Hi Folks,  I was wondering if you think Ben and Jerrys ice cream is okay to eat, I picked some up from the supermaket and looked at the label and there was nothing on that label that led me to believe I shouldnt eat it, does this sound right to you?

They were Chunky Monkey and New York Super Fudge Chunk.

I just feel like I need to be reassured that I am reading things right..thanks a lot.

I don't know the ingredients on these flavors, but I would eat some Ben and Jerrys flavors. I am assuming from a carton from the grocery? I would be extra careful at a store where they dip the ice cream and put it on cones. Cones often break and drop crumbs in the big tubs of ice cream.

Edit to say: Duh! z said from the grocery! :)

Ben and Jerrys is okay if there is nothing in the ice cream like baked stuff/cookies/cookie dough, so a readover of the ingredient list will let you know.  Their policy is to disclose gluten containing ingredients on the label (Open Original Shared Link

I love their caramel core one... I can't buy it, I devour it.

kareng...thanks, yes its the store bought stuff, its the only thing that lifts my spirits nowadays LOL!

laura....thanks for the link, glad to hear I am okay with it, I am limited to what I can buy where I live, and they dont stock the ones with cookies, nor the caramel core one!!  although I would love to try that one for sure.

do they have Talenti?  Except for 2? cookie flavors, they are gluten-free.  Sea salt caramel...........so good.....  Some people have seen them at Walmart - so they are pretty widely available.

I live in Costa Rica, so its always tricky getting stuff, they only have the two I mentioned above, a cherry flavored one, and one other that I cannot remember, but that's four in all.....and that's it!!!

I guess its a trade-off - beautiful views, weather, beaches....  or cold, pollen, traffic and lots of ice cream flavors!

Do they have flavored yogurts? You could freeze them. They are ice cream like. Also, regular pudding is yummy frozen. Can you get Jello pudding mixes? Or make some homemade? They do the frozen fruit stuff there, don't they? That's yummy but it's not ice cream. Maybe you could make ice cream?

Zebra007 Contributor

yes I could look at the yogurts too, but you really cant beat ice cream! I might start making my own at some point, but I do love Ben and Jerrys!  In fact I am off now to tuck into the banana and walnut flavour yum!

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
