  1. Dylan, I have so been where you are. We've all heard that saying "you are what you eat" and it's very very true. If your filling your body with a subtle poison, it's gonna make you feel like crap. You're waiting for your amalgam appointment anyway, why not consider this a de-tox diet to prepare yourself? Just eat meat and vegetables - stuff that...
  2. Did I tell you guys the story of the naked guy on my deck?
  3. Do you want the genetic test only? Or the blood test too? What will you do if the results are negative? Would you try the gluten-free diet anyway? If the answer is yes, then don't bother getting tested. If you are only willing to eat gluten-free if your test is positive, then ask for it. Your doctor could refuse to order it, and your insurance could...
  4. I get so nervous about things that my travel WOULD be my prep! Golden Globes? The sun and the moon? They have their own show? Guys, I hate to break it to you, but you can see those just by walking outside...
  5. This IS a celiac site, and most people here feel that diet has a huge effect on their lives. You might find advice more suited to your situation if you could find a mercury forum.
  6. I agree with this. It also gives you ammo for the doc in case it doesn't help: "I completely changed my diet to all this healthy food and it hasn't changed these symptoms. Would do you think I should do?"
  7. The new Cambell soups have some gluten-free options (healthy harvest?)
  8. The website does not. Individuals might, and I have called others on this. This is appropriately worded. This is not. I'm not arguing your statement, I'm saying that if you make a blunt "This is this way" statement, it's appropriate to back it up with a reference.
  9. Here are some other threads that might have useful information: https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.php?showtopic=46494 https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.ph...c=7293&st=0 https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.php?showtopic=49421
  10. I had no IDEA what a dangerous game this was! Is it blunderbusesses at 20 paces?
  11. Worth repeating
  12. um, Patti, can I take this off yet? It's been almost a week..
  13. Methinks Emily likes saying the word Burundian So that cemetery... I wandered through the whole thing (pretty small) and saw one spot where the grave had just been dug, and not yet filled. A few days later it had been filled, but no headstone. Then a few days later I walked by after a windstorm and the new resident's flowers had all been knocked...
  14. A little harder to reproduce, since I didn't do it right the first time 2 yams 2 sweet potatoes 1/2 sweet onion (Walla walla or Vadalia, the flatter they are, the sweeter they are) 2 firm apples, like granny smith. Maybe pie apples is the right description Bacon (I used 4 or 5 slices, but it could've used more) Microwave the bacon and...
  15. In an attempt to expand my horizons, I went out and bought a bunch of things I normally never eat, threw 'em in a crockpot and cooked overnight. It smelled so great I had to try some this morning and it tastes as good as it smells. It was kind of a dump recipe, but something like this: 2 carrots, sliced 3 small turnips, chunked 1 parsnip, sliced...
  16. Your problem may not be the food, but what you're cooking it on. Have you ever grilled buns on that grill? Did you scrub it afterwards? That might be the problem. Check all your cookware. Get rid of stuff that can't be scrubbed clean (like wooden spoons), separate pots and pans that can't be cleaned well enough and have your husband use those, and...
  17. Swap sounds like fun. Add my name. Does it need to be printed on Salami or summat? As for the weigh-in, go with the 'salty soup' theory. You must have eaten some really salty soup, how else could you be retaining all that water? Gearing up for my walk (in the cold drizzle, remind me a gain why I enjoy this?), but I feel so much better today...
  18. Benjamin Button - great movie! Well made, keeps you interested the whole time. I had no expectations and didn't really know what it was about when I went to see it, maybe that made a difference. The make-up was amazing. No moon here last night. Just fog
  19. Ferritin levels take a long time to change. If you eat meat, they'll go up over time. You might want to consider taking iron for a few months as well.
  20. Open Original Shared Link Interesting article. Curiously, their memory did not improve, even if the HDL went up, but their memory DID improve when the triglycerides went down (Table 4) and those with high total cholesterol had a better memory than those with low. I'd be interested to see the ratios of HDL to triglycerides to see if that made a difference...
  21. They TOTALLY snowed me!! I was expecting cupcakes and coffee every morning, foot massages, someone to clean the catbox. Harumph!!
  22. This statement is inaccurate. Once bacteria colonize, they don't go away. Do you have any references for what you're claiming? Please avoid assuming a diagnosis, and then suggesting a treatment.
  23. I actually tried to look this up one time and couldn't find any reference for HDL being too low, when in conjunction with overall low total cholesterol. Do you have a reference for this?
