  1. Did the overnight turkey covered in bacon. I put slices of granny smith apples and orange peels in the cavity. Yum. During the "crisping hour" at 375 I cooked sweet potatoes and yams along side bird. Sliced this into a container, added the overcooked apples from the turkey's gut, and crumbled some of the bacon onto it. Stir Yum. Accidentally...

  4. The government has nothing to do with publishing, and doctors rarely publish. They practice medicine, not research.
  5. I'm pretty sure anal glands come in even numbers.
  6. If Pamela's ends up being your only option, make sure you use unsalted butter. I think the crust might be a little more "biscuit-like", which could be really good..
  7. Well, yeah. Who'd wanna smell like lavender?
  8. The funniest part of this story is that not a single person in the TME thread thought it was remotely unusual that Emily's husband goes through trash receptacles.

    ARCHIVED Quack Treatments?

That's the bottom line for everyone, isn't it? No matter what methods you choose, if they work for you, then they work for you.
  13. My sis in law is doing thanksgiving. I might bring my own gravy, since they all prefer the flour thickened type, but she swears she's doing gluten free cornbread stuffing. They're pretty good about reading labels and not poisoning me. Last year I got pumpkin custard in my own personal custard cup. But they're doing it Friday (less stress, have Thursday...

    ARCHIVED Quack Treatments?

But have any of your treatments made you well?
  15. Required Thanksgiving recipe: Happy Thanksgiving EVERYBODY!!! Who would have thought of popcorn as a stuffing -- imagine that. When I found this recipe, I thought it was perfect for people like me, who just are not sure how to tell when poultry is thoroughly cooked, but not dried out. Give this a try. 8 - 15 lb. turkey...

  21. I enjoy going to people's houses and being a PITA. Looking forward to having my sister-in-law throw potholders at me after I ask for the millionth time "Can I read the label?"
  22. Just as an OT post, my brother noticed that Lefty has compensated for his lack of depth perception by bobbing his head slightly up and down as he walks. Kinda like a long haired pigeon.
  23. It opted to work perfectly until 1 WEEK after the warranty expired. Since it is a robot, there are multitudes of robot/computer geek sites dedicated to the little critters. I'd prefer to skip the welding of diodes onto the mother board method of repair and just buy a whole new bumper. I will look into the seeing eye bot, though ...
  24. I eat Thai, Indian, and Vietnamese a lot and rarely ask about ingredients. I skip the things that look likely to have gluten and haven't had a problem. Recently discovered that one type of Indian bread is made from chick pea flour (but, alas, have already forgotten the name).
