ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
AndreaB replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Julie, The other exemption I was talking about is personal belief or philisophical exemption. Some states accept those, others do not. Pneumococcal has soy protein in it so that would be another medical exemption one. I have a book called The Vaccine Guide by Randall Neustaedter OMD which is good. There is also a chapter in Health and Nutrition Secrets... -
ARCHIVED Envirokidz Cereal
AndreaB replied to Lister's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I didn't do well with the koala crisps either but I don't think it is a cross contamination issue. I chalked it up to the cocoa. I don't have obvious symptoms if I'm glutened. Although now it seems as if my stomach doesn't like most cereals. -
ARCHIVED Is A Wheat Allergy The Same As Gluten Intolerant?
AndreaB replied to thezoo17's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
That's something I haven't thought of. I am both allergic and intolerant to gluten but was not allergic to all gluten grains. I am mildly allergic to dairy, with the exception of cheddar cheese, but not intolerant to it. I just started eating some dairy again. I'll have to make sure I don't go overboard. My infant son broke out in eczema which cleared... -
ARCHIVED Lots And Lots Of Gluten Intolerant Genes?
AndreaB replied to chrissy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If I remember correctly they estimate over 80% (or somebody does) of people with gluten intolerant genes. -
My husband goes in for a colonoscopy on Monday so I'll know more than. He's 45.

ARCHIVED Help, Am I Looking At An Intolerance? Confused
AndreaB replied to Rachel13's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It sounds like you could very well have an intolerance to gluten. The first day you had cream did you have any bread or anything with that. Dairy could be another thing. Atkins diet is good for the short term but you do need some carbs, just not the white flour etc. Brown rice is good. You may want to add in some dairy and no more gluten for a week or... -
ARCHIVED Enterolab Results For My 3 Y/o
AndreaB replied to wonkabar's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It's nice to have some more solid answers isn't it. I had my family tested by enterolab also and was pleased with them. -

Julie, Currently state have religious or someother kind of exemption. (Exemption is not the right word) I'll have to look it up. The vaccine makers are behing the law makers trying to take away our right. That very well may happen someday because of a lot of greedy people but that isn't the case right now. I don't know if you believe in God or not... -
ARCHIVED For Those With Gluten Tolerant & Intolerant Family Members
AndreaB replied to a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Floridian, How do you do with soy. They may have soy lecithin in them. I know chocolate chips and carob chips do. -
ARCHIVED Newbie With Story & Some Questions
AndreaB replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Just in case you didn't find it it is www.enterolab.com. The cost for the tests we got (2) was $568 I think. They had dairy on a special with the gluten one for $369 and the soy/egg/yeast was $199. -

I didn't recall varicella having mercury in it. They are now trying to make sure every pregnant woman gets the flu shot. Just one more way to mess up the developing fetus as far as I am concerned. I just with I had learned about vaccines years ago. Oh well. I'm pretty much against them but realize that it's each persons individual choice. I got my son... -
ARCHIVED Newbie With Story & Some Questions
AndreaB replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If you've cut out all gluten and start to feel bad again then double check to make sure you haven't been glutened. The next two primary causes of problems are soy and dairy. Sounds like you are gluten intolerant at least. I had a blood test done for allergies which pinpointed problem areas. The elimination diet can also do that but is more time consuming... -
Some of these recipes look really good! Here is another one for scalloped potatoes, dairy and soy free. 4 cups thinly sliced raw potatoes, with skins (I used food processor for this) 2 cups water 1/2 cup clean, raw cashews, 1/4 cup chopped onions, or 1 teaspoon onion powder 1 teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon paprika Place potatoes in a sprayed baking...

It's good to hear that you two are working on this. Communication is one of the foundations of a good marriage. If you can work through this it will help set the tone for other sensitive things that may come up. The important thing to remember is to consider one anothers feelings. In most things it's not my way vs. your way, but a mutual understanding...

Rachel, Glad to hear that you are feeling a little better. That's a bummer about the crackers. -
ARCHIVED New Dora The Explorer Cereal
AndreaB replied to e&j0304's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My kids like envirokidz but we can't eat panda puffs anymore because of the soybean oil, cheetah chomps has oats. I don't think they tried koala crisps and they like the amazon flakes ok. They love the panda treats though. -
ARCHIVED Got Enterolab Results, Need Help
AndreaB replied to Mia H's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Mia, As far as I understand you just have gluten intolerance but it is still lifelong. I believe it is the same for casein but maybe others know more. -
I assume they will be looking at the genes that predispose to celiac or gluten sensitivity. You could still be gluten intolerant and have that gene and both celiac or gluten sensitivity can cause damage to the intestines. If you have the genes and have children then they would get one from you if you have two of them. Don't know what the test entails...

OOOHHHH, I want to come down too. I absolutely love dolphins, they are extremely intelligent. I'd have a lot of fun on the water playing with them. Not if only I could get a money tree to grow I might be able to swing it. We've spent so much with the enterolab tests and my allergy tests before that. Let's see, hurricane season is from June-November... -
ARCHIVED The Best Mousse Recipe Ever!
AndreaB replied to penguin's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Julie, I have a recipe for cashew cream that may work with this. You may have to adjust the water because IF I remember correctly this is thicker than whipped heavy cream. 1 cupwater 3/4 cup clean, raw cashews, 8 pitted dates 1/2 teaspoon vanilla pinch salt Process first 3 ingredients in a blender until very smooth. Bring to a boil... -
ARCHIVED What Is Considered A High Iga Number
AndreaB replied to minibabe's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I just had testing done through enterolab. With them anything over 10 is an intolerance. They don't test for celiac specifically just intestinal IgA levels. -

I don't like it too hot or too cold but I love the sun and the snow. Can't have it all ways can I? SW Washington is generally mild. Rachel, you could always move to Arizona. My dad lives in Tucson and it's almost always hot there. Of course California is hot too most of the time isn't it? -
ARCHIVED Megan's Gagging Isn't Any Better
AndreaB replied to TCA's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
TCA, I didn't realize you adopted such a strict diet. Has that just been recently? I knew you had cut out gluten, dairy, egg and I forget whether you had mentioned anything else. Were you the one posting about avocado? Are you still giving her avocado and if so can't you eat that? I second eKatherine with the coconut oil if you can. Spectrum is really... -
I'm O, if there isn't a plain O then I would be O+. My hubby is AB- I believe. I don't know what the kids are.
