Gene test required

Hi my daughter had had two blood tests showing positive results and my Dr referred her to get a biopsy. However the pediatrics now want her to get a gene test. Is this normal procedure? It seemed her bloods were pretty conclusive that she had it. Thoughts much appreciated.

The only thing I can think of is that they might be trying to spare your daughter a biopsy.  If the genetic test is positive, and two positive blood tests, then maybe they could give a positive dx without a biopsy?  I'm just guessing though.  Can you call the pediatrician and ask for clarification?

The genes test only helps to rule out celiac disease.  The biopsy is still considered the "Gold" standard, at least in the U.S.

      Shingles is dormant and related to chicken pox when one has had in the past.Shingles comes out when stress is heightened.I had my 3rd Shingles in 2023.

      Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute.
