ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
AndreaB replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Have you ever read Sugar Blues. I forget the author but it is a very good book. We've been overindulging lately as well. I've been buying stuff until I get everything together to bake my own goodies. Sugar in the highly processed form is likened to heroin which is highly refined and very addictive. The body can only handle so many fruits (natural sugar... -

Rachel, Here are some milk recipes for you to try if you decide to try them. I realize you probably won't be able to use them....but just in case. Morning Millet Milk 1 c hot, cooked millet 1 c raw cashews or almonds 6 c water 1 tsp salt 1-2 tsp vanilla 1Tb honey Simmer 1/4 c millet in 1 cup water for about 45 minutes, or until... -

Julie, Thanks! I'll leave it out or use something else. I have arrowroot as well as clear jel and instant clear jel. Instant is used for cold foods to thicken. They are derived from corn and if I remember correctly you can't have corn so they wouldn't work for you. Rachel, That's great that your food list is growing. Miamia, ... -

Did you have the soy panel done by enterolab? Soy can cause just as much trouble as gluten with the intestines. Was your fecal fat score over 300? If you eat soy try cutting it out for 2-4 weeks and see how you feel. If no different add it back in. Dairy could be another culprit, did you have the casein panel by enterolab too? -

ARCHIVED Mayo Alternatives?
AndreaB replied to BRUMI1968's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I think I've only tried almond mayonnaise but I don't remember. Cashews blend up smoother but I haven't tried them in mayonnaise. For the instant mayo I'm sure you could substitute another milk powder. Instant Mayonnaise 1 c water (purified or distilled 1/2 c soy milk powder 1/2 tsp salt 2 to 3 Tbsp fresh lemon juice *2 Tbsp instant clear jel... -

Boy, I'm gone for a little over a day and I'm three pages behind. Glad it wasn't during the week or I would have been 20 pages behind! Floridian Yeah on the complete meal. Rinne, You caught up! Can you still see straight? Rachel, Thanks for the msg and gelatin info. -

Lauren, If I were in your shoes I wouldn't do a gluten challenge. It's not worth the sickness and pain it can and probably would cause for you. As far as soy, please don't eat too much of it. It may be interfering with your intestines healing. Do you or can you eat eggs and dairy products. You can have up to 7 eggs a week. I somtimes have more... -

I don't even know how to do the ratios. I haven't been excercising either, so that doesn't help. I spend too much time on this forum. I would probably need to do the whole test which I won't pay for. I've got to get off of here and head to the store to replace my colander (which I hadn't done yet) and get some small loaf pans. Maybe I can get... -

Kate, I hope you find what's bothering you soon. I was looking at your sig. Are you aware of the hidden msg in foods. JulieM had posted a link www.truthinlabeling.org/hiddensources.html and Rachel--24 has discovered that msg is sprayed on a lot of crops. Don't know if it is organic and conventional or not. It's called auxi-gro. One of the big... -

Donna, I had scored 51 which is mixed. It was interesting for me because I hadn't been eating meat and for those questions I wasn't sure about I picked 5 for the medium. I would probably be in the higher 50's otherwise. I used to eat much more carbohydrates since my protein was coming from gluten and soy primarily. I still need to eat more fruits... -

Julie, Thanks for the website. I've got it bookmarked. Do you know if that includes the plain knox gelatin packets or just if gelatin is added as an ingredient. I know with ones that occasionally have msg that if you have more than one on the occasionaly list that there is more of a likelihood of it containing msg. -

Rinne, Check out www.mercola.com. He has info about the metabolic diet and has a simple 9 question survey to give you a basic idea. He stresses that it is just an idea and the regular test has about 200 questions. Each person needs to fine tune there own diet. I don't agree with all his stuff although he does have a lot of articles. -

I think it is like a tear that doesn't heal and keeps on building up. Should be treatable without surgery, but we'll know in about 4 weeks. I just got Gluten-Free Baking Classics as well as Gluten Free Family Cookbook and 125 Best Gluten Free Recipes by Donna Washburn and Heather Butt. Still need to look through them all. We are self-cleaning... -

I don't sell a lot, just always misguessed how much stuff weighed. We just mainly sell things we don't want anymore like outgrown clothes that are still in good shape. Don't make any money to speak of. I was really interested in trying to make some money but oh well. -

Please keep us posted on that as well. I wouldn't want to do a gluten challenge and I didn't even have any symptoms. You have to wait until August!? -

My hubby had his consult today with another doctor. He has a fissure which he is going to try and clear up himself. He need to make sure he gets 30 g of fiber a day and has to do sitz baths twice a day. Oh what fun. He gets up early enough. Got my cookbooks today! Now I just need lots of time to peruse them. Went shopping and spent two fortunes... -

Patti, May I ask how much you pay for each carton and how much shipping it is. It is $9.25 (for 19.5 oz) at a store near us and if they charge a lot of shipping I could pick some up for you and ship it at exact cost. I don't know if they have both flavors or just plain. I have a scale and since I ebay I can also use paypal to print out the shipping... -

I didn't do well drinking Vance's plain. I got a headache...but that could have been other reasons as well, like not drinking enough water. We still have the open package of Vance's but I went and bought organic dairy non fat milk powder. -

I didn't realize that you could be negative on blood work and still have a biopsy. Sorry I missed that one. I tried to include things that I've read on this forum. -
Yes, please contact La Leche League. Don't give up on breastfeeding unless there is absolutely no way to continue. Make sure you keep your fluid intake up. I have always had good nursers so I don't know what other advice to offer. The gluten free diet shouldn't effect your milk supply unless you are severly limited due to multiple allergies. I do know...

That's interesting Carla about not eating that much wheat. You can't choose more than one option on the poll? I thought you could do multiple choices but have never tried it myself. Being vegan I made my own whole wheat bread with flour I ground. I also made gluten as well as buying Companion brand gluten with also had soybean oil and extract...
