  1. Rinne, It's so good to finally see you. Jeny, I don't know about your situation with the different computers. Karen, Did you see the post about gliadin foods that someone posted earlier. What's the thing with altoids? Aren't they a breath freshener? I've noticed on other threads that you are the altoids lady. Susan, How...
  2. Welcome Nikki. What area of the country do you live in? There may be people in your state that can suggest stores to find gluten free food at.
  3. Great news about her smiles. Not so good news about possible problems with beef. We'll continue to ask to God to direct the doctors in her care.
  4. No, it's a reaction to something in the dairy. Of the panel I got done (it doesn't list every dairy item), the only thing I wasn't allergic to was cheddar cheese. Maybe because it is aged. I currently still eat butter but am not going to buy more when it is gone. For me it is a mild allergy. I have seasonal allergies (June-August) so I don't know if...
  5. Celiac is an intolerance to gluten. You may also be allergic, which an allergy test would tell you. I am both allergic and intolerant to gluten. As far as lactose, I believe that is an allergy but I could be wrong. Usually casein is referred to as an intolerance. An intolerance to casein can also cause intestinal damage. I am dairy allergic, but not...
  6. Celiac is an intolerance to wheat. It does damage to the intestines and if it gets bad enough can damage other organs, cause other autoimmune diseases. Allergies can be life threatening if they get bad enough. They are more likely to range from a stuffy nose to anaphylactic shock or death. Untreated celiac can kill you and other autoimmune diseases...
  7. Rachel, You really need to lay low on the ice cream for awhile. I know you want to gain weight, but sheesh. If you can't limit it to just a cup to a pint....it's best to let it go. I can't imagine that that much dairy is good for you. Gotta get the baby to sleep and hand over the computer for awhile.
  8. Glad to hear you are doing better Tavi. Haven't heard nary a word from Canadian Karen today.
  9. Definately get him totally gluten free with no cheating and be very careful about cross contamination. Check his meds to see if they have any gluten ingredients in them, as well as if they have any soy or dairy ingredients. Also check personal care products. If you can get all the gluten, soy and dairy removed then you can better tell what you are dealing...
  10. Susan, Hadn't you been glutened recently. That would definately make you more emotional than usual. I don't think you are crazy. I always enjoy your posts, so don't worry about being off topic. We will never kick you out.....if anyone gets kicked out it will be themselves that don't want to be part of this lovely town. Stay away from trouble...
  11. Robbin, Everyone is entitled to having down days. Do you have definate safe foods you can eat. I forget, were you the one posted about the tea? Can you eat cashews? I posted some ice cream recipes a few to 10 pages back (I think). Hope the storm passes quickly with your power intact.
  12. Yum. Stephanie, That is very irritating of the city. I frequently adopted cats, unfortunately had to take some back because my children weren't treating them very nice. They were too nice to ruin and I figured they'd find another good home. The shelter here is very proactive about adoptions. We like to gab on this thread.
  13. Hi Megan and welcome. It is possible that your daughter is having a reaction to gluten. Soy and milk can cause problems too. You can't cut out the gluten yet (if any is in her forumulas), and if it is possible to relactate, you can't cut out your gluten yet if you are having blood work and scopes done. At the very least she is having an allergic...
  14. We bought arrowhead last time and I got a headache too, but I didn't put it totally together. I think my hubby wound up pouring it out and getting me our filtered water. We buy bottled water when we need a clean bottle.
  15. Jeny, You survived.....we knew you would.....even if barely. Jen, Welcome to the thread, come back once in awhile. Rachel, Glad to hear that you are doing better. I would have had no sympathy for you either. Susan, Have a wonderful time at the beach! The dingo girls will be so jealous. Julie, Thanks for always...
  16. I'm sorry. I feel your pain and anger. There is always enough love from grandparents to be a part of every grandchilds life, sick or healthy. You are right to be hurt. Your sister shouldn't expect all the sympathy. It sounds like Lanigan has celiac. Diabetes also runs with celiac a lot. Is Lanigans appointment today or was that last week? I know he...
  17. Donna and Susan, Heat will make you drowsy, make sure you stay well hydrated. Glad to hear things are cooling down. Julie, No pain no gain they always say. Doesn't make it much fun though when you hurt. We'll see how we do with the millet flour and millet. If that's the only gliadin food we have maybe it won't be so bad. I didn't think millet...
  18. Julie, I got rid of all our gliadin foods except millet. That wasn't mentioned among the first list of things pages back. Millet flour is used in Annalise Roberts bread so hopefully we won't have a problem with it. I am allergic to gliadin but don't remember if it was just high on the low allergy or low on the moderate allergy. Talitha is thrilled...
  19. Taz, I'm aware of the MMR problems in the UK as I get the NVIC updates. It is obviously about money. I am one who believes they should offer the shots separate and let parents decide what they want to get for their children. The immune system is overloaded with all the vaccines given at once and I read reports about the fact that some don't take hold...
  20. We will continue to pray for Megan's recovery and that her fever will come down and stabilize soon and that the doctors will find what is causing the fever to begin with. Hugs and love to you all.
  21. Seth is doing good today. I didn't give him banana last night. Don't know why that would have bothered him though. Mitch thinks maybe because it was chunkier it gave him problems, but he ate it just fine. He had no problems last time he had them.....of course these aren't organic but bananas should be safe since they have a peelable skin. Boy...
  22. Just thought I would update everyone on this boys situation. He lost the court case and has been ordered to report to the hospital for further treatment. He is appealing the decision.
  23. Don't know about a gluten allergy. I would assume it would be the same with peanuts or any allergy. With gluten intolerance or celiac it doesn't matter whether it is a little or a lot. Your body will react whether it is obvious to you or not. I was one who didn't have any obvious symptoms but now if I get glutened I feel it the next day. This just happened...
