Need Advice About Dh Testing.

Hi,

 

Sorry if this question has been posted before. 

 

I've just recently had breakouts of rashes on my leg and a burning/itching red spot on my back. My dermatologist said the rashes on my leg were eczema. 

 

I am thinking about getting a test done for DH on the leg. I've just started a gluten free diet this week (only a few days). Can that affect testing for DH?

YES! You need to be actively eating gluten for even the dh biopsy. And I don't mean eat a cracker before the biopsy. Too many have gone down that road & been sorry they didn't stay on gluten as they were supposed to. You can't outsmart or cheat by not eating gluten for a while & then eating a little at the last minute. Sorry. Sad but true. If you want a dx then you need to go back to a full gluten diet right now! And stay on it until testing is completed.

And the dh biopsy is NOT taken directly ON a lesion or spot. It is taken from clear skin adjacent to a lesion.

      That means the normal range (i.e. not celiac disease) would be a result less than 14.99.  Your result is WAY above that. Some gastroenterologists would diagnose that as celiac disease even without a confirming biopsy because it is more than ten times the top of the normal range.

      Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?

      Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!

      Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.
