Just opened in Cincinnati, Oh: Ma and Pa's Gluten Free Cafe. Dedicated gluten-free restaurant. I had the pizza hoagie and onion rings last night. I forgot just how oily onion rings were. They sat in my stomach like concrete all night long but tasted great. Next time I'm getting the pizza or pulled pork with slaw and fries.

Sounds great, one of my dreams is to open a grain free/gluten free food truck.......stone and mortar places would not do well here, but a mobile one able to cater....LOL dream I know, fundraiser has flopped and been running for a year. Hell I had the quotes up, the whole sale contracts setup, the business model and plan. I even tried to get loans, and business partners.....all flopped.

I put 5 stars as good as it gets on yelp! Because you just can't find Gluten free places. You usually have to make due with a regular restaurant and use a modified menu, with very few choices. And often you will get glutened by the other restaurants, Not here. Its all Gluten free, and worth the Wait to know you are safe. And let's talk dessert!! OH MY!! Mini pies, cake (that is NOT gritty) It's moist and fluffy. Chocolate cake, cheesecake, doughnuts!! only like $2 each. Oh I'm getting hungry! Onion rings, spaghetti and meatballs. Side note it's a kosher kitchen as well. I always end up spending a ton extra to buy desserts and take them home to stick in my freezer for later. You can order B-day cakes as well!!!! Gluten-Free B-day cakes!! I have not found anywhere else to order cakes!! I have not done it yet, but if they are as good as all the other baked goods, it will taste like a normal extra Delicious cake!! Your Gluten friends won't even know its Gluten-Free ;) You can order a lasagna meal on Fridays with salad and croutons, bread-stick and dessert for $15. Ma leaves at 6 on Friday, get there before 4 or 5 on Friday, Closed on Saturday and closes I believe at 8 on all other days. Spread the word We love this place!! I want to see it thrive!

Let me hasten to add that if you will be undergoing an endoscopy/biopsy, it is critical that you do not begin efforts to reduce gluten beforehand. Doing so will render the results invalid as it will allow the small bowel lining to heal and, therefore, obscure the damage done by celiac disease which is what the biopsy is looking for.

That’s a really tough situation. A few key points: as mentioned, a gluten challenge does require daily gluten for several weeks to make blood tests meaningful, but negative tests after limited exposure aren’t reliable. Dermatitis herpetiformis can also be tricky to diagnose unless the biopsy is taken from normal-looking skin next to a lesion. Some people with celiac or DH don’t react every time they’re exposed, so lack of symptoms doesn’t rule it out. Given your history and family cancer risk, this is something I’d strongly discuss with a celiac-experienced gastroenterologist or dermatologist before attempting a challenge on your own, so risks and benefits are clearly weighed.

https://celiac.org/glutenexposuremarkers/    yes, two hours after accidents ingesting gluten I am vomiting and then diarrhea- then exhaustion and a headache. see the article above- There is research that shows our reactions.

Concerning the EMA positive result, the EMA was the original blood test developed to detect celiac disease and has largely been replaced by the tTG-IGA which has a similar reliability confidence but is much less expensive to run. Yes, a positive EMA is very strong evidence of celiac disease but not foolproof. In the UK, a tTG-IGA score that is 10x normal or greater will often result in foregoing the endoscopy/biopsy. Weaker positives on the tTG-IGA still trigger the endoscopy/biopsy. That protocol is being considered in the US but is not yet in place.
