i posted this in the international forum ( for uk) but nobody,s answered,

so can someone please let me know if barley malt extract is ok or not - i thought it wasnt.

ive joined celiac uk( its not as good as this site) for the food directory that you get - thought it would give me a few more ideas of what to eat as it gives you a list of gluten free foods of all the major supermarkets.

so off i pop to tescos armed with my new book and it says that tescos honey nut cornflakes are fine so i buy some ( it saves me spending stupid amounts on organic gluten free cornflakes)

i have some with hazelnut milk and an hour later im on the toilet- no D or anything just an urgent need to go, so i try some the next day - the same thing. i look at the ingredients and it says BARLEY MALT EXTRACT!!!  my fault i know for not checking the ingredients- but it was in the book as ok!!!

so is it ok  or not , or am i just stressing over nothing! and if its not why would they say it was!!

thanks for any info x :)

No.  Barley malt is one of the things we can't have.  Maybe they think its refined enough to not have much gluten?  I haven't heard of that.

thanks

very interesting, think i,ll email celiac uk and see what they have to say,

so im assuming that they think the gluten contained in the barley malt is so low it shouldnt be a problem. im wondering if this book is gonna be of any use at all !!

Thank you that’s really helpful, hopeful won’t have to have a biopsy.

That means the normal range (i.e. not celiac disease) would be a result less than 14.99.  Your result is WAY above that. Some gastroenterologists would diagnose that as celiac disease even without a confirming biopsy because it is more than ten times the top of the normal range.

Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?

Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!

Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.
