  1. Rachel, It sound like Mango's post will be really helpful to you. I tested low on the allergy scale to gliadin and moderate to gluten so I wonder how I will do with these. I just bought some alternate grain flours just in case T has a more permanent reaction with rice. Of course it could be anything. Her HSP is supposed to be gone until the first cold...
  2. That's self install. If you are handy at things like that he is available to help over the phone...you just have to let him know when you plan to install so he makes sure he's there. He does have an 800 number. Check out his site. www.cleanairpurewater.com or www.cleanairpurewater.com/water_equipment.html Rachel and Floridian, You need to...
  3. The Kitchen Defender is just the kitchen sink. He sells a whole house unit for about $1200 I think. He says a lot of people start with the kitchen and will buy showerhead filters and save up the money for the whole house system.
  4. Rachel, Don't be too hard on yourself. I can very easily understand wanted to eat something else, especially when you have so little you can eat right now. Yes peanut butter is a fat. All nuts have good fat, but it's still fat and if you can't tolerate fats right now, best avoided. I'm sorry you don't feel well again. I was hoping you'd have...
  5. WATER UPDATE! Ok. I called Jim (www.cleanairpurewater.com) and asked him about the carbon filters. They are coconut derived. Patti, He said his customers that used Poland water before his system prefer his system. Vincent, We paid $275 for a three stage Kitchen Defender which includes everything needed to install unless you need a different...
  6. We had a kitchen defender we purchased and installed a few months back. It is a three stage since our water is not that good. I'll have to call the guy and find out about the charcoal stuff. I'll update when I get some answers. Patti and Celia...you guys are too much. Susan, Are you feeling any better today? Rachel, Are you feeling...
  7. I'm sorry Tanya. It's hard to put our head knowledge of God being in control to practice as heart knowledge isn't it. The 25th is coming up fast and I am relieved they moved her date up. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and little Megan. If it's any consolation...if you can't pull her off of sulfite foods now, you'll be able to soon. I'll be curious...
  8. If you are sure you're not getting any hidden glutens or cross contamination then aside from dairy products, soy could be a problem. You would need to give a little bit more time to see if eliminating dairy has a positive effect on your health. You could eliminate any soy you eat as well but then you wouldn't know if it was dairy or soy that was the culprit...
  9. Erika, I just looked at Pediasure's ingredients online. I don't know which one you get but one of the possible problems could be hidden gluten in the artiricial flavorings or monodiglycerides. Other's may know more about this particular brand. One thing you would probably want to do is call the manufacturer. I you can swing the money I would highly...
  10. You'll find me repeated a lot of what Ursula said. There are no false positives for blood work. Whether you go through the biopsy depends on what you want to try and find out. I've heard many people post about wanting it done and just as many post that they weren't going to do it. It's a personal decision. If you decide to do the biopsy, Jack must...
  11. Good news Shai.
  12. Miamia, Keep us posted as to how the med works for you. You and Rachel be sure to let that super nice guy get some work done. That kind of personal attention is sure nice though isn't it.
  13. Hang in there Susan. I know it's hard but each day gets better and each day we get stronger. We are here to celebrate and comfort...don't worry about crashing the party...it won't happen. Patti and Celia, Aquafina is good brand. I watched a show a few years back that tested the bottled water. There were only 3 or 4 that were good...
  14. She doesn't like spicier food. Anything that's a little spicey she might eat but has a very low tolerance. She does like things well seasoned though...(ie garlic and basil are her favorites, along with onion powder). I think she likes rosemary too. I didn't really season the pot roast and she didn't like it. I'll experiment more next time. She did eat...
  15. For your number 3 catagories...were you eaten any of them? I had testing done too which is what led me to testing through enterolab. Mine was listed as Low, Moderate or High so I assume it's the same with your 1,2,3. I left off of my three's and two's. With the 1's or lows I left off of some and not others depending on where they fell on the graph....
  16. I know what you mean. I was informed by friends when I was in high school that I would always buy candy when I was upset.
  17. Can't overlook those blessings in disquise. I have to agree with you there. How about tossing those foods you still have that don't like you very well? Notice I said they don't like you...not that you don't like them. Give it time Celia. It took a long time to get sick...it will take some time to heal.
  18. Rachel, do you feel better yet?
  19. I'm so sorry Shannon. That must have been very difficult for you. I'm glad you have found out about the importance of going gluten free. Continue to find your trigger foods, you know what is going on with your body and it's reactions than your doctor.
  20. Thank you everyone for all the recipe ideas. I must have lost this thread because I didn't realize there were so many more responses. Too bad I didn't know about the sweet potatoes before our last child ...my daughter really wanted twins, one of each. When she found out we were only having one child she wanted a sister. Poor girl, she was really disappointed...
  21. Turtle, The are an independent lab that tests stool for gluten antibodies as well as ttg, malabsorption, gene test and they also do dairy, soy, egg and yeast. www.enterolab.com if you want to check them out. We did the tests on our own. Most people do I believe. They are more sensitive than blood work because the antibodies start in the intestines...
  22. That post sounded real helpful in my eyes Julie. Good detective work.
  23. I don't recall her saying she stayed home today so she's probably at work. Can't be fun working when you feel like that though. There were times in my working days I went in not feeling well, worked part of a day and everyone told me to go home. Maybe she's home and sleeping.
  24. We keep her laughing with all our antics, heck we keep each other laughing. Who said yesterday that laughter is good medicine? You gotta love this thread.
