ARCHIVED Reoccurring Rash On Bottom
mandyann replied to Granny Garbonzo's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I also have two patches on my rear,(one on each side) that were red and inflammed and itchy when I was eating gluten. I went off of it for about 6 weeks last spring and the redness got better. I went back on gluten for testing for about 3 months and the rash worsened. My tests came back positive for Celiac's and I've been off gluten for 3 months now. The... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Since May, Chronic Fatigue Better, Now Fibromyalgia
mandyann replied to Mia H's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Mia- I don't know if I can offer alot of help but my symptoms are similiar, the joint pain w/o swelling and the stiffness. I did feel much better with my pregnancy but it wasn't until I was in my fourth month or so, and I felt wonderful, much better than I do when I'm not pregnant. My energy came back and the pain was gone. You would think that your... -
I've been gluten free for about 11 weeks and the only improvement that I have seen so far is with an itchy persistant rash that I have had for several years. I still have periodic migraines (so I guess that's an improvement), and pain and stiffness in my muscles. How long did it take you all to see improvements?

ARCHIVED Feeling A Little Down After A Visit To The Allergist
mandyann replied to mandyann's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Thanks! Yes, I know about McDonald's, it's rare that we go there and I thought I was safe with the fries but obviously not. Same with chocolate, it just can't be a coincidence if it's happened three times after eating various types of chocolate. I've come along way since a year ago, when I wasn't interested in trying an elimination diet during the holidays... -
ARCHIVED Feeling A Little Down After A Visit To The Allergist
mandyann replied to mandyann's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I did do an IgG test through the Great Smokies Lab which came up with a mild sensitivity to a few things like yogurt, alfalfa, cane sugar and corn but it didn't pick up on dairy or wheat. I have seen a naturopath, osteopath and chiropractor but now I'm back under the care of a MD. The only time that I saw a turnaround of my symptoms was last spring when I... -
ARCHIVED Feeling A Little Down After A Visit To The Allergist
mandyann posted a topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Yesterday, I went to the allergist in hopes of getting to the bottom of my symptoms. I've been off gluten since early October after a positive result on the Celiac blood panel. I also just rec'd my results back from Enterolab which confirmed the gluten intolerance as well as casein. So, now I'm off dairy too and went to see the allergist to see if he could... -
I had some fries at McDonalds last night, after checking to make sure that the fryer was not used for anything else but fries. The last time I checked their website, which was probably over the summer, I saw that the fries were apparently gluten free. This morning I woke up with what I thought was the flu and I just now made the connection with the fries...

ARCHIVED Headaches In Celiac Patients
mandyann replied to jebus's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I too have had headaches for at least 20 years and have recently gone gluten free. My headaches have persisted but are getting better. The one other big trigger for me I'm finding is chocolate . Now that gluten is not a factor it seems that it's easier to pin point the other triggers or sensitivities. -
ARCHIVED Has Anyone Ever Experienced The Same Symptoms?
mandyann replied to Charlie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm finding that I tend to have reactions to chocolate and when this happens I get very bad muscle aches, pain in the bottoms of my feet and swollen lymph glands (according to my doctor). I've been off chocolate now for 2 weeks and haven't had one of those episodes. I've also been off the gluten for 8 weeks now. It's a process of elimination for now and... -
ARCHIVED How Long Did It Take For Your Blood Test To Come Back?
mandyann replied to elaine33's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks for sharing that with me. I have been suspicious of sugar for about 6 months now and my mother has a friend that gets migraines when she eats sugar. I just checked and the first time they ran my blood test for Celiac's, it took 3 days and the second 7 days. I hope you hear something soon. I need to find another option for my son, I don't think... -
ARCHIVED How Long Did It Take For Your Blood Test To Come Back?
mandyann replied to elaine33's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My blood tests took longer, I can't remember exactly but 5 or 6 working days probably. Is Ryan your son? I am considering having my 5 year old tested by a blood test but I worry about how he will do. Do you mind me asking how you figured out your sugar intolerance? That seems to be a big one for me because when I have it, I get lots of muscle pain and fatigue... -
ARCHIVED When It Comes To Cheese
mandyann replied to Corkdarrr's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I can very much relate to what you are going through. I just found out yesterday through my enterolab results that I have to give up dairy. I have given up everything else and now my one favorite treat, coffee with 1/2 and 1/2 is on the list. So, I went out and bought some non dairy alternatives and we'll see how it goes but I've tried them before and they... -
ARCHIVED My Enterolab Tests Are In..
mandyann replied to mandyann's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Well, I did test positive on the Gliadin IGG/IGA panel that my doctor did, twice. But according to this, I do not have Celiac's only a gluten sensitivity, right? Now, I'm really confused. -
ARCHIVED My Enterolab Tests Are In..
mandyann posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Well, my Enterolab tests results are finally in. (it only took two weeks but seemed like forever) I understand all but the gene testing. Would those of you who are familiar with Enterolab give me your input on my gene testing results. It sounds my 5 year old son would test positive, since I seem to have both genes. Is it common to have both genes? Is it worth... -
ARCHIVED Coffee-your Thoughts
mandyann replied to a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I really like my coffee too. Not that I drink alot, just a cup a day. When I gave up coffee (and the dairy that was in it), is when I started feeling better. It's a long story but I am back to my cup a day habit and about ready to do an elimination diet, so I know it will be going away soon, at least temporarily. I gave up gluten, six weeks ago and it is... -
ARCHIVED Newbie In Boulder, Co
mandyann replied to MrBob's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Bob- I'm from Boulder as well. I also have alot of joint and muscle pain which I'm finding is aggravated by what I eat. My next step is a trip down to Denver to the National Jewish Hospital for an appointment with an allergist. I'm going to go take a look at the food doc's site that was mentioned as well, it might be worth a trip to Co Springs. I've also... -
Hi- Tylenol PM has the same ingredient as Benadryl (diphenhydramine), plus the Tylenol. I find that Benadryl always helps me when I am having trouble sleeping. Also, for an herbal sleep aid, I know that Valerian works really well, or Kava. I've never had much luck with homeopathics but I've seen the one that you mentioned.

ARCHIVED Anyone Ever Diagnosed With Fibromyalgia?
mandyann replied to Fiddle-Faddle's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I've been diagnosed with fibro by my osteopath. I have been gluten free for 6 weeks now after a positive result on the Celiac blood panel. My symtoms are getting better but I'm still not feeling great. My symptoms are all in my muscles and include migraines, I have very few stomach issues. I do know that it took me 8 weeks last spring on a gluten free diet... -
My MD seems to think a trip to an allergist is the next step for me. We discussed the whole allergy vs. intolerance subject but she still thinks it's a worthwhile visit. My appt's in two weeks, I'll keep you posted if it gets me anywhere.

ARCHIVED Muscle And Joint Pain
mandyann replied to Budew's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I was just reading the links that Ursula mentioned and it really does make sense to do a complete elimination diet if you are still having symptoms with a gluten free diet. (which is my case). I do know that when I followed the Paleo diet last spring all of my symptoms disappeared and I had no need for any medication. It was whenl I went back on all the foods... -
ARCHIVED Muscle And Joint Pain
mandyann replied to Budew's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I also have alot of muscle and joint pain. I always thought that they were related to my migraines but now I am beginning to realize that food sensitivites are involved. My pain used to start in my low back and would either settle in my right hip or go up my back to the base of my head. It would always be worse in those areas if I had a migraine. I am too... -
I made myself very sick with Hershey's miniatures two weeks ago. Specifically, Reeses and Snickers, both of which are listed as gluten free on the Hershey's website (but not the miniatures). Also, a while back I gave myself an instant migraine from a 3 Muskateer's bar. My doctor feels that there is alot of cross contamination going on at the manufacturing...

ARCHIVED How Long To Eat Gluten Before Testing?
mandyann replied to dennymel's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I was off gluten for 8 weeks before going back on it for two before my blood test. That test came back "equivocal", but when I was tested again after three months on gluten, it was positive. If I'm not mistaken, with the enterolab testing, you don't need to be on gluten to test. -
ARCHIVED Headaches In Celiac Patients
mandyann replied to jebus's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi- I'm going on 6 weeks gluten free and am still having migraines. Last spring when I went off gluten the first time, my migraines were awful in the first two weeks but by about 8 weeks I started feeling better. I did go back on gluten over the summer for the blood work which came back positive. I'm hopeful that my migraines are caused by gluten, I'd give... -
ARCHIVED Everyone Thinks I'm Crazy...
mandyann replied to Corkdarrr's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Hi- I went gluten free for about 6 weeks last spring because of my headaches. I have very few stomach issues and up until now I would have considered it the strongest part of my body. I was desperate to find a cure or cause of my headaches and have tried practically everything. Anyway, it wasn't until I dropped the dairy that I started feeling better. I...
