ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
AndreaB replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
We just finished dinner. My hubby is happy to be able to eat again. He has one polyp. It was not removed since the tissue has grown up with it. He has a consult with another doctor on Thursday and will then be scheduled for surgery to remove it. They say it doesn't look cancerous which is good. He didn't have anything but water yesterday (his choice... -

Julie, That is Seth when he was about 4 months old. The camera battery had been replaced and I forgot to reset the date on the camera. He's almost 7 months old now. Seth is a really happy baby overall. He plays a game with Daddy now where he tilts his head to the side. Must get it from me. We get family pictures taken every Oct-Nov so I'll post... -

Rachel, I don't know what to think about the cucumber. I wouldn't think auxigro would be a problem with hot house products but I don't know. I think they use some kind of pesticides but again I'm not sure. I have lost 2-3 pounds between days before but only after a big meal with lots of carbs or protein, but not with something so light. Sounds like... -
ARCHIVED Disappointed With Wild Oats Market
AndreaB replied to marciab's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Marcia, I'm so sorry you had such a bad experience at Wild Oats. I don't know where you live but the Wild Oats in Vancouver WA is very clean. The meat, deli, salad, produce etc are all well maintained and fresh. I could handle it if they had a bigger gluten-free section but I now mainly go there for the meat but also get dairy or rice products there... -

TCA, I don't blame you. It took me a day to catch up a this thread and now I make sure I never leave it. Rachel will have to clarify this but I believe she has tracked most of the problem down to hidden MSG. It's hidden under many different names. Most of the corn stuff she was having problems with also had hidden MSG. I keep up with... -

Miamia, I couldn't agree with you more. I'm waiting for cookbooks and browsing the recipe section here as I can. My husband loves to tweak also. When he tries something he may suggest ways to tweak. I usually make the recipe as is and then make changes after we've tried it. I almost always end up cutting back on sugar. So many recipes have an overabundance... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Pasta Sauces
AndreaB replied to Lister's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I just make my own using canned crushed tomatoes and diced tomatoes. Sometimes I'll add tomato paste. For 2 lb of pasta I would use: 1 28 oz canned crushed tomatoes 2-3 15 oz canned diced tomatoes (regular, italian, garlic&onion, basil&onion) These are Muir Glen flavors. 1 can tomato paste (only if you like it thicker) 3 Tb basil 1 Tb... -

If you need recipes for anything let me know and I'll look through what I have. I'm no longer vegan but do buy the expensive free range, natural or organic meats. The processed foods we buy right now are the treats from enjoy life or envirokidz. I ordered three gluten free cookbooks that I should be getting at the end of the week. Do you have any tried... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Else With Soy Allergy....
AndreaB replied to shai76's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I don't know if it is because of the soy beans but I am allergic (per test) to kidney and navy beans as well. My hubby is allergic to pinto beans by reaction. He hasn't had any allergy tests done. A doctor we talked to said pinto beans are pretty allergenic. We still plan on trying garbanzo, black and red beans again and see if we need to leave... -

Rachel, The cards today are multi faceted. They are debit/credit cards that connect directly to your checking account. You can do withdrawals at the ATM for cash if you'd like but they are mostly used for POS (Point of Sale). Most stores accept debit cards and there is no charge to us the card, except for fast food joints. If I need some cash I'll... -

That's great Patti! Sounds like you have healed quite a bit. Did you say it was syrup that got you down. Have you tried SpringTree Certified Organic? We don't have obvious gluten symptoms. Of course now that we've gone off it we may start to. Everyone eat something for my hubby for Fathers Day. He goes on his liquid diet tomorrow in prep for... -

If your a scrapbooker prints are definately needed. We have a regular camera. Need to take more of the baby. Poor thing, we took tons of Talitha, less for Micah and barely any for Seth. So it goes with adding children. I agree with Patti, cards are much easier though. Your bank would be glad to get one ordered for you. It's a personal choice though... -

When you get your film developed have them put the prints on celiac disease also. Then you can load them to your computer, edit them and upload them. You know I put celiac disease in and it changed it to Celiac Disease. At least I think I did. It did it again. How about C.D.? Will that stay as it's typed. -
That's what I was going to suggest. Fruit tends to be easier on the tummy and smoothies are great. Also avocados with something. I don't know what your diet restrictions are. Cottage cheese if you can eat that. Canned salmon maybe. Those aren't as light but maybe you could tolerate them. If you feel like vegetable salad that would be good too with...

I don't think there is an easier way. I just tried playing with works and saving a document with just one picture on it and I couldn't load it to my photo program or paint because it wasn't the right format. Scanning is the best way. If you guys don't have digital cameras you can get your photos on celiac disease to upload to the computer. Those are... -

I'm not sure if this will be listed as an option but when you are in you word document. Hilite the picture and right click to see what options it gives you. You want to try to save the file as something else. I don't have word or I would play with it and see if it works. I have works. I'll see if I can figure out something from the documents I have that... -

Actually it's My Controls on the top of the page next to View New Posts. On the left side column, read down until you find edit avatar settings and click that. Then follow Floridian. Patti, I left you out of my earlier "hi". Sorry, didn't mean to. Give that ankle some rest and hope it feels better soon. -

Floridian, I have a lot of vegan cookbooks and am glad if I can help anyone out. Donna, I also like your avatar. I like pictures of people themselves, there children/babies and the animals. I'll change mine to one that was taken about 3 months ago so you all can see what I look like. Rachel, Hope you survived last night. Can you... -

Armetta, I have a butter recipe posted on the dairy substitute topic. I don't know how to insert those. I also have the following recipes for hummus. Hey! Hey! Hummus 2 c cooked garbonzo beans 1/4 c Lemon Juice 1/3 c sesame tahini (joyva brand is best) 2 tsp garlic powder OR 2 cloves fresh 1 tsp salt 1/2 c water Blend all ingredients... -

Julie and Armetta, {{{{{{{{{{{{{HUG}}}}}}}}}}}} Hope your day goes better tomorrow. This board has been pretty quiet today. I was having a kinda down night last night as well. What is it with us, is it the weather (that's the typical excuse up here). Time to cheer up, the sun is out (just came out after a torrential downpour here). Well,... -

Sweet Nut Milk 1 quart water 2/3 c clean, raw cashews or almonds 4 pitted dates 1/4 tsp salt 1/4 tsp vanilla Process all ingredients in a blender with about 1 cup of the water until very smooth. Pour into a pitcher and stir in remaining water. Strain, if desired. Cover and refrigerate. Shake well before using. This milk is excellent... -
They have you on a liquid diet the day before with nothing after midnight. You have to take some pills in the morning and evening and drink some stuff mixed. You have to drink 8-10 glasses of water with the stuff every 15 minutes until done. This is all before the procedure. I just looked at the sheet and I still need to go get enema's for my hubby. ...

ARCHIVED Cereals And Labeling, Kind Of Confused
AndreaB replied to kenyonsmommy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I believe they need to list wheat as an allergen if it has it, but malt comes from barley. I don't believe they have to list whether it is gluten free or not. I think they have to list wheat if it is "hidden" in an ingredient but am not 100% sure. Someone else will probably jump on this and clarify. -
ARCHIVED Chocolate Mousse Cake

This sounds fabulous. As a former chocoholic turned caroboholic. If I can find chocolate without soy lecithin in it I will try it.
