free as well!) Terra brand--root vege chips (they have a natural sweetness) Tostito's--my kids like the "circle chips" MiDel brand cookies--chocolate chip and animal crackers Ener-G...
  4. Thanks so much! I figured the recipe was as basic as that but it almost seemed too easy...I didn't want to overlook something silly! My biggest question was about the canning process. I'm *thrilled* to hear that some of you just freeze it; that'll be much easier to do with my little ones. How long does fresh applesauce keep in the fridge and freezer...
  5. Thanks so far!!!!!!!!!! I've found a couple of basic applesauce recipes on-line. Thank God applesauce is gluten-free b/c both of my kids (3 1/2 and 21 months) *love* it!!! Mott's loves me just as much--$$$$ I thought this would be a fun gluten-free cooking activity; Zachary is at the age now where he has so much fun helping in the kitchen.
  6. We're taking the kids apple picking tomorrow. I not only want to make applesauce with them when we get home, BUT I'd like to preserve some for later. Any how-to tips and/or suggestions for canning would be most appreciated! Thanks!
  7. They're *VERY* expensive!!!!!!!!If I buy the Ian's they're $4.99 a box which is absolutely ridiculous!!! I wind up eating whatever my kids don't finish b/c they're so expensive. I'd much rather make nuggets and freeze them. I'll definately give this recipe a try!
  8. Thanks, Matilda! I've suspected Celiac for my little guy since he was about 2 years old. (see my sig.) He's been symptomatic since he was about a year old. He's had an amazing dietary response; we're thankful we identified his issues with gluten at such a young age. As far as I go...clearly Zachary had to get the genes from one of us! That's really...
  9. Sorry for any confusion...this is what the nurse initally told me or at least that's how I understood it. The first conversation with the nurse was kind of the blind leading the blind. Thanks for your help!
  10. My son is highly symptomatic of celiac disease and is, at the very least, gluten sensitive. (see my sig.) He had a truly amazing dietary response. So, yes it's b/c of a family member.
  11. Then do these results as they are mean anything?? I'm certainly not looking for a Dx, but I feel I'd be remiss if I didn't address these results with a GI. I want to do whatever it is I need to, but at the same time I don't want to be on a wild goose chase! Isn't the Immunogloblin A # on my labs the total IgA serum? What kind of info would a Total...
  12. Do I necessarily need to see a GI doctor then? My OB, obviously, referred me to a GI as this is way out of his league! I don't want to blow this off, but I also don't want to make a bigger deal out of it than it is. So confusing............
  13. Thanks for the insight!! Then why in the world would they include it if it doesn't necessarily mean anything?
  14. OK...specifically, my Immunogloblin A levels were high at 420 (range being 70-400) whatever that means!! Mind you, I'm speaking to the nurse at my OB's office who was, quite understandably ,stumbling through my results...I bet she was happy to get my call!! Anyway, here are the results as she read them to me, and I read them back. I'm sorry...
  15. Excellent.........thank you!
  16. I believe it was for the Anti-Endomysial Antibodies. I know there were other labs included in the panel, but I don't have the paperwork yet; I'll be picking it up tomorow.
  17. No, the IgA wasn't the only lab...it was a Celiac "Super Panel". I'm picking up the lab results tomorrow. For those of you who are knowlegable of the different labs and their meanings/indications what does an elevated IgA alone mean? Thanks! Fortunately, the only glutenie stuff in the house is for my husband and I...it's not a lot of stuff!...
  18. At my request, my OB sent me for a Celiac "Super Panel" last week and the Iga (Immunoglobin A) came back elevated. The normal range was 70 - 400 and my level was 420. All of Zachary's labs came back negative however he did test positive for one main-Celiac and one non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity Gene. He's also had a tremendous dietary response to the...
  19. Hi- I wanted to make roll and cut cookie dough for my kids. I usually make the Rich Roll Cookie recipe from the Joy of Cooking.........sooooo good!! I was gonna try just substituting gluten-free flourfrom the Gluten Free Pantry and see how it goes. Anybody have any recipes they *know* work? I figured if I started with Halloween I'd be good to go by...
  20. WOW! these sound yummy!
  21. Don't apologize for venting........God knows we all need to! As per federal code, children between the ages of 3 and 5 years-old who are found to be elibigible for special education services can begin the PreSchool Handicapped class. NOT all kids who have "issues" are found to be eligible to receive services. You do not need a specific Dx to be found...
  22. You've gotta love Mc Dreamy!!!
  23. BINGO! This is exactly who you want to see. It looks like your little guy will be in good hands! Lots of luck! This entire process can be very overwhelming and emotional especially when you're in the ***what?*** stage. I truly do think you'll have some type of answer/Dx long before your son starts first grade. In order to be considered...
  24. Do you know what type of specialist your ped is sending you to? I would recommend a neurodevelopmental pediatrician, specifically one who specializes in PDD. I truly do understand that "dealing with *something*" and ***WHAT*** question. I, too, suspected PDD-NOS due to the sensory issues and language delay when Zachary was about 18 months old...
