we used to always make gingerbread houses at Christmas every year. But unfortunatly the recipe I have for gingerbread is for cookies and is not sticky enough to hold together to be a house. Any recipes? if you do please e-mail me with it! will be much appreciated! :)

I'm in search of one too. I've been doing gingerbread houses with my kids for three years now, it's always so much fun. I always just bought the houses pre-cut, or I used graham crackers. I don't know what we'll use this year......but I'll have to find something!

Here try this. I'm not sure if it will work for making a house, but it seems like it should. Just be sure to use gluten-free spices. Good luck!!

Wheat-Free Gingerbread

Ingredients:

1-1/2 cups Amaranth Flour

1/2 cup Arrowroot Starch

1 tsp. Baking Soda

1/2 tsp. Salt

3/4 tsp. Ginger

1 tsp. Cinnamon

1/4 tsp. Allspice

2/3 cup Warm Water

1/4 cup Oil

1/3 cup Honey

2 Tbsp. Lemon Juice

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Grease 8 or 9 inch baking dish. Combine dry ingredients and sift them into bowl, mixing well. Combine liquids in one pint measuring cup or small bowl and mix with fork or whisk. Pour over dry ingredients all at once and mix quickly. Pour immediately into baking dish and bake for 30 minutes. When done, cracks appear and top springs back when touched. Best if served warm.

My family makes a gingerbread house every year. The last couple of years we've done it gluten-free. I follow the recipe from Betty Crocker, with a few modifications. It works fine, just make sure your flour has plenty of xanthan gum mixed in. My 4 kids love eating it after Christmas.

Gingerbread People (Adapted from Betty Crocker's Cookbook)

1 Cup packed brown sugar

1/3 Cup butter or shortening

1-1/2 Cups dark molasses

2/3 Cups cold water

7 Cups gluten-free flour (make sure xanthan gum is mixed in - at least 7 tsp for this much)

2 tsp baking soda

2 tsp ground ginger

1 tsp salt

1 tsp ground allspice

1 tsp ground cloves

1 tsp ground cinnamon

Mix brown sugar, butter, molasses and water. Stir in remaining ingredients. (Start with 6 cups flour and add last cup slowly, only add as much as needed to make thick dough.) Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours.

Heat oven to 350. Roll dough 1/4 thick on floured board. Cut with cutters into desired shapes. Place about 2 inches apart on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake until no indentation remains when touched, 10-12 minutes. Cool.

Good luck!

We don't ever eat our gingerbread house, so I just planned to make one using regular flour so the whole thing will stick together! I will just make it on a day I am not doing other baking so I have a chance to really clean up well. I plan to do some regular baking this year, and some gluten-free stuff as well. Should be interesting.

OK, if I can get this recipe to work, you will be one of my favorite people. I don't see any reasonf or me to make any substitutions on this, wow! So rare!

Thanks!

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
