Hi everyone, I was hoping maybe someone on this site has been diagnosed with lung deposits and has Sjogrens. My doctor thinks that these deposits may be related to celiac in some way. In Sept went and saw doctor for some routine follow-up CT scans and pullmonary function tests. Figured all would be fine until the results came back showing multiple nodules...

A MRI was the link that I needed to finally get my diagnosis. I had optic neuritis and my eye dr was concerened. They ended up finding demylinization in my brain and thought it to be MS. I had a spinal tap and a visual evoked response test and found it not to be MS but related to the celiac. When the bowels don't work right the toxins have no way of escaping...

ARCHIVED Has Anyone Tried Trazodone For Sleep Deprivation
JodiC replied to marciab's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have been recently taking 25mg of Trazodone for sleep and pain also. I also had the strangest dreams which unfortunately kept me awake all night. I was taking Amitriptyline 10mg before that and found that it worked ten times better than trazodone with no dream side effects. Unfortunaltely, your body tends to get used to the sedative effect within a few... -
ARCHIVED Have You Done A Gluten Challenge?

If Prevacid made it worse you do not have an acid problem. I would definately call my dr and get some labs run. Hope you're feeling better. Good luck! -
ARCHIVED Dq8 - Results?
JodiC replied to JodiC's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I googled DQ8 and found that only 5 to 10% possess that gene. Maybe it means the symptoms are more disturbing to life since almost everyone who messages here has it. -
ARCHIVED Dq8 - Results?
JodiC posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I was just wondering if any of you knew why just having the DQ8 gene is so rare? My doc said that you normally see DQ2 along with it but I only have the one. Does anyone know the significance of this and what it could mean for my sons? I have 2 that are displaying classic celiac symptoms. Although one of them keeps having green and black stools. (food... -

ARCHIVED Have You Done A Gluten Challenge?
JodiC replied to ebrbetty's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You could try Prevacid for the stomach (slow emptying and heartburn) and Amitriptyline 10mg for the chronic pain. My dr. put me on these and I can sleep at night, the fibro pain has diminished, and I can eat again without feeling the need to throw it all up by the end of the day because breakfast hadn't even digested yet. (Sorry if that's gross). Also... -
I was also diagnosed after the birth of my twins. I demanded a complete hystorectomy b/c I was done having kids. Anyway 6 years later the doc thought I should be on HRT, so now I am sitting here with endo flaring up allover again. You never forget that pain. HRT is not worth it.

I read somewhere that warts are caused by a virus that children carry. Tipically adults do not get it unless they have a weakened immune system. Anyone else heard of this? I just had 2 warts pop us. I haven't had one since I was 8 or so. I think you can go on web md and find out more.

ARCHIVED Diarrea---not Fun..
JodiC replied to gabrielle's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I don't know if you will see this since it was awaile ago but..... You can find acidolfolis, bifidus, and lactobilius at any health store. You can even get it at walmart or target thought the quality will not be as good. These bacteria are naturally produced by our bodies in our intestines. Search the web for more answers, you can find out about anything... -
Cortisol is the test for Cushings. It involves both blood and 24 hour urine tests.

ARCHIVED Have You Done A Gluten Challenge?
JodiC replied to ebrbetty's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I recently did a 3 month gluten challenge due to some of the same symptoms as you. (after being off gluten for 1year). The challenge made me hyper-senstive and created erosions in my stomach for which I now take Prevacid (until they heal). I wouldn't recommend the challenge at all. Unless your DR. can give you some concrete results. Don't forget there... -
The liver can also cause unexplained bruising. There is a correlation between Celiac and how well the liver deals with the toxins it produces. Sometimes the liver enzymes will be elevated and can explain extra bruising. Try a liver detox to see if it helps. 2 tbs real lemon (can be juice), 1 tbs pure maple syrup, 1/10th tsp cayenne pepper added to...

ARCHIVED Looking For Answers For My 4 Year Old Son Please
JodiC replied to Chako's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I'm sorry to hear about all the problems your son is having. First of all don't take him off of wheat before the scopes. Gluten has to be present when the scope is done. You seem to know some of the allergies he has, but I was curious if he ever had the ELISA test done? This will show all the allergies for sure. The reason they are looking at his nails... -

Try adding intestinal flora to your diet. These are acidolpholus, bufidus, and lactobillis. You may just need to reintroduce the good bacteria to your system. Celiac and digestive problems strip us of these. -
ARCHIVED York Labs Finger-stick Rapid Test Kit For Celiac Disease
JodiC replied to elbar's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I haven't tried it personally, but saw the results of a guy who did. He was at one of the support group meetings and brought in the findings. He seemed quite happy with it. I'm saving up to try it myself. That along with biofeedback. It listed all the foods he could and couldn't eat. -
There are no dumb questions. Gut flora is what you need to keep candida (yeast) in check. They are acidopholus, bifidus and lactobillis. You can either supplement with these or eat yogurt. I recommend supplements. You need to make sure the microrganisms are live cultured. When the intestinal flora is out of wack with bad bacteria the good bacteria cannot...

ARCHIVED Products I Have To Use For Work
JodiC replied to Lister's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
In regards to inhaling gluten at work. I asked my husband about flour on and in the bags of buns and French fries. He said that the minute you open a bag that is vacuum sealed the flour is in the air. Same goes for bread bags at home and any product that may use flour to prevent caking. My husband worked at burger king when he was younger and says there... -
ARCHIVED Ingredient Changes
JodiC posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
As I read through some of these forums I have had to relook at my diet numerous times. I thought we couldn't have dextrin, yet someone wrote we could. Someone said Kraft cheese had gluten, yet when I call the company they say it is 100%gluten free and that they would list it if it was on there. Someone else wrote that both Kahlua and Irish Cream have gluten... -
Speaking of Flora, Shaklee makes an Optiflora supplement that works for the bloat. This is all you need to get the good bacteria back. Also try taking enzymes.

Everyone has to go through the 5 stages of grief. I think dealing with anything in life has to be done in stages. Some are new to this and some are not. The people here give advice and we have to make the choice to accept or deny it. I haven't seen any negative postings, but I'm new to the boards. Unfortunately, not new to the disease.

ARCHIVED So Frustrated! Help Me! Please!
JodiC replied to olalisa's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
When my family or friends or anyone for that matter cannot seem to comprehend the severity of this disease I just ask them if they would take someone with lung cancer to a smoke filled bar, someone with gastric bypass to an all you can eat buffet or someone who had a bad heart on a roller coaster ride. Sounds rough, I know, but this is our health. No one...
