Concerned About Align Probiotic

Brave Jane

Brave Jane Newbie

Hello   I was diagnosed with Celiac on Jan. 9. I have been reading through this website (and others) like crazy trying to put the pieces together. My biggest frustration is trying to find gluten free, dairy free, soy free, corn free vitamins and supplements (I am lactose intolerant and I am showing food sensitivities to soy  and corn).

My doctors suggested Align for a probiotic. It was looking like it would be a good one, but I just found this on their website:

When did you
remove the language "this product does not contain lactose, soy, or
gluten" from the Align label? Has Align changed?

The Align product has not changed. At this time, we do not test for lactose,
soy or gluten in Align and as of October 2012 are no longer stating "this
product does not contain lactose, soy, or gluten" on the label.

----------------------------------------------

So the fact that they aren't testing for gluten is concerning to me. This makes me think they don't see having a gluten free product as a priority because they aren't even testing for it anymore. Is it fair for me to be concerned? This is a pretty recent change to their product. I feel really clueless with the vitamins and supplements. I keep searching everywhere and can't find stuff that fits all my needs.

Thanks for any help!

Testing is costly, and adds to the price of the product for every single customer, not just the 1% who really care. Most manufacturers do not test for this reason. The removal may be for legal reasons to avoid a possible exposure to legal action in the event of accidental contamination of an ingredient by a third-party supplier. I would not worry.

Ok thank you so much! That is a relief :)

The Country Life gluten-free line of vitamins is "everything free" (not sure about corn, you'll have to give them a call)

and Custom probiotics is most definitely gluten-free, DF. SF and corn free (I I called and asked him) as is Culturelle. DF

and JarroDophilis AF (allergy free) probiotic. (again, not sure about the corn aspect)

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
