    Well, another Canadian and newly diagnosed celiac here. I live in Moose Jaw, Sask. I thought living in sucha small town would be he$$ for a celiac, but it's not. I am also glad to see I am not the only one in Saskatchewan.

    Andrea, You can get Tapioca flour at almost any health food store. If all else fails, try talking to themanager of the store where you normally get your supplies and see if htey can order it in for you.     I can only speak for me, but my blood work had 4 antibodies on it. One of the results was triple the normal range, and one other was almost double. The other 2 were what the doctor said were considered "equivical", meaning that based on the symptoms I had given him and his own observations (everything BUT a biopsy) could be taken to be celiac.     I almost hate the new Subway ads more than pizza hut. I never did like PH pizza, but am a big fan of sub sandwiches. Especially the toasted kind (several chains come to mind here). DW makes me some gluten-free bread at home to have my toasted sandwiches on, but deep down I know they're not quite the same.

    terps, My wife found one in a yellow and brown can. It is simply callled MAGIC BAKING POWDER. As far as we can tell, it is gluten-free. The safeway generic brand had "startch" on the label and has since been replaced. Hope that helps.

    My mother in law just bought us a bread machine since I was diagnosed only 3 weeks ago. It is Cuisanart, and is has a gluten free setting right on the panel. It is the only bread machine they make, so it should be easy to find on their website or in stores. The recipe book it comes with has several VERY good recipes in it. We could only find it at one...

My Father is a CGA, and he told me, as far as the increased use of cornstartch etc, that ONLY the portion of the cornstartch that is used in the Celiacs meals would be a tax deduction.
