Seen The Article In Dec Vogue?

Hi,

I just wanted to let all the parents here know that there is an article in December's Vogue magazine by a woman whose daughter has severe peanut allergy. Most of us here don't have that exact problem, but it was nice seeing a serious food problem addressed in such a mainstream magazine.

There are many "recognizable" stories in it, such as the doctor who carelessly left a peanut butter sandwich within reach of the peanut-allergic toddler, and uh..."helpful" friends, and the mother's own acknowledgement that she is like a watchdog on steroids re her daughter but what else can she do.

Maybe I'll write in and tell them I really enjoyed the story, lol!

Thanks for the heads up, my daughter has a life threatening peanut and tree nut allergy and she reacts to peanuts airborn as well. I'll go read the article asap.

You should write the magazine a note--and tell them about Celiac too :) Even articles on allergies not relating to Celiac mean awareness of all these things is growing...

Can't remember what magazine it was, but it was the article that got me to ask my dermatoligist about my rash, which just got diagnosed as Dermatitis Herptiformis, realted to gluten intolerence.

Thanks rmj when I first rang up it was we can't do it without , but I talked to a lovely lady and she sorted it all out for me, so it pays to be persistent , I would have had to decline if I hadn't been given the water option too , so yes I'm glad too 😌

I’m so glad they listened to your concerns!  I hope you get some answers from the MRI.

Had my MRI today I didn't have to have the manitol with my allergy's , I just had a litre of water , they were great with my concerns , so let's see if anything comes of if will keep posted once I have results 👍

Thank you ,it’s been a long road for me for having both now ,what upsets the most is that if they discovered that I also have cealiac earlier I would not have injested gluten if I was aware. Double whammy.
