Football Goes Gluten Free

In preparation for going to the Ohio State Football game this Saturday, I was reviewing the stadium policies.   Previously I have brought my own food and cleared it through security.   I was completely surprised to read that the stadium is now providing a designated gluten free food cart.

THIS is a great thing for celiacs and hopefully a trend for all sporting events.

That is great news.  Where I live we have two athletic stadiums that have gluten free offerings.  The baseball stadium has Bard's beer, gluten-free hot dog buns and bbq nachos that are to die for.  They also have salads and huge fruit cups, as well as standard stadium fare like cotton candy, ice cream and popcorn.  I spoke to the catering manager there and he was so friendly and helpful.  I haven't been to the basketball arena yet, but a friend was telling me they had a gluten free stand inside.

On the down side, the arena that our local hockey team plays at has nothing gluten free except popcorn and cotton candy.  It is awful.  Everything there is fried and gluteny.  It's a heart attack waiting to happen.  I think the difference is that the baseball and basketball stadiums are located in an urban area and the hockey stadium is across the state lines in a more rural area.

I think as more and more people eat healthier (not just gluten-free), more places will have to accomodate them with things like gluten-free foods, salads, etc.  I'm glad that you'll have some place to eat while you enjoy the game.

I might have to go out and buy an Ohio State hat today just because of this...  That's really awesome...

Hold off on that cap!  I looked for the cart where they said it would be, no cart and no one in the area had seen it.  I was really disappointed AND hungry :)

Oh no, I hope you had some backup snacks with you so you didn't starve.  That's disappointing.

The Lindt (Lindor) dairy-free oat milk truffles are definitely gluten-free, and (last time I checked) so are the white chocolate truffles and the mint chocolate truffles.

I've used magnesium taurinate and magnesium taurate vitamins.  Didn't notice much of a difference when I used them.

More great tips, and a good excuse to shop at M&S and also buy more iced buns!   I wish we had an ASDA near us, as the few times we've been to one their gluten-free pasta range seemed very reasonably priced compared to other shops.  Thanks so much, @Russ H.
