Can vegetable oil be used in place of butter in some recipies?I'm cooking for a potluck tonight at church, where we have two lactose intolerant families. I have herbed potatoes in the crock pot with vegetable oil instead of butter. I'm guessing it should work out. Is this the general practice?

I think the oil should work out fine--I do roasted potatoes with olive oil in the oven all the time.

I've found a wonderful variety of oils- avocado oil *different flavors* and others at my WholeFoods. There are so many. I use the avocado basil in salads, the avocado lemon on chicken, .... I've got a pantry full right now of "exotic to me" oils that I use on different meals. Mashed potatoes are fine with whatever oil floats your boat that evening. Get crazy with the oils. :)

Yep, oil will work for most non-baking recipes, and for some of those as well. In a pot like that, it'll be just fine. And, as jnkymnky suggests, go craxy with the flavored oils! :-) In stews/soups/etc, it's a great addition.

The Lindt (Lindor) dairy-free oat milk truffles are definitely gluten-free, and (last time I checked) so are the white chocolate truffles and the mint chocolate truffles.

I've used magnesium taurinate and magnesium taurate vitamins.  Didn't notice much of a difference when I used them.

More great tips, and a good excuse to shop at M&S and also buy more iced buns!   I wish we had an ASDA near us, as the few times we've been to one their gluten-free pasta range seemed very reasonably priced compared to other shops.  Thanks so much, @Russ H.
