Advice? Blood Results Neg For celiac disease...enterolab Positive

I was pretty sure that all of my lab work would be normal--and I was correct. Now I am not sure what to do and what to believe...I had an Enterolab stool test 4 years ago that was negative (9) and now is positive (109--or something close to that--I don't have the result in front of me). I also had them test for casein this time and the result was positive (14).

I did not have the genetic testing done, so I do not know whether I am truly someone who could turn positive down the road...or whether I should just not believe the Enterolab results. Obviously their methodology made sense to me, otherwise I wouldn't have plunked the money down...but now I am wondering WHAT the problem is!

I KNOW that I have issues with gluten in terms of addictive its addictive qualities--bread (and ice cream) are my drugs of choice. I also have some definite GI issues...and have reflex sympathetic dystrophy. In some ways, I was hoping for a positive diagnosis so my next step(s) would be very clear. Now I just feel like a hypochondriac--looking for SOMETHING that I can "blame" for my symptoms.

My doctor is doing some food allergy testing (Alletess) so I will see what results they come up with.

If anybody else has been in this situation--stellarly normal by blood work and abnormal by Enterlab--I'd be interested in hearing what you did (and how meticulous you were in eliminating gluten if that is what you decided to do) and how long a trial you gave things, etc. Thanks so much.

The sugar blood sugar spike is what keeps us coming back to simple carbs like bread and sugar. It is really a roller coaster ride of peaking and bottoming out....you need to break that cycle. Set a goal of going several days with out your crutch of simple carbs and sugar and you will quickly notice that the cravings go away....once you get it out of your blood stream.

I can't address the testing question, but do have carb issue experience!

      Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep searching for a cause?

      I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.
