  1. I wonder why. My impression was that casein is immune system related as an after effect of gluten. Maybe we will see more on this in the future. Thanks. I have been thinking of doing this too. I know casein makes me feel bad also. You're right, it isn't worth the convenience of buying it at the theater.
  2. Yes, I have been dealing with my hypoglycemia better since being gluten free too. I am eating more healty now than I have my entire life. I can TOTALLY relate to your experience at the BBQ. I have had to do similar things, and depending on my hypo state, I can get really irritable waiting for food. I have come home with a headache and a feeling that...
  3. Thanks for your response. This sounds like the direction I am heading. Since going gluten free I am able to eat more carbs but still can't eat them alone for too long. What is your main hypo symptom when you do get it? Mine is dizziness. Yes, I agree. I rarely eat fast food any more. It is one of the blessings of having to be gluten free. ...
  4. The reason I'm asking is, I know that I cannot cheat when it comes to gluten. But I'm wondering if I eat popcorn at the movie theatre (say for instance) once in awhile is that going to cause damage or just make me feel temporarily bad if it does affect me? Thanks Sarah
  5. I have hypoglycemia which I'm sure was caused by years of having celiac and not knowing it. I have only been gluten free since May, but I can see improvement in my hypoglycemia. I'm hoping it will resolve now that I am gluten-free. Anyone have experience with this?
  6. Truffles, I am a little late coming across this thread. I have hypoglycemia also. I was diagnosed in April and then recently found out that I have celiac disease. I really believe that celiac disease caused my hypoglycemia. I think I had celiac disease long before and had I known it I may have been able to prevent the hypoglycemia. Right now I am hoping...
  7. CarlaB, Nini, and Nantzie, Thank you so much for your responses. I'm not goint to bring it up with our pediatrician. Nantzie, you bring up a good point about the military. We are military and I had never thought about that. Thanks. Sarah
  8. This is a topic I am very interested in. My father's mother and her 2 siblings all had alzheimers. I often wonder if it isn't celiac related. None of them knew anything about celiac disease. There is a connection between diabetes and celiac disease and it won't surprise me if alzheimers is related somehow also. It will be interesting to see what others...
  9. In light of recent threads about neglect and insurance etc. etc., I don't know what I should do. I am waiting for results on both of my children who are pretty much symptom free. I was planning on putting them on a gluten free diet if necessary after EnteroLab responds. I wasn't going to mention it to their pediatrician because 1) they don't have symptoms...
  10. This group has been so supportive with information and emmotionally for me. If it wasn't for all of you I would feel so alone and frustrated. It is comforting to know that there are people here who care and will help me. And I hope that I can help others in return. Sarah
  11. Tavi and ravenwoodglass, Thank you for your replies. I made an appt. with the dentist for today.
  12. I haven't been to the dentist since I found out I have celiac disease. Right now I am in awful pain with one of my teeth. It is the kind of pain I had last time I had to have a root canal done. I'll probably have to have another one and I don't know if I need to be concerned about numbing medications and gluten. Anyone know?
  13. I can't help much with the symptoms questions, but as far as age goes, I think it began when I was 31 but I didn't figure it out until this year and I am almost 37. There isn't any hard and fast rule about the age of onset, just generalities. Sarah
  14. This is a relief to hear. I was kind of hoping that it was gluten related. I'll probably bring it up with my OB/GYN just to make sure next time I see him. I have always had terrible PMS, so that hasn't changed a whole lot yet.
  15. I need to call my doctor's office and find out the specific names of them. All I remember him saying was that there were 4 things measured for celiac and that I was positive for the 2 that are less specific (whichever those are?) Sarah
  16. I'm glad you figured out what it could be. I know what you mean about the caveman diet. I can't have dairy either nor very much sugar. I figure at this rate I should live a long healthy life. Sarah
  17. Welcome Amy! I love this community. I am newly gluten free and addicted to this board.
  18. My cycles have always been very regular, every 27 days. Last month it was 3 days early and only lasted 2 days (instead of the usual 5). This month it is a day late so far. I'm not pregnant, so am wondering if I was regular while consuming gluten, would it make sense for me to start having an irregular cycle since going gluten free? Or, maybe perimenopause...
  19. Thank you, I know it sounds like a stupid question, but I wasn't sure if a positive meant one thing with a certain type of blood work or if it meant any bloodwork for celiac. Sarah
  20. This is so wonderful to hear!! Happy for your daughter! Sarah
  21. This has happened to me. And I was afraid to go back to sleep also. I was afraid I would stop breathing and never wake up. The only thing I have found connected to this is eating something with MSG in it or gluten. Since eliminating these it hasn't happened for awhile. Sarah
  22. I see the phrase positive blood work used a lot and I'm not real informed about the blood work. I know there are new test out now since I had mine done. 6 years ago my GI did a blood test on me for what he said were the 4 antigens for celiac disease. 2 of the "less specific," ones came back as positive. He said that even though they were the less specific...
  23. Around 2 months I felt a lift in my symptoms and more energy returning. Still have symptoms but seem to be getting better.
  24. Hi, I think positive blood work is enough to go with enterolab and skip the biopsy. I had positive results with EnteroLab, and 2 negative biopsies over 4 years. I am now in the process of having my children tested through EnteroLab because I feel that not only is the biopsy inconclusive but it is entirely to invasive especially for young children....
  25. ummmmm, hmmmm, for me leaving my kids and husband back home to go see my Mom and have her cook for me could make me just about forget any illness Seriously, your problems probably were still with you but because of the lack of stress you handled them better. That is my guess. I know that happens to me. When I went on vacation I could almost forget that...
