ARCHIVED Introduction
AndreaB replied to Kirian's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I was one who didn't have any obvious symptoms. I was diagnosed intolerant by enterolab. Just wanted to say welcome. -
ARCHIVED Hello New Here With A Question
AndreaB replied to angelsmummy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My husband and I are soy intolerant, my two oldest were just below the intolerant line. I am dairy allergic (low), but no one is intolerant. My two oldest and I are gluten intolerant. Haven't had the baby tested yet. My whole house is gluten, soy and dairy free. There are numerous substitutes for gluten. I had replaced dairy with soy and then soy with... -
ARCHIVED Biopsy Or Enterolab For My Baby?
AndreaB replied to azmom3's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Biopsies are hit and miss. If you decide to do the biopsy and it is negative, then what? Will you keep your son on a gluten filled diet or still or have him go gluten free. Would the family think that the gluten free diet wasn't necessary with a negative biopsy. I realize you still have the question of whether they would accept enterolab too. I recommend... -

AndreaB replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Tavi, I'm not sure. I looked at Dryers and the only frozen yogurt they list is with Praline is Caramel Praline Crunch which has modified food starch. Have you had this dish before, the orange chicken? -

AndreaB replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Patti, Can you use arrowroot? I use that as a sub for cornstarch in recipes, including the bread and muffins mixes that call for cornstarch. I hear a baby.....that sure was a short nap. Well, we are going through Cecile withdrawals. -

Good afternoon, evening Cecile, Celia! Uhoh, I'm sorry Patti. Minor oversite, we've all made those before. Hopefully this will clear quickly. -
ARCHIVED Megan's Gagging Isn't Any Better
AndreaB replied to TCA's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Wow Alison. Sounds like God's intervention to me. My hubby's family is from Pennsylvania. More great news for Megan. She is such a fighter and Cole sounds precious too. -

I'm with you guys today (Tavi and Donna). I found something else that has barley in it in the cupboard yesterday. I probably inhaled particles when I was dumping and cleaning it out. I never had problems before going gluten free. Now I have minor stomach upset, loose stool and I'm all better. I guess I'll always know when I've been glutened won't I.... -

Agar-Agar is among the seaweed family I think. I got mine at the co-op up here. And there it sits in the cupboard. Very expensive but you don't need much. It could probably replace gelatin also. That's going to be something I look into for it. GGGRRRRRR. I can't find the cookbook I'm looking for that I think has substitutions rations for... -

ARCHIVED What's The Latest On Introducing Gluten Before 6 Months?
AndreaB replied to kjoe58's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
This is something I'm struggling with too. I found out about my allergy to gluten (see sig) and then about my intolerance to gluten because of my infant son (8 months old). I just bought baby oatmeal to give him. I'll probably wait another week so I can introduce one more fruit before he tries the oatmeal. I just started him on solids when he was 7 months... -

Susan, Add us to your new family. HUGS! I can only say that your understanding of what is behind your family's depression will make you a stronger person and more compassionate to what they are dealing with. If they choose to stay blind to something like the gluten free diet that would help ease their depression then they will be like many others... -

ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
AndreaB replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Donna, I hope you continue to improve throughout the day. I know the heat can sap a lot out of you. I would have thought your blood sugar would have been affecting the shaking.....did you eat enough protein, drink enough water yesterday? -
ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
AndreaB replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Chelsea, That sounds like a good approach. With people becoming more aware of celiac and gluten intolerance the need for gluten free chefs/cooks will be increasing. Ryan, I'm sorry about your son. My daughter is only 6 1/2 but she almost always seems to be worse after she sees grandma. She has only stayed the night with her once but now... -

ARCHIVED Celiac, Irregular Menstrual Cycle, Birth Control Polls
AndreaB replied to leslie j's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My periods were fairly regular with heavy bleeding the first few days. I hated it. I went on the pill when I was 20 and they evened out for reasons listed above. After I went off the pill 10 years later they stayed even but got heavier over the years. Three kids later (still waiting for my first cycle after this last one), they had started getting irregular... -
ARCHIVED Spelt
AndreaB replied to Fiddle-Faddle's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I only tried spelt a couple times (pasta) and didn't like it. I have also found out I'm spelt allergic. I never had any symptoms prior to going gluten free but one of the things my infant son reacted to (eczema) was either barley malt or soy lecithin. I am totally gluten and soy free now and he is free of eczema now. -
ARCHIVED 11 Month Old With "d"
AndreaB replied to jayhawkmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Sounds like he is gluten intolerant anyway. How is your oldest? My two oldest are gluten intolerant through enterolab. I just bought some baby oatmeal to try my youngest on. Not looking foward to that. His eczema didn't clear up until I went totally gluten and soy free. Your sig says you recently went gluten free if I remember right. I'm assuming he... -

We are fine. I'm just in a quiet mood I guess, which is why I haven't been posting too much today. Of course, maybe I'm just too tired after reading 30 pages to catch up. Seth is great, but very tired. Just started getting him on a schedule and I had to go shopping today. I almost hate to go grocery shopping anymore since it always takes the alotted...
