So at a year old our daughter was marked failure to thrive for not gaining since 6 months old. They did some blood work her IIg came back positive at 16 a month later we did the biopsy which came back negative. Her GI said to try gluten free so her and I (nursing still) have been gluten free for alittle over 4 months. I have seen some inprovment as far as the number of BMs decrease and her fuzziness has diminished. But she still hasn't gained much weight. She eats all day high fatty foods and has only gained 2lbs since 6 months very VERY slowly at only 18lbs now she still hasn't doubled her birth weight. Over the last week or so she has had a new symptom of lime green BMS very loose def doesn't look normal her Dr said it could be a virus but shes acting fine....im so frustrated. Her pedi is convinced that she has celiacs and all of these poor growth and other symptoms is related but he GI doesn't think it is...thought?? Shes meeting all milestones and seems healthy just not growing!?

I meany her IgG came back positive...and I should add she is already 16 months and hasn't gained so it is a long stretch for a child her age to not be gaining weight!!!!

Are you sure she is 100% gluten free? Sometimes some slips in there. I would maby try to find a child safe probiotic, and get her some vitamins. Maby her Ped. can recommend a child safe probiotic.... or look it up on line.

What about her other measurements?  Head and body length.  Are they on target?  Have they changed?

I'm a little confused.  Is she 16 months old and weighs 18 pounds?

I think I probably mentioned this before, but my daughter weighed 6.5 pounds at birth.  At one year she was 17 and it took her until she was 24 months to hit 20 pounds.  Doctor was concerned but I pointed out that her head and body length were growing during that period.    She did not have celiac disease or any issues at all.  I'm just pointing out that kids all grow at a different rate and that people are being coming accustomed to seeing big babies and big people!  It took her until she was four to finally get of out of 5% weight bracket and hit 25%.  At 12 she's now near 50%.

This last bout with diarrhea may just be viral like the doctor said.

I hope this helps.

I dont like the word virus.... i heard that for 2 months as my little guy got sicker & sicker - our babies shouldnt be struggling if the fix is food. First, if the blood test was positive I wouldnt worry too much about the negative biopsy - it just means her intestines hadnt suffered damage yet - I'd consider her celiac. Are you sure you are comoletely gluten-free - have u eliminated all sources of cross contamination (like toasters, pans & spatulas). Have you considered other food intolerances/allergies? It is common for dairy to be a problem for those with celiac (and its not always permanent but hard for celiacs digest), soy, corn & oats are other common sensitivities. Its easy to try eliminating these individually for a few days & observe her reaction. good luck!

Thank you that’s really helpful, hopeful won’t have to have a biopsy.

That means the normal range (i.e. not celiac disease) would be a result less than 14.99.  Your result is WAY above that. Some gastroenterologists would diagnose that as celiac disease even without a confirming biopsy because it is more than ten times the top of the normal range.

Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?

Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!

Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.
