She Sabatoged Her gluten-free Diet!

We started Belle on her gluten-free diet on saturday night. She has been doing really good and understanding of the diet. Amazed me since she is only 3! So this am I went out to clean the snow off of the car. I came in and she informed me that she had eaten 3 dog biscuts!! The first ingredient is wheat! I can't believe my little stinker! I just hope this doesn't set us back too much!

Oh my! It's funny what little kiddos will put in their mouths...but I really hope she doesn't get too sick from them!

However, if she remembers she got sick because of something she wasn't suppossed to eat, that could prevent this happenning again. I hope she stays well!

I cleaned out a very low shelf that had had pots and pans in it when my son went gluten free. It had all of his finger foods *he was three, as well*. I made a big deal about how these were HIS foods and if he wanted a snack, he could go get one himself. I marked his name on all of the containers as a back-up of what exactly was his. Ultimately, I ended up purchasing a large pantry cabinet from Ikea and deemed that his food closet. All his food continued to be marked with his name... as a back-up form of identification for his peace of mind *as well as mine*. It worked wonderfully. He never ate anything that wasn't his because he felt so proud of having his own stuff in it's own spot.

For some reason 3 year olds love dog food. My son would eat relatively little people food but would clean out the dogs bowl every chance he got.

Yep, my daughter went after the dog food too. Wheat withdrawals, or possible pica could have been a reason she was too young to tell me at the time why she was eating it.

Oh no!! I hope she doesn't get too sick from it!

Both of my kids like to eat dog/cat food. what is it with that?? I can't keep the baby away from it! He also barely eats any table food, but goes straight for the dog dish. go figure.

I hope your little one feels well!

I recall tasting liver snaps once. One of the colors was better than the rest, though I don't remember which one :)

I heard about a kid who was exchanging his food with that of the dog. His parents had no idea, until the DOG kept getting sick!

Now, if you child starts drinking from the toilet...

Well we had only been on the diet since saturday so I am not sure how much I would see. But she sure is crabby this afternoon! Not herself at all! Just can't wait to see if gluten-free helps her!

I've only been Gluten Free for about a month and a half and I already notice the difference...I feel SO MUCH BETTER!!

      Yes, I, too, have osteoporosis from years of malabsorption, too.  Thiamine and magnesium are what keep the calcium in place in the bones.  If one is low in magnesium, boron, selenium, zinc, copper, and other trace minerals, ones bone heath can suffer.  We need more than just calcium and Vitamin D for strong bones.  Riboflavin B 2, Folate B 9 and Pyridoxine B 6 also contribute to bone formation and strength.   Have you had your thyroid checked?  The thyroid is important to bone health as well.  The thyroid uses lots of thiamine, so a poorly functioning thyroid will affect bone heath.

      Calcium levels as measured in the blood can be quite deceiving as the body will rob calcium from the bones to meet demands for it by other bodily functions. Also, supplementing with calcium can be counterproductive as it tends to raise gut pH and decrease absorption. More often than not, the problem is poor absorption to begin with rather than deficiency of intake amounts in the diet. Calcium needs an acidic environment to be absorbed. This is why so many people on PPIs develop osteoporosis. The PPIs raise gut pH. And some people have high gut PH for other reasons. Low pH equates to a more acidic environment whereas high pH equates to a more basic (less acidic) environment.

      Kind thanks for all this valuable information! Since my Folate was/is low and also my Calcium, there IS a chance I am low in B vitamins... My doctor only measured the first two, oh and Zinc as I has twisted her arm and guess what, that was mega low too. So who knows, until I get myself tested properly, what else I am deficient in... I did a hair mineral test recently and it said to avoid All sources of Calcium. But this is confusing for me as my Ca is so low and I have osteoporosis because of this. It is my Adjusted Ca that is on the higher side and shouldn't be. So am not sure why the mineral test showed high Ca (well, it was medium in the test but relative to my lowish Magnesium, also via hair sample, it was high I was told). But anyway, thanks again for the VitB download, I will look into this most certainly!

      Hello good afternoon, I was wondering if anyone has ever brought their anti-allergy pills? I have been wanting to use their Cetirizine HCI 10mg. They are called HealthA2Z and distributed by Allegiant Health.I’m also Asthmatic and these allergies are terrible for me but I also want to be sure they don’t have any sort of gluten compound.    I have tried calling them but to no avail. Has anyone ever used them? If so, did you had any problems or no problems at all?    thank you
