hi, all!

hope everyone is doing well. i have another alcohol question and i'm hoping someone can help me out.

the nice man at the liquor store just gave me a free miniature of Kleiner Feigling Vodka "with natural fig flavor added". i am hoping i can drink it and see what it tastes like. can't say i've ever had a fig drink before! the website, though, is in german, and i can't seem to locate any info on its contents. so that's the 1st question -- anybody know anything about German vodka?

the second question is, i know that distilled grain alcohol is ok for most of us... should i obsessively check on gluten-free status of products in this alcohol family? or only when it is flavored? i'm kind of confused... when i started this journey, my dietitian said no alcohol but wine, rum and tequila. i was very excited to learn i have more options than that. it has been slow going learning what all is still out there that i can have though!

You really should check it since it is flavored. There could be gluten added with the flavoring.

Distilled alcohol loses the gluten in the process but this theory is debated here back and forth.

Some people can't even have the distilled alcohol as you stated. I've had vodka since being diagnosed and I think its ok for me.

In the U.S. "natural" anything flavor means it's made from just that. Natural cherry flavor is made from cherries. I cannot tell you for certain it applies to imports.
