ARCHIVED My Son....i Am Scared
AndreaB replied to chgomom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Yes, definately get him tested. If his father needs that to keep him gluten free than that is very important. His health will not improve if his father does not stand behind this diet. -
ARCHIVED Torn About How To Test My Son, Lots Of Questions
AndreaB replied to Sarah8793's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
1) I would test regardless. I did enterolab testing with the 4 of 5 of us (just not baby yet) based on my allergy tests stating I was allergic to gluten among other things. 3 out of 4 of us tested positive for active gluten intolerance and all have 2 genes that either predispose to celiac or gluten sensitivity. 2) It wouldn't hurt to get the blood... -

Question Mitch and I are soy intolerant (plus I suspect baby) and Talitha and Micah scored 9 with enterolab with 10 being an intolerance. We have gone soy free but my question is this.... If you were intolerant to soy would you use something with soy in it for topical reasons. I have a jar of older noxema and a jar of newer noxema. The newer one... -

The spoons theory certainly put things in perspective doesn't it. I'm sure I must be one of the few that doesn't know what Red Bull is. -

Did you have problems with bumble bars themselves or just wanting to eat too many....I forget. We just got into Lara bars...need to add some more fiber...especially when my daughter is off rice for a week. She seems to be doing ok. I also wonder how corn is with her since she still has a few tummy troubles. Would a glutening last this long...it's... -

No problem Julie, great minds think alike on this thread. I sure hope Scott doesn't bump us....but I guess it doesn't matter as long as the thread isn't killed. Of course we have newscaster Celia so we can just start another thread about Rachelville and including our progress and setbacks with getting healthy again. -

How about the peacemaker. If you're the greeter that would mean more of the peacemaker wouldn't it? Celia, I'm so sorry...laughter is good for the soul when your down but not the head when it's pounding huh. -

I love the peacefulness of snow, but yes, hate the roads...especially when Mitch is out on them all day. -

What state has all the weather conditions we want. I happen to believe that southern Oregon may be one and suitable. They have lots of snow in the winter and lots of sun in the summer and rain in between. Also could be near enough to the coast for Celia...except I don't know if any dolphins are here since the waters are colder than the gulf. -

I really like the Mennonite homeschool materials. I like that Jesus is throughout the whole curriculum, not many curriculum's can say that. So Rinne and Miamia and Chelsea are our main cooks/chefs. Tony is captain for any water craft, so he can take Picard out for diving. Mitch is truck driver, so he can haul whatever we need. I will... -

Soap, where did you guys learn to make soap? Licked to death. That sounds familiar. I hope the Mesa Sunrise continues to be the answer to your recent "d". Rinne, I also extend my "sorry" about your friend. It's so hard to lose someone and I can just imagine what his family is going through, especially with little ones. One of my husbands co-workers... -
Has anyone ever said big things come in small packages? The banana would certainly qualify for that. For some reason I'm mildly allergic to bananas so I can't eat them very often anymore. It's a pity when they are so good. I don't know about the fridge aside from the fact that they turn brown pretty quick. I love to freeze them for "ice cream" (sorbet...

ARCHIVED Megan's Gagging Isn't Any Better
AndreaB replied to TCA's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Tanya, I hope Megan and Cole end up sleeping at the same time at some point today so you can catch some z's. I don't know how you do it...I get really crabby when I am consitently down on sleep like you are. You're a great, albeit tired Mother! -
ARCHIVED Argh, Eczema. What Else Can I Do?
AndreaB replied to frenchiemama's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I bought an expensive balm from Australia to combat my son's eczema while we were trying to get his under control. Google david hosking's soothing lavendar face and body balm. He also has eczema cream but this one was one recommended for babies. -

Sounds great Susan...you're hired. You and I can be the ones that hate to shop. I like the idea of a lake or stream setting with the mountains as a backdrop also. We'd just have to figure out Celia's dolphins. Maybe we could have a cabin on the ocean. I also like the ocean, just not the storms where she is and it's always incredibly windy here... -

I think Evie volunteered to be a milker. How 'bout a teacher. I'm going to be homeschooling mine, but I assume that we'd have the kidlets go to our own school. Celia, you need to be the planner. -
