Annual Rash Around Wrists, Dh?

I have very positive genetics for celiac and I have undiagnosed children.  Yesterday, my daughter showed me that her rash she gets every winter has appeared on one wrist.  The other wrist, she says will break out soon.  The rash is all of the way around her wrist in about a 2- 3 inch area.  I think it is imperative we have this rash checked out right away to see if it might be DH.

Any clues how I can get this rash seen in an urgent timeframe?  Can an urgent care center or general practitioner help?

Desperately trying to help my children,

D

I would go to the GP first. However, if it only occurs during the winter and no other time, I wouldn't think DH.

It is possible, but from what i understand of DH, it would occur far more often via CC or in a gluten containing diet.

It is not itchy.  it looks like super-dry skin.  We eat gluten free at home, but in the fall and winter she eats out about 2 times a week.

Can DH be not itchy?

I am working on a doctor visit.  My GP retired, so have to find someone new.  It would be nice to have one before an emergency comes up.  GP near Milaca, Princeton, or St. Cloud, MN anyone?

She did mention the rash sometimes stings.

Are you sure it's not just from the coat wrists irritating the skin on the wrists?  What type of material is it.  Wools will do that do me.  It is that time of year.

I've been to Arizona twice in my life - both times I got eczema on both hands that immediately went away once I came home.  The first time it happened I went to Urgent Care because I had no idea what it was and thought maybe I had gotten bitten by one of the many critters that live there.  The doctor told me it was because of the extreme climate change (I grew up in Central New York State and now live in Northern New Jersey).  Is it possible that the rash your daughter gets is climate related, being that it hits only in winter?  They gave me a steroid creme that helped somewhat, but it didn't go away until I came home.

No, am not sure if the fabric in the jacket causes it.  I did find that the skin is shielded from the cold and no other part of the skin (even bare skin) has this extreme dryness.  I have been looking at DH pictures, but don't think it matches.  However, perhaps it might be a celiac related rash anyway.  Another daughter has the same wrist thing.  They don't spend much time in their jackets.

I do live in MN and we do experience extreme weather.  Today the temp might get up to 0 degree F.

Don't know if this would be enough to solve the rash problem, but I have found my skin is much happier in the winter if I keep a humidifier going - especially in the bedroom at night (I use a cool-air one).  I have also found that Curel lotion is wonderful.

Part 2 Frustration:

When I pressed a general practitioner for a biopsy, (which someone there had  told me they could do at his office) he said you can do it anytime the rash is there.  He felt it was dry skin.  There was no inflammation and no joint inflammation.  That doesn't explain to me why her legs, which she leaves partially bare, are good, but the wrists, which go covered are flaring red.

The dermatologist is not available until Feb. 14!  I am sending a daughter with acne then.  Anyone with a diagnosis thanks to acne?  Anyone with acne clearing when gluten free.  Anything about these, I am all ears-or eyes!

I am going to try a multi vitamin and vitamin B and see if that skin will respond.

I have had "adult acne" since college - never had much of it as a teenager.  I've tried many acne products and most just dried out my skin.  I have had a really good experience with Proactive.  Just a word of caution though... it does bleach clothing.  So I only put it on my face in the morning, so that it doesn't bleach my clothes.  I put it on my neck and shoulders at night because I really don't care if my nightie and sheets have bleach spots.

I've only been gluten-free for 2 months, so I don't know yet if the acne will clear up or not.  However, I'm also 42 and adult acne tends to go away on its own once you hit mid-40s, so even if it does go away I won't know for sure if it was gluten-related or not.

I think I found a huge culprit for severe reactions to create worsening of my c symptoms. Do people with celiac have sensitivity and /or have opposite reaction to certain medications Where can I find a list ?  I'm new here I'm.wondering why I am getting worse when I take certain medicine...the burning feet.  Rebound muscle pain so intense  How many people get opposite effects or have a horrible attack after these meds

Does anyone know if that includes scrambled eggs and healthy smart butter (,gluten free) I add a very tiny amount of margarine less than a teaspoon.  I did no't have any bread    It just seems like no matter what I eat my stomach and nerves over fire and here comes a host of horrible symptoms. My lower abdomen feels horrible, my right leg thigh muscle.. very odd. Jaw pain. Burning feet , joint pain , you name it  The anxiety just creeps up into brain fog. I don't think I could explain this to anyone who is unfamiliar.  Also,  I most likely will not remember posting this until I check it.  This is highly unusual for me because I have an excellent memory.  One weekend before I knew anything about celiac I lost an entire weekend from severe brain fog, confusion, pain, etc.  I honestly thought I was losing my mind. When I think back I recall eating a lot of PBJ sandwiches and turkey sandwiches.  Once again did not know about gluten.  I was just too sick to cook. Do people fast during attacks ?? It seems horrible to keep going through this. I hope I'm not causing my own problems... I wonder if I should fast because I'm not eating gluten .  Chicken ,  scrambled eggs no milk , canned carrots,  gluten free low sugar low fat Greek yogurt which I already posted about 😞 Any suggestions I am open... I am bedridden when this happens to me.  Thank you Celiac community. 🙏🏻❤️

Yeah, that sounds super familiar. When inflammation levels are high — especially at the start of changing your diet — the body often develops a fructose and lactose intolerance. Unfortunately, the only thing that really helps is cutting out anything that isn’t lactose-free or that contains sugar. So basically, stick to meat, veggies, fish…

I have trouble with nausea. It often starts when I’m anxious about something (home repairs, sick dog) but continues long after the home is repaired or the dog is healthy again. When it happens I eat less and lose weight.  My gastroenterologist suggested ginger or peppermint tea. I don’t know if that will work or not because I haven't had the problem since she suggested it.

Hello  I'm not sure what to think . Seems no matter what I do I get sick. I had some yogurt with only 2 grams of sugar and is labeled gluten free ...the strawberry version seemed to really set me off My jaw is burning as well as my stomach and my feet.  Horrible pain..plus acid reflux and nausea... sensitivity to touch pain. ..yikes !! I don't know if it's from the lactose in the yogurt or if I'm getting an ulcer  This condition can make you question yourself quite a bit.  Then if you are not sure the anxiety comes 😞 Does any of these symptoms sound familiar to anyone? The neuropathy is quite intense.  What do you eat or drink after this happens  Open to suggestions  Thank you
