Okay, about two years ago I started having really itchy red bumps on the backs of my legs, usually only one or two at a time. Sometimes they would be pus filled, sometimes just seemingly red (although its possible I scratched the pus off before noticing what they originally looked like). Then one day I had these small pus filled bumps on the backs of both...

would you mind telling me what homeopathic remedy you use for gastric reflux? i'd be interested in trying that.

ARCHIVED Brown Rice Syrup
GravStars replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My bottle of Lundberg Sweet Dreams Brown Rice Syrup says gluten free in big letters on the back and also "is gluten-free and wheat-free". The only ingredients listed are: organic brown rice, pure filtered water. -
ARCHIVED Amy's New Indian Meals
GravStars replied to BallardWA's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The Amy's products that say gluten-free also say that they were produced in a facility that produces wheat so I interpret that as "this product contains no gluten ingredients but they could be cross-contaminated". -
i've only tried homeopathy to help quit smoking and for a cold and i have to say it didn't seem to help, but i have an open mind and i know some people swear by it (i worked in a health food store for a while). but what i know about homeopathy is that the remedies are (purposefully) diluted so much that almost none of the original ingredient(s) remain. so...

ARCHIVED Yellow Hands And Feet
GravStars replied to parla's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
hi, i am undiagnosed and am just starting a gluten-free trial diet again even though i've suspected this for years (never went gluten-free longer than a week) but i have noticed the same yellowness to my skin. it's not drastic but there is a definite yellowish tinge around my armpits, hands and face. i first noticed this 8 years ago. my eyes are not yellow... -
ARCHIVED Shaving Cream With Oats
GravStars posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The shaving cream I use is Aveeno Shaving Gel for sensitive skin and it contains oat kernal as an ingredient. Because of the cross-contamination issue with wheat, I am wondering if this would be considered OK to use? Thanks! -
ARCHIVED Gluten Ease
GravStars replied to vallojo's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
i don't think that stuff is intended for celiacs, just people with general digestive issues relating to gluten consumption. if i'm right, i think it helps digest gluten but it doesn't stop the body's autoimmune reaction to gluten that celiac causes. or is that the point, just to to help the symptoms in glutening situations? -
hi ursula, thanks for the response. i have googled bed bugs and my bites or whatever they are don't sound like bed bug bites from what i read. i haven't been getting as many the past few days, but a few are still popping up on a daily basis. several months ago i got a couple over a few nights, then they stopped. an inconsistent bug maybe! certain ones just...

i don't think its shingles. thanks for all the suggestions. i wanted to rule out DH, but no one yet seems to think it is, or has said it sounds like it, so i guess that's a no or don't know so far. hopefully it'll stop now that i washed the sheets.

i know what you mean, i feel like that a lot. i always think its due to chronic anxiety. i wish i could have a normal day too, i remember what those were like. ha!

no its not symmetrical and that's why i'm not sure. does it always in every case occur symmetrically? most of the bumps are on my left foot, some on my right, legs, 2 on each arm (but in different locations). not long ago i did get a symmetrical series of bumps on my hands, that were whitish to red in color but did not pus up. they went away. that's what...

thanks. no, haven't changed detergents. and after reading about bed bugs, i'm pretty sure that's not what it is. bed bug bites produce welts and then hard, white-colored bumps. these are distinctly red with clear pus filled middles (like a blister), then break, scab over and remain really red. they aren't like flea bites either. and i don't notice the...

they are the family dogs, we also have two cats living here, so fleas is a possibility, i will have to ask my mom. if they are fleas she would surely have bites too because the cats spend more time in her room and on her bed than mine, and bugs seem to like her. but the last time we had fleas and i got bitten it was not like this, they didn't fill with pus...

Well I had to google scabies b/c I'd never heard of it. I don't see how I could have gotten it. I haven't had "personal relations" with anyone in a long time, and because I have no job or social life right now, and little contact with people, certaintly not prolonged physical contact of any kind, so I dunno. It says they take 4 to 6 weeks to appear and things...

OK, so I've suspected celiac as a possibility for a while but haven't had the money or insurance to get tested. I went gluten-free once for 5 days and another time 7 days, no improvement, so I stopped (I know I probably didn't give it enough time). I'm going to get tested when I can, but decided to go gluten-free again, this time for at least a month. So...

ARCHIVED Other Reasons For Positive Tests
GravStars posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
something i've been wondering, and can't seem to find any information on: are there other possible causes/conditions that can cause a positive blood test or positive enterolabs stool test results, besides it being celiac disease/gluten intolerance? what would those conditions be? i am waiting to get an enterolabs test (without insurance, it seems like the... -
ARCHIVED How Long Off Gluten Before Int Can Affect False Negative Test Results
GravStars replied to dawnsusan's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I completely relate to this but I don't have medical insurance so my options are more limited. I decided to go gluten-free for at least a month, see how I improve and if I react to eating it again after that period, and then (regardless of that response) to order the stool test from Enterolabs (Open Original Shared Link) because you can be off gluten for... -
ARCHIVED Starving / Bloated Belly
GravStars replied to au natural's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
bloating isn't fat though, it's a digestive disturbance producing intestinal gases at a higher rate than normal. my stomach is always bloated too and i'm way underweight, not an ounce of body fat. how long have you been on the diet, maybe you need more time for it to clear up? or maybe its a secondary issue that needs to be addressed separately from being... -
ARCHIVED The Smell Of Foods Affect Me
GravStars replied to mick66's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
well it's interesting b/c about 6 years ago, i actually started feeling i should avoid or even cut out wheat entirely, and i didn't know what celiac disease or gluten was then. i have no official diagnosis yet (no insurance) but plenty of symptoms, so i am giving the diet a try. i'll see if my body/intuition was giving me a message, or just messing with me... -
ARCHIVED The Smell Of Foods Affect Me
GravStars replied to mick66's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
well i think that's what symptoms are doing, but that's a different issue. responding to what mick said, it sounds like a hypersensitivity to strong foods. like if you've ever been hungover and the smell (and sight) of certain food makes you want to be sick. usually its the richer foods (like the things mick mentioned) that are the worst, and they are also... -
ARCHIVED The Smell Of Foods Affect Me
GravStars replied to mick66's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
maybe it's your body's way of telling you to avoid these foods, at least for the time being. i think when one is in a very sensitive state (physically and/or emotionally), strong, rich foods like that don't sit well (esp. for healing). and of course some of it isn't very healthy (fried and fast foods). at least that's my opinion. -
ARCHIVED Celiac Blood Test... What Do I Ask For?
GravStars replied to GravStars's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms

ARCHIVED Hair Cut
GravStars replied to jennyj's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
i don't know about you guys, but as soon as i started paying attention to gluten in shampoos, i noticed that i often get shampoo in my mouth when i rinse it out. even with keeping my mouth closed and my head back (so it doesn't run down the front of my face), i can taste small amounts afterwards. but maybe i'm just an incompetent shampoo-er. -
ARCHIVED Spelt
GravStars replied to Fiddle-Faddle's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Wow. I didn't expect a Wikipedia controversy! Spelt contains gluten, so obviously celiacs can't eat it. I wasn't suggesting the link for anyone to base a health decision on. It was the first link I got back that had some technical information about spelt and I thought maybe some people would be curious to read about its origins, blah blah blah.
