  1. Interesting. I hope that it is just a matter of time like yours. I have only been gluten free since May, and I have already glutened myself about twice a month since then. Thanks, Sarah
  2. Dessa, Did you do stretches for your neck or your arm? I'll try anything to get rid of this. Thanks! Sarah Thanks for the idea. I haven't tried acupuncture before but have often wondered about it.
  3. Hi, My kids each have one main celiac gene and one gluten sensitive gene. I'm not sure about the difference between celiac and intolerant genes affecting a person differently and I'm not aware of a casein intolerant gene. Sorry I'm not able to answer your questions. Someone else may be able to. I discovered that my kids were presently gluten and casein...
  4. The first time it happened I couldn't tell if it was related to gluten. But now after being glutened and having it happen again I believe it is related. My whole right arm, starting under my armpit and going down into my forearm aches. I don't have any numbness per say. If you have ever put your arm in one of those blood pressure machines in stores and...
  5. I tested 3 people in my family, and each one came back in 2 weeks. I'll bet you will hear from them very soon! Waiting is HARD.
  6. Sounds yummy! I'm cutting and pasting to Word right now. Thanks for posting.
  7. CarlaB and Nancy, I am reading your posts this morning and am almost in tears with relief from the guilt I have been feeling about starting them on casein free. I guess I have been too focused on obvious digestive symptoms becase that is what I had with casein. With gluten I mainly had the mental and brain symptoms. But casein may have been affecting...
  8. Ursula, I react this way to gluten. Within an hour of having it I become very depressed and tearful. But I can't think of any symptom my 4 year old dd has. Are you saying that there may be an effect on her that I just can't see? The only things I notice in my 7 year old ds, is he is very sensitive and can be emmotional sometimes, but is not depressed...
  9. I know this sounds simplistic, but I find that if I eat a banana and something with protein, like almonds, right before going to sleep, it helps. And if I wake up and then have insomnia, I just eat then and go back to sleep.
  10. My kids have been gluten-free/cf now for 3 days. I'm digging and searching like mad for nutritous snacks and lunches for them. I keep feeling guilty (irrational maybe) for testing them when they have no symptoms. I understand the gluten sensitive, but the casein sensitive is bothering me. I know gluten can be asymptomatic, but can Casein?? I just keep...
  11. Sorry to hear he isn't feeling well. Maybe since he is young he will recover faster than we do. I don't know if this applies to gluten, but hopefully. Sarah
  12. Hi, Do you mean you are required to have a doctor's note even to send in a container with substitutions? I don't have a doctor's note as of yet. I had my kids tested through enterolab. Thannks, Sarah
  13. Good Luck Nancy, let us know how it went. Sarah
  14. These sound like my symptoms. My body reacts a lot like yours and your father's. I'm glad you posted this. It is really helpful to hear similar experiences. Thanks, Sarah
  15. Big Big oooops! I stood there and read the ingredients in the store. I would not have even picked it up except for that it is made with rice milk, and I assumed it would be a possibility. But I must have read right past the wheat word. Well, I guess I have been glutened again. Just threw it in the trash. On the bright side, there weren't any cookies...
  16. The outside of the container shows all these brown cookie chunks in the ice cream. Inside my container there is only white ice cream. There are no brown anything. Is this how it is supposed to be? We were disappointed.
  17. Thank you, Thank you! These are very well written and expressed! This really helps me.
  18. Thank you, yes if you could post what you write in your letter or the basic ideas, that would be wonderful! Because honestly this is stressing me out. I was friends with my ds's teacher last year also, and I know she would have been very helpful. Hoping it goes well this year.
  19. Hi Nancy, I know exactly how you feel right now. My dh was a little surprised and both of us were concerned about how this would affect the kids. My ds, who is 7 woke up this morning upon his first gluten free day and began crying about how he didn't want this. I guess he hadn't been paying attention to all of the things I *can* eat because he started...
  20. Tomorrow night is "Meet the Teacher," night. Somehow it doesn't seem like the right time to talk about me sending substitutions in for treats. How have you handled this? I'm thinking that I will somehow need to know in advance when other kids birthday's are and when their parents are going to bring in cupcakes etc. I haven't had this situation in the...
  21. Yummm! I am going to make this today for my kids! We are going to the water park today, and I usually stop and get them ice cream on the way home, but instead I'll stop at the store and get the ingredients to make this. Thank you!!
  22. Thank you for the tips. Yes, I can see how this will be hard for my dh. He said what about when I want to eat icecream (a craving he only gets 3-4 times a year). I told him that I didn't mind watching him eat icecream, but that it would be hard for the children, and asked that he eat it out instead. He was understanding. I think it would be much more...
  23. Hi Lauren, Just before I knew for sure I had to remove gluten from my diet, I was diagnosed with hypoglycemia. And I felt the way you do, and still do sometimes. I worry that if I don't eat perfectly I'm going to end up with diabetes next. I have read that as your intestine heals, cholesterol levels sometimes rise because you are absorbing fats better...
  24. What an inspirational story!! This is wonderful to hear. Thanks for sharing.
  25. Another good idea. Yes, I started the gluten-free bread immediately for myself when I went gluten-free and I haven't forgotten the difference yet. I have an old bread machine that I used years ago (long before I went gluten free). Would thoroughly cleaning it be o.k.? Or would it be better to get a new one? Or do they turn out better in the oven? Thanks...
