Axelrod's Easy-Dieter Cottage Cheese?

Recommended Posts

Before my diagnosis, this was by far one of my favorite snacks -- I loved it even more than ice cream!  When I scanned it with my Shopwell app, it said that it was NOT gluten free due to "modified food starch" on the ingredient list, so I've been afraid to try it.

There was no info on Axelrod's website, and I've e-mailed them, but I bought some before scanning (stupid, I know), so I'd love to see if anyone knows for sure if it's starch from a different source and safe, so I don't have to throw it out.  I would LOVE to be able to eat this again.  It's just the right fat/curd level, and I'm fussy about cottage cheese.

Thanks!

Modified Food Starch was a possible concern long ago. Today it is not. It was almost never wheat to begin with, but since 2006, wheat must be clearly labeled on any food sold in the US.

In Canada, this is no longer permitted in an ingredient list--the source must be explicitly declared, e.g. "Modified Tapioca Starch."

Thanks, everyone - I received a reply from Axelrod's that their cottage cheeses are, indeed, gluten-free!  You have no idea how happy a (relatively) small thing like this makes me -- I'm going home and having a big old container of Easy-Dieter.
