  1. Excitotoxins is a good book. I never got more than halfway through it, but the first half was very informative. I really like Dr. Blaylocks work. We just got another book of his "health and nutritional secrets...". Another good one. I caught up!! My 6 month old will be happy if I get off the computer now.
  2. Ok, granted I'm only on page 15...and this may have been covered. With alot of vitamins just below the skin how do you deal with the vitamin loss if you have to peel everything?
  3. Rachel, I don't know anything specific about l-cysteine. From Dr. Blaylock's book "excitotoxins" it is listed as one of the baddies that can promote neurodegenerative diseases (along with aspartame and msg). The following is listed in the book which was published in the mid-late 90's I think. I don't have it in front of me right now. Hidden...
  4. Rachel, Sorry. I forgot that I had posted on this board and didn't click to notify. The ener-g I have looks like the picture but I think it's different. The ingredients on the baking powder are calcium carbonate and citric acid. Didn't you say citric acid was out or was that a different post? I believe the baking soda they sell is just calcium carbonate...
  5. Kristy, I'm sorry I can't help you. I'm new to all of this. My whole family is going gluten free as my son seems to react to the slightest thing with soy or gluten/wheat.
  6. Angi, I wasn't on dairy before my pregnancy and have found out I am allergic to it so I can't help you there. Sorry
  7. I've never had PMS that I can recall, with the exception of a low back ache a day or two before my cycle. Haven't had a cycle yet since having my last child so not sure whether my diet changes will have any effect.
  8. Definately prenatals which you say you have started. I'm still taking Freeda prenatals, they just happen to be gluten free. The are tablet form. Walking is always good. With my first preg (unplanned), I was still working. I went out for walks on my breaks. I was in the best shape with that one. Only gained 18 pounds and my doctor told me it was going...
  9. Yikes! Lunch with your daughter sounds like fun. After lunch effects sound not so good. I would think your stomach would be in major rebellion. Double check anything that comes out of your fridge or cupboard before ingesting! I'm wary of things that are even 1 month over expiration. Some things even sooner than that.
  10. I haven't reached that point yet...I'm 39. My mother had a horrible time so I hope that things do get better on a gluten free diet. I believe my mother still has hot flashes. She's been going through menopause for about 15 years now. I believe that is the only symptom she has left. I had thought I was starting menopause last year, early, after some off...
  11. Mango04, We've left the vegan diet due to my allergies. I'm not too concerned about some people getting offended with us having meat. Can't do kidney beans, I'm allergic. I've never had any symptoms that I can remember so all of this is interesting. My husband doesn't do well with beans in general so we will probably be eliminating them with the exception...
  12. We are heading to a family camp meeting next week. The people are primarily vegan as far as I know and we just left that diet. They have a kitchen you can plug in stuff and probably cook stuff (not sure, never been) but I have to worry about cross contamination. I'm trying to figure out what I can pack for the whole family (4) for five days that we can...
  13. Canning, that is something I want to do eventually. I never haved like canned veggies though. I bough all the stuff a couple years ago but my husband changed jobs shortly thereafter and we haven't had all the extra money to stock up in the summer time for canning. Now with a baby I'll probably have to wait until next year. Maybe I can do a little this...
  14. Michael, Are you going to have them go wheat free or gluten free at all or just monitor them from time to time? Just curious. We just sent out our tests to enterolab. No symtpoms of celiac, just my allergy test.
  15. Wheat and dairy are common allergens. Don't reintroduce both at the same time. I don't know that a total fast is necessary. A fruit/fruit juice fast will clean your system out. I've heard of people doing that for three days. That much of a fast is not necessary. From what I've read about others posts with eliminations diets is to go down to foods you...
  16. Kate, Are you the only one in your family gluten free? That must be hard. My husband has opted for the whole family to go gluten free. We just sent out our kits to enterolab so we won't know for three weeks what those results are. Are you aware of the hidden msg? I have a list I posted somewhere yesterday (I forget where) but I can repost it here...
  17. Just a note. When I had my blood drawn for my allergy test, I tested allergic to dairy which I hadn't eaten for 3 years with the exception of a handful of times. If it is an IgG reaction it will stay in the blood for awhile. The doctor who did my allergy test said it can go back 10 years.
  18. I went off gluten 1 1/2 months ago after I found out I was allergic. I was trying to cure my son's eczema. I called my doctor 1 1/2 weeks ago and she agreed to run the celiac test on me but I didn't do it because I didn't want to go back on gluten. If I were to make another appointment to have it done would it more than likely end up inconclusive. I don...
  19. I am a stay at home mom so eating at different times wouldn't be a problem. My youngest has been the only one that really reacted to anything. He was my first vegan pregnancy plus I had 4 crowns put on before I found out I was pregnant and had a root canal done my third trimester. I still think all the mercury that has to be going through my body could...
  20. I don't know whether I'm celiac (don't think so as I've not really had any symptoms), or just intolerant/allergic. I've switched to two meals a day to make things easier. I usually eat around 11 and 5:30. Most days I'm fine with this schedule. Sometimes I'll have some fruit for a snack. My husband feels I need to go back to three meals a day since I...
  21. I'm not a teenager. Just noticed what section this was. My family likes the Erewhon Crispy Brown Rice with Mixed Berries. Also Envirokidz cereals. I believe Panda Puffs is gluten free (it does have soy oil I think). They also have Amazon Flakes. There is also Buckwheat Maple Flakes from Arrowhead? I think. A lot of the flake cereal taste better with...
  22. I would also vote for Enterolab. I would recommend to Total Gluten Panel (I forget what it's called $369) and if you can swing it the soy/yeast/egg panel ($199). The $369 also included a free milk panel for a short time. We just sent tests out even though we don't have any known symptoms. I had the family tested since I am allergic and my infant son is...
  23. For the main three allergies I have soy/wheat/dairy. I would say dairy is the hardest to stay away from if you can't/won't do soy. I have learned that soy is bad for you and can cause intestinal damage as well. I was a vegan for three years (until I found out about my allergies). I really miss butter! I make a coconut oil based butter which is pretty...
  24. I also showed allergic to string beans (gr beans), kidney beans, navy beans and soy beans. The test I had doesn't show all the beans. I'm ok with peanuts which go with the soy bean family. The test I had was the IgG and IgE panel. Only about 100 foods though. Spelt came up quite high and I'd only had that once or twice, didn't like it. Also asparagus...
